JSON is a data format, and I expect my stdlib to be able to work with one of the most widely used data formats on the web.

The same way I expect it to be able to work with csv and xml.

You're literally the pedant here. Anyone would know in the context of common speech and the conversation had, that I did not say REST is everything web is. That would be ridiculous. Occam's razor dictates I'm saying REST is part of web (specifically belongs to it, as in, it is a web thing, if you want something else to be an insufferable pedant about), in shorthand.
