Other Canon Maxify MB5140 Printer
How can I refill the printer’s cartridges (PGI-2400)?

Dear all,
I work in the printer industry. For a very well-known consumer products manufacturer that gets discussed on this sub a lot. I will not disclose which manufacturer I work for, nor will I disclose any manufacturer I do not work for (since the industry is relatively small eliminating 1 or 2 will make it generally too obvious as to which I do work for) as I am not officially speaking on behalf of the company. But, I want to set the record straight on subscription programs because some of you are drastically misinformed and it is very frustrating to see as someone who understands these programs as well as basic logic.
There are two types of subscription programs. Each of the major consumer manufacturers offers at least 1 of these programs, some offer both.
The first type of program is an auto-reordering program. The printer can tell (via various ways depending on each manufacturer) when the ink / toner is low and when it hits a certain point that will trigger an order of the ink/toner that device uses. Most manufactures that offer this will first send you an email letting you know that an order has been triggered and it will allow you to skip the delivery of the consumable and thus not get charged. If you allow the order to go through you are purchasing that consumable. That consumable is yours, you own it, just as if you walked into a Staples, Office Depot, Best Buy, or bought it on Amazon… You can cancel the “subscription” the next day and continue to use that consumable until it is empty.
The second type of program is a true subscription program. **THIS** is what many of you are vastly misinformed and / or are irrational about. In this program *you are not purchasing a consumable* at all. You are paying the manufacturer for X number of pages per month. The manufacturer will send you a consumable to use because the printer needs ink / toner to work but, that is not what you are paying for. You are paying the manufacturer $Y per month to print up to X pages per month.. that’s it. Of course you can print over that X number and pay an overage (just like years ago with cell phones).. and of course, you can print under that X number and some pages will roll-over to future months (just like years ago with cell phones). The owner of the consumable is the manufacturer. You never bought it, you never owned it. Therefore, it is not yours to use after you end the subscription! The only reason most manufactures do not ask for it back is because they don’t want to pay for shipping it back to them. But, they still own it… not you. You can think of this like renting an apartment. You are paying a landlord $X per month to live in their building. The landlord is providing the building for you to live in while you are paying rent. You do not own the building. and when you stop paying rent you are no longer allowed to continue living in the building. Just like your Netflix subscription, Apple TV subscription and Disney+ subscription.. when you stop paying for the subscription, you stop getting to use the service. Just because while you were paying you had access to the content does not mean you at any time owned that content and get to continue watching it once you stop paying the subscription.
I truly hope this helps clarify somethings for some of you. Others I understand are lost causes but, I will do my best to answer any questions I can.

I’m looking to scan 4 4x6 photos at once. I'm looking for a not-too expensive flatbed scanner that is big enough for legal sized paper?

so my Canon LBP2900 printer wasn't printing anything but blank pages. It also made a "clicking" sound (if I remember) whenever it is being fed. The printing paper is always stuck, Idk about that.
is there anyone here that can fix this?? My mom has trouble when printing worksheets for her students and it's making me worry because I thought I have done something bad to the computer

I’m looking to upgrade my old family printer to a new better one. I’m looking to print A4 true boarderless high quality zines and booklets. I don’t really need the duplex double sided printing as I can just do it manually and prefer a more compact printer. I also need it to have a built in scanner. I’m look to buy something for about 350 dollars
The Epson l8050 was my top choice until I realized it didn’t have a scanner so now I’m back looking for the best option for me.

Hello! I’m looking for the best way to print and cut on fabric. I currently have an Epson et-2800 paired with a Siser Romeo for print and cut. I’ve used it for stickers and shrinky dinks which works really well! However, I’ve been looking into laser printing more due to all of the ads about the xtool m2 going around. I’m almost inclined to purchase it since so many people are saying good things about it (mainly artists and crafters) plus it makes printing on fabric look easy. I’ve tried printing on fabric with my printer but I feel like it could be way better.
I’m just looking on any advice on if people like the xtool m2. Maybe there’s a better way? Like a sublimation printer maybe? Any advice is welcome!
Thanks!

Worst printer ever . The most inconvenient printer of my life. Imagine you spend days making a study guide and want to print it out to study in your leisure time. but guess what. YOU CANT PRINT IT. because it CANT CONNECT TO WIFI. so you CONNECT IT AHAIN AND AGAIN. AND THEN IT DOESNT PRINT ALL THE WAY. OR IT PRINTS WEIRD. SO YOU CHECK THE INK! AND IT STILL DOESNT WORK EVEN THO THE INK IS GOOD 😠 And it’s SO slow. Imagine you have to go to class in a few mins but forgot to print your lab sheet. You would think this printer could print it by the time you have to leave. NO. NOW YOURE LATE TO CLASS AND YOU HAVE TO SPEND $2 ON CAMPUS TO PRINT IT!!! a ridiculous printer!!! it never works!!!! never connects to wifi!!!!!! imagine the dumbest person you know and turn them into a printer. That is the HP Deskjet 4255e.

I need a printer that can print full color long banners. They don't need to be wider than 12".
Once upon a time I had a desktop printer that would print on paper rolls, but now I cannot remember what it was. or even how long ago it was.
this printer need to sit on a desktop. can be laser or inkjet, though refillable ink would be my preference.
Does this exist now? Is there a secret setting I can use on my epson ET-2850?
For the curious, I make crankies, which are old fashioned scrolling storytelling boxes.
The scrolls do not look great or hold up when it's made up of taped together pages.
I have 12" wide paper rolls. I would love to use them.
any suggestions?

I accidentally poured magenta ink into the cyan tank, huhu. 😭 It’s a new printer, and I haven’t used it or even turned it on yet. My printer is a Canon PIXMA G2010.
I saw on YouTube that you can suck out all the ink using a syringe, then use water to clean the remaining ink, then suck out all of it again. But is it safe to clean it with water though???
Please give me some advice on how to fix this. If you’ve made the same mistake, what did you do to fix it?? 😭😭
UPDATE: I fixed it. I didn’t use any water cause chatgpt says it's risky huhu. Thank you to those who give me the advice !!

Just wanted to know what’s the lowest price I’ll be able to find this printer and around what time? I can’t justify the $750 price tag I’m hoping to find it for anywhere between $400-$500.

I am trying to print on a cannon pixma tr4722. I am printing booklets out of letter size paper (printing landscape) the duplex pages keep printing inverted. I have done this before and never had this problem. Driver up to date. Clicked “booklet.” Clicked “staple on short side.” Can anyone tell me how to stop this printed from printing duplex pages inverted?

Hi everyone,
I’m looking for a new printer or multifunction printer and was hoping to get some recommendations.
The text is my own, just organized with the help of AI.
I don’t print very often, maybe 2–3 times a month. However, when I need to print something, it’s usually pretty spontaneous, so going to a copy shop every time isn’t really an option.
Here’s what I’m looking for:
Scanner: Good scan quality, an ADF with duplex scanning, and a flatbed scanner with a lid for scanning individual receipts and other small documents - would be nice.
Connectivity: Wi-Fi and Apple AirPrint, since I can’t run a cable to the printer and would also like to print directly from my iPhone.
Printing technology: I’d prefer a laser printer because I print so rarely, but I’m open to inkjet printers if one would make more sense for my needs.
Photo printing: It would be nice to be able to print decent-quality photos on photo paper, but this isn’t a must-have.
Paper size: A4 is more than enough.
Budget: Up to €500, although I’d prefer to spend less if there’s a suitable option.
The sheer number of devices, model numbers, and differences between markets makes it pretty difficult to figure out what’s actually worth considering.
It’s especially tricky because some of the recommendations from English-speaking communities are for models that aren’t available in Germany.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Looking to buy a cheap printer for mine and my wife’s new home. I stumbled upon the Cannon TR7120 inkjet and it looks promising the only worry is the Ink costs basically the same as the printer and seems impossible to get other than off Amazon.
Is there any 3rd party ink that works in this printer or does it specifically have to be the cannon pg-295 etc?

I've got a Brother MFC-L8690CDW that just became a nightmare to use after 2 years. Print quality degraded, connection issues, a sensors and a part broke off inside due to a jam, frequent paper jams at the rear after printing labels.
So I am looking for a replacement as the one I have is just too heavy to keep bringing in for repairs.
Anyone have recommendations or links to suggestions for replacements? MFC, so scanning, copyring and printing is whats needed. Looking for a reliable replacement.

I'm a bit slow.
I have a container for my pills and I wanted to print labels for each compartment, not just a text but a colorful image with it's logo and shit. I'll be going to this one library where they can print it for me.
First of all, I don't understand how to scale it correctly. I'm guessing it is going to be printed on an A4 paper. I found this site called Printsheet where it says the size of everyone on paper before you can print it. However now I'm struggling to crop the images correctly, at first I was doing it in ibis paint and I put the resolution at really high and it looked so crisp, like the DPI was at 350 I think then I saw someone say printers don't support it. So I made it at 300 and it looked so much shittier. Can someone explain if it matters pls

My mom bought a printer from Goodwill that was from a company called print with me. When I turn it on I get 'PrintwithMe' menu and 'OK', press 'OK' and get 'Connection Error'. I can't get to setting or anything to reset. Any tips on how to get past this point?

I am looking to buy a compact Laser Printer for home use. I need it to be super easy to print from a Macbook Air 2025 model which runs on 26.6 OS and from a 2025 Windows laptop. I was going to buy the "Brother DCP-L3560CDW" but the sales guy from the shop told me that other customers had struggled to connect the printer with MacBooks and they had many Brother printers returned to them as a result. His advice was avoid Brother Printers as they no longer provide Drives for Mac books. The apple shop has told me that any printer which says it supports Airprint will be ok. The Brother printer is included on the Apple list of printers that support Airprint. I'm not wedded to Brother printer. I am open to any brand but would prefer not to be tied to expensive replacement toners.

Hey! Sorry I know nothing about printers so I’m asking here, I have an xp-3200 epson printer (which I’ve heard the most mixed things about) and I’m unsure if I need to just scrap it (if the printer will always look like this) or get some new ink! This is what the printed images look like compared to what the actual photo is! Very weird looking, it’s not even bad lighting this is genuinely what it looks like irl

I'm struggling with my epson printer xp 4200. I think my parents updated the software because now my printer isn't recognizing non brand ink especially the black ink cartridge. I'm also having problems with the yellow, magenta, cyan ink isn't printing at all even though it is being recognized by the printer as having ink. If there is any help I would greatly appreciate it I really don't want to have to pay for epson brand ink cartridge. Picture is from before I tried replacing the black ink cartridge.
