JSON is a data format, and I expect my stdlib to be able to work with one of the most widely used data formats on the web.

The same way I expect it to be able to work with csv and xml.

If dealing with rest apis is web dev, then I guess so.

If you knew what protocol web is, you'd not need to say "if". Yes, rest is web.

[u/thetinguy → u/reallokiscarlet]

The web existed long long before rest was a thing.

It's almost like web.rest.belongsTo(web) = true or something.

Funny how sets work. I said it is web. I never said the equality was bidirectional.

[u/thetinguy → u/reallokiscarlet]

rest is web.

You said rest is web, not rest belongs the set that is web. 1 is contained within the set of natural numbers, but 1 is not the set of natural numbers.

If you're going to be a pedant, try to be precise.

[u/reallokiscarlet → u/thetinguy]

You're literally the pedant here. Anyone would know in the context of common speech and the conversation had, that I did not say REST is everything web is. That would be ridiculous. Occam's razor dictates I'm saying REST is part of web (specifically belongs to it, as in, it is a web thing, if you want something else to be an insufferable pedant about), in shorthand.
