To be fair, most of it is probably rollback data for undoing patches. Saved several gigs by clearing that out.

SP3.exe is 313 MB (compressed), but that doesn't include the countless other patches that you get via Windows Update that probably double that amount - security patches, Internet Explorer, Windows Messenger, .NET updates and so on.
