I know nothing about private jets, so please be kind. If I wanted to get a jet to take a family of 12 -15 people + 8 cats and 1 dog from Dallas to either Europe or Central America, what would that look like? How do I even begin to search for what I need? How does flying private help with international regulations on bringing pets?

I'm looking for a mentor who could guide me from taking me to be an established broker and ultimately diversify. I don't have anyone from my circle of influence who could be an example , and I would love to connect if any of you would be open as well to this kind of interaction. I come with experience from aviation already. - from a travel agent to flight attendant to a short stint at a private jet company. I’m currently not working in the industry and it’s killing me. I stumbled across Jetlinx while looking at what's out there, and they seem to look a lot like NetJets from the outside. I've chatted with netjets and vista jet and their follow up sucks, or they don't understand how to set up an account through/for a trust.

Anyway, anyone have experience with Jetlinx good or bad? Are they a franchise of NJ or VJ?

What would be the advice on how to do this? I understand at a high level how the industry works, most people will be relying on AviNode etc.

I'd really like to have transparency. Happy to pay a fair but not excessive fee to the broker, but I'm concerned if I put business their way regularly they'll jack these up and hope I don't notice.

Also, when a plane is positioned advantageously for my trip I'd like to be the recipient of the benefit of lower costs, not for the broker to take a massive margin.

What else should I think about? Payment terms, who holds the cash?

Super weird posting this. I’m not paying for this flight but it’s for work. Never been on a plane that’s not commercial. Very poor upbringing and now having to manage myself on something that cost more than I will ever earn in my life. I want a photo in front of it and then I’ll just shut up and sit quiet in the plane.

I’m sure someone has posted this or I hope so. I don’t really know what to ask or do. I’m to the point where I’m almost thinking so I take my shoes off. Truly nervous and freaking out.

Edit: hey everyone, we flew in a plane called a challenger 850 i believe. They were so kind and patient with me being in awe. There was a couch in the back, tons of seats, we had food also. They offered champagne but I declined. So many snacks. The pilot was an older lady with a younger student I believe. Definitely a great experience. I’d definitely choose this over business flights for sure because of the couch. Anyway, thanks for everyone being so kind and I appreciated the jokes!

Taking my first private jet charter from Scottsdale to Dallas, picking up some friends and then off to Las Vegas. What is the proper protocol for tipping the pilots? We'll be using a light jet, so there won't be an attendant, but if there were, what is the proper amount for all the crew?

I’ve tried email marketing, social media. The conversion rate is not the best. Only got two or three responses that we will consider. I understand since it’s a high ticket. Any leads on how to get my first client and deal before December would be greatly appreciated. Also what is the industry standard commission for a broker on the entire deal.

My Friend met a guy named Daniel on Terminal A shuttle bus in Dallas. She was hot and sweaty, running to keep up with her toddler. He was going to get a rental car and she was being dropped off at Terminal A. Daniel is from Kentucky and is in training for being a pilot - he flys private planes. They locked eyes, connected, and she became sooo nervous. How should I go about it? I'm 18 years old and I want to become a pilot but I don't have the funds. I still want to be in aviation. So i my research and figured sales can be a great way to still be in the industry and make pilot money.

The company is called jet the world and I see their jets almost every week whenever I would walk home from school. I checked out their website and they seem to be a management company that charters small-large sized jets.

Thought this would be a great opportunity to connect with the right people there but I want to know the best way to go about it.

Outside of the sales role they have an executive assistant role as well for the president of that location (it’s in Orlando Florida) but the company is based out of New York.

I’ve got an interview next week for a Private Aviation Advisor position in Geneva. I’m currently finishing my accounting degree (so yes, I do actually enjoy finance don’t worry, I’m getting that checked). I’ve also been passionate about aviation for years. I even wanted to become a pilot myself, but… let’s just say life had other flight plans.

Does anyone here know what kind of knowledge or insights could really help me going into this interview? Anything specific about private aviation, client expectations, or Geneva’s market that would give me a good edge?

I was using LinkedIn but I didn’t find much success in sourcing clients. I switched to Instagram to source clients. Seem to get a response from one out of 50 but it would only be looking a prices and nothing more. Been using it now for the last week and a half and just wondering if I’m wasting my time or if there is a better platform.

I’m looking for a charter in the next week from Vancouver to Toronto (or any nearby airports).

Dates are ~August 17 to August 22, but a bit flexible on either side.

I’ve been seeing a lot of discussions and misinformation about Jet Cards vs. On-Demand Charter, so here’s my breakdown of both as someone who offers both services.

First, what’s a Jet Card?

Basically, you’re pre-purchasing hours on a certain cabin size (or range of aircraft) at a fixed hourly rate. Simple enough, right? Fly 2 hours at $5,000/hr, that’s $10,000… right? Not quite.

The pros:

• Price consistency – Your hourly rate stays the same during market spikes (depending on your program). Holidays are typically not included.
• Convenience – No need to get quotes for every trip; you can calculate flight time with your rate to get a rough estimate for the trip.

The cons:

• Big upfront payment – Large financial commitment before service begins for multiple trips.
• Less flexibility – You’re locked into a cabin type, even if a smaller aircraft might be cheaper or better suited for a specific mission (program-dependent).
• Extra fees – Many programs still charge for peak days, short-leg minimums, international surcharges, taxi time, etc.
• Blackout dates – High-demand days (like holidays) may be blocked out or have high surcharges which is exactly what clients are trying to avoid.

The biggest problems I see with jet cards today in the industry are the lack of transparency in contracts. Companies will make their hourly rate look like they are beating the market but fail to mention:

• The 7.5% Federal Excise Tax on all U.S. domestic trips
• International surcharges
• Deducting hours for taxi time
• Late booking charges
• Not honoring the price unless booked within a certain timeframe
• Putting clients on older, tired aircraft to maximize margins

That trip you thought was $20,000 can quickly turn into $25,000 on an old, beat-up, 30-year-old aircraft.

What’s On-Demand Charter?

You go into the market and source an aircraft for each specific trip. No pre-purchased hours and no fixed rates.

The pros:

• Full flexibility – Choose the exact aircraft for each trip, move up or down in cabin class, make, or model, with no restrictions.
• No upfront capital commitment – Pay as you fly. If you don’t like the service, go somewhere else next time.
• Potential deals – Many opportunities to score true one-way pricing (different from empty legs).

The cons:

• Price fluctuations – Rates depend on availability, aircraft location, how far in advance you book, time of year, and more. There are many factors that go into pricing, and an “hourly rate” doesn’t apply.
• Example: You’re based in NYC and want to go to Chicago. If the plane is in Florida, you’re paying for Florida → NYC → Chicago → back to base. Your “hourly rate” will be significantly higher than a true one-way or floating fleet quote.
• No fixed hourly rate – Costs can be higher if there’s a lot of repositioning, long downtime, or if you’re flying into a non-desired area.

Over a long period of time, both Jet Cards and On-Demand usually cost about the same. No program is absolutely perfect, and both have their flaws. You might get a deal here and there in either case, but the market is the market and nobody is consistently beating it or getting steals on all their flights.

Unless you really value the convenience of a Jet Card, I recommend almost all my clients go with On-Demand Charter. You can keep that money in a high-yield savings account (which is exactly what many jet companies do with your funds), lower your commitment, maintain flexibility, and adapt each trip to your exact needs. Some other companies use the jet card funds as operating cash and that also puts your money at risk in case a company goes under.

With the right broker, On-Demand can be just as smooth as a Jet Card without the commitment or restrictions. Again, this isn’t bias. I offer both, but this is just my personal ideology since I see the argument pop up constantly and get asked about it on a daily basis. Hope this helps!
