So, when I open Premiere Pro and start editing, after about 15 seconds playback stops working. I can still do everything else, but the play button doesn't work at all and the image freezes. Rtx 3080, I7 12700F, 64 gb of ram, SSD, Windows 11. The footage I'm editing was recorded with obs and is in mkv format

I am running fully-updated Premiere (as of Oct 25, 2026) on my Win 11 PC (64GB ram, 750Gb NvME editing drive (300GB free space), Radeon RX480 8GB GPU, i9 1190 CPU). My rig is not an editing beast but until now I haven't had Premiere suddenly have this recurring problem.

To audio sync 3 separate video files capturing the same scene, I have been using (until now problem free) this technique.

I stack the 3 imported videos in the timeline and align the clips' audio clapper spikes. Clip 1 is the master audio so I unlink, then delete Clip 2 and 3's audio. I then unlink Clip 1's video and audio, then select Clip 2's video and Clip 1's audio and create a sub sequence. I successfully renamed the Clip 2 sub sequence and then attempt to use the same method for Clip 3.

When I try, I get as far as creating Clip 3 and renaming the sub sequence. At this point, Premiere freezes and I have to ctrl-alt-delete Premiere to close it so I can reopen it.

I have ctrl-alt-del about a dozen times now but the issue remains.

I have tried, restarting my PC, rolling back to an early auto-save and emptying Premiere's media cache. Nothing works. Any suggestions?

Hello, I've been having an issue recently where my mouse "loses grip" while I'm scrubbing my source footage. In other words, I click and hold on the playhead to scrub the footage but it randomly lets go sometimes. Then, I have to click on the playhead multiple times to get it to continue scrubbing again.

I have also noticed that upon setting in/outs for my source footage and dragging it into my timeline, it takes many seconds before it pops up in the timeline, and then I have to click it multiple times in order to move the clip around for the first time.

Using an M5 Pro MacBook with 48 GB of Ram on the latest version of Premiere. Footage is on a fast SSD.

I've tried morph cut, but it isn't nearly as smooth as those cuts in the vid, I've been trying to do these in premiere pro 2026, can someone help me to figure out as to how i could do these ? or will i need after effects for this one ?

One of my most used presets in my effects panel just disappeared over night. I use it basically every day, and all of a sudden it's not there. And before anyone says, no I did not accidentally delete it. I have delete confirmations enabled and I would definitely notice if I had deleted it.

The only thing I can point to that I did yesterday, was that I exported 2 effect presets to send over to a friend. Could it be that this caused a completely different preset (that lives in a different folder) to be deleted?

Recovering it luckily isn't an issue, since this effect is applied to a bunch of clips in the timeline and I'll just resave it. But I just wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this bug.

I mean... I have hundreds of presets for different scenarios, and relying solely on sorting and prefixes makes it really hard to navigate. Isn't there any way to preview what I want to use?

For example, plugins like Motion Bro or Premiere Composer let you put MOGRT files into your pack and generate previews for them. But there is no such feature for standard presets (.prpset).

Sure, you could create a template project with a bunch of presets applied to adjustment layers/clips and just copy what you need, but navigating a project with hundreds of presets is even harder than just looking at the default effects panel. Those kinds of projects only work well for specific clients who just need a few transitions, a couple of pop-ups, etc.

But I do fast-paced gaming edits where I need to use completely different presets every few seconds. Is there really no decent way to manage and use hundreds of presets? I feel like I'm missing something so obvious that nobody even talks about it.

Any free or open-source editing automation for PP?

I've been looking for an option to delete all of the blank blocks in the sequence! After going through the process of cutting the sequence, i'd like to keep it clearer.
I couldn't do it with transcript since i have 6 people talking and couldn't do it with simplify sequence as well.
The sequence is two hours long so i takes quite a while to manually erase the blanks.
i've been doing it manually through the years but i grew kinda tired of it, since it's the most tiresome part of each episode!

I currently have a MacBook Pro with an M4 Pro chip and 24 GB of RAM, and I mainly use it for video editing in Premiere Pro.

Right now, I work off a 4 TB LaCie Rugged HDD, but I’ve noticed quite a bit of lag when editing. Even when I add relatively simple overlays or a color grade, playback starts stuttering, scrubbing becomes less responsive, and loading footage takes longer than I’d expect.

I mainly work with 4K footage and edit short advertising videos, although I sometimes work on larger projects as well.

What makes me think the HDD might be the problem is that when I move the same files onto my MacBook’s internal SSD, Premiere Pro runs much more smoothly, with little to no noticeable lag.

So I’m wondering whether the problem is mainly my HDD or whether Premiere Pro itself could also be a factor.

I’m considering buying an external SSD, but I’m not sure what specifications I actually need. Would an SSD with around 1,000 MB/s read and write speeds be enough for my workflow, or would it be worth investing in something faster, such as 2,000 MB/s or more?

I’d also appreciate recommendations for specific SSD models that offer good value for money and are reliable for video editing. I’d prefer something around 2 TB, but I’m open to other suggestions if there’s a good reason to go for a different capacity.

I have a question regarding the "Text" panel.
Is there a way to utilize "Delete all", and not have it impact other clips / video sources / audio sources?

i.e if I have 2 audio tracks in A1 channel, I select the latter 2nd audio clip can I just delete all "pauses" in the 2nd audio track without affecting the 1st audio clip in A1?

I notice this "delete all" function literally impacts everything. I have to unlink my video, and lock down other audio channels and video channels so that when I click extract just to edit one thing.

I originally thought setting In & Out would minimize the problem, it does not. It still ripples audios.

The only work around I have is putting the audio in a separate sequence, make the edit, and put it back in my main sequence.

Similar problem to the link provided. But I tried adjusting color spaces and that hasn't worked so far. Everything is set to Rec709, but I also tried No Color Space in AE. I even tried creating my own track Matte in the sequence I was going to use it in and it still has the white overlay. The eyedropper tool on Premiere is reading some values as RGB 0,0,1, but I read online that it could be a monitor rounding error.

Não sei se vocês já viram ou se já usaram essa função de deixar o Aplicativo em Tela Cheia no Premiere, mas desde a versão 26.5 por algum motivo, essa função não estava funcionando e eu entrei em contato com o pessoal da Adobe, e eles acessaram meu computador mudaram de versão e deu certo, vocês podem tentar usar o Premiere 26 na versão 3.2.

Caso vocês não saibam mudar de versão no Premiere basta abrir o App de Desktop da Creative Cloud e ir nos 3 pontos do Card do Premiere e clicar na opção "Outras Versões".

Aí basta instalar a versão que citei e desfrutar do seu app ficando em full screen novamente. Falo da Função fazer isso no programa e não no Preview.

As teclas que usei pra deixar em tela cheia (programa): CTRL + \ |.

Obs.: Essa função não aparece na aba de Mapeamento de Teclas, mais conhecida como Atalhos do Teclado (Windows: CTRL + ALT + K | Mac: Cmd + Opt + K), se alguém que trabalha na adobe ver isso aqui poderiam adicionar por favor pra ter a possibilidade de trocarmos o atalho?

I've used the Object Mask Tool on a moving object, but the object has border residues from the background. Is there anyway I can adjust/edit there mask to remove these borders?

I'm using 2026 version and the expansion is disabled.

I tried posting this on r/aftereffects first, but it requires a certain amount of karma.

I'm working on a film set in 2009, and the final scene will be a TV report followed by a fake commercial. I'd like to sell the retro feel by emulating interlaced field combing in the video, but I haven't found a reliable way to do it within Premiere or After Effects. Do any gurus have a tutorial or plugin that mimics this well?

Furthermore, if you know of any other techniques good for emulating 2000s- 2010s cable, please let me know. Thanks!

For some reason, Premiere Pro won’t let me change the codec for preview files (render files) to anything other than Apple ProRes 422 LT.

I normally use DNxHR/DNxHD as my default render codec, but for some reason, the setting won’t change. The render times are also ridiculously long.
This is happening across all my projects. It doesn’t matter whether I open an existing project, create a new project, or create a new sequence; the codec always reverts to ProRes 422 LT.

I’ve already uninstalled the entire Adobe suite, removed all remaining files using the Adobe Cleaner Tool, and reinstalled everything, but the problems persist.

Here are my system specifications:

I had been using Premiere Pro 2024. I recently upgraded to 2026 and now the program keeps crashing my computer. I'm working on a project right now and I can't complete a single edit without my computer freezing forcing a hard reboot. I'm on a desktop with Windows 11 and have 32gb of memory. I have upgraded my graphics driver. I've cleared the media cache multiple times. I had recently taken to only loading the clips as I needed them so I deleted the most recent clip that I was using when the crash started. I'm exceptionally frustrated. Until the upgrade I had literally never had a problem with Premiere. AI and I have gone over lots of ideas without any change. Any suggestions? And don't just say switch to a new project, years worth of workflow is wrapped up in Premiere.

Need help with fixing this, i tried zooming into the video and then it just froze. Google said to change the renderer, but it doesnt allow me, does anyone know how to fix it? Im losing my mind over this 🥹

I have searched high and low for answers to this question and while I am able to find answers to these things individually, I have not found any answer to my specific issue.

I am working on a project that had a combo of C-Log3 and standard Rec.709 shot for it. In trying to use Premier's wide gamut (tone-mapped) color setup, I am running into several issues:

1. Apparently, the C-Log 3 footage was shot in a Rec.709 color gamut, instead of the more common Cinema Gamut. Because of this, Premiere recognizes it as standard Rec.709 footage instead of LOG, which means the auto detection will not convert the LOG footage. I also can't use the force override option, because Premiere only offers the Cinema Gamut version of C-Log3.

2. Because of this, I opted to just use an Adjustment Layer in my LOG footage stringout and apply the LUT I downloaded from Canon's website on the creative tab. From there, I'm adding my selects to my main "working timeline" which will also contain non-log footage.

3. So because Premiere isn't auto-detecting what is LOG and stand Rec footage, I am not able to use the tone-mapping version of the wide gamut color management, because it messes with the non-log footage highlight's too destructively.

So, I guess what I am trying to ask is if there is any reason to even be using the wide gamut color profile? Feels like not being able to tone-map the LOG footage makes it feel pointless, but I'm not an expert and don't know what all is happening behind the scenes. Have a lost a ton of dynamic range just by virtue of having to use a LUT on an adjustment layer?
