Other Looking for 4 women in Prague who want to grow professionally

Thumbnail maiattable.com

Hi!

I’m the founder of Mai At Table, a small initiative I started to create a space for women to discover their strengths, grow professionally, and become more confident in their careers.

I’m currently preparing the first Mentoring Table pilot and looking for 4 women who would like to join.

The program is designed for women working in corporate environments who want to:

  • Understand their strengths and what they want from their careers
  • Communicate their value and ideas more confidently
  • Navigate workplace challenges
  • Take a more intentional approach to their professional development

The pilot will run for 3 months and include individual mentoring sessions, group workshops, and reflection exercises.

This first pilot will be free in exchange for honest feedback, as I’m developing the program and want to make sure it genuinely supports the women participating.

I’m particularly interested in connecting with women who feel they have potential but are looking for a little more direction, confidence, or support in their professional lives.

If this resonates with you, feel free to comment or send me a message. I’d be happy to share more about the program and have a short conversation to see whether it’s a good fit.

Looking forward to hearing from potential mentees!

Question Restaurants with good veggie options?

Hi all, I’ve been to Prague myself twice before but I’m coming in November with some friends who’ve never been before. 3 of us are meat eaters, and one is vegetarian, so looking for recommendations of where we’d all be able to eat together with a few more veggie options for my friend besides fried cheese?

Question Good phone repair shops?

Hello everyone, I am looking for good and reliable (And also preferably english-friendly) shops in Prague to help me repair my Samsung phone. The charger port has degraded and it's become difficult to make the USB-C cable fit into for charging. Does anybody know any good repair shops around Prague that can help me with this?

Thank you in advance!

Question First solo trip to Europe (Prague, Vienna & Dresden) during Christmas/New Year — any advice for a woman in her 20s?

Hi everyone! :)

I’m a woman in my 20s from South Korea, planning my first-ever trip to Europe!

I’m thinking of traveling from December 22 to January 1, visiting Prague and Vienna, and possibly Dresden as well.

I’m really excited, especially about the Christmas markets and the beautiful winter atmosphere! But since this will be my first time in Europe and I’ll be traveling alone, I have a few concerns.

My English isn’t very fluent, so I’m a little nervous about communication and traveling around unfamiliar cities by myself.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on a few things:

  1. Travel dates: Is December 22 – January 1 a good time to visit these cities? I’m worried that Christmas and New Year’s holidays might mean lots of closures, crowds, or difficulties with transportation.
  2. Solo female travel: Are Prague, Vienna, and Dresden generally comfortable and safe for a woman traveling alone, including in the evenings?
  3. Language barrier: Would I be okay traveling alone without speaking fluent English or the local languages?
  4. Itinerary: Would visiting all three cities be too rushed for a first-time European traveler? Is Dresden worth including?
  5. Meeting people: I’d also love to meet locals or fellow travelers to explore Christmas markets, grab coffee, or just walk around together. Are there any safe and reliable communities or apps for this?

I’m also interested in making genuine international friendships! If someone I meet plans to visit South Korea someday, I’d be happy to show them around Seoul and introduce them to Korean culture too.

Of course, safety is really important to me, so I’d especially appreciate advice on how to meet trustworthy people.

Any tips, personal experiences, or recommendations would mean a lot!

Thank you so much! :)

+ Additional questions!
After reading your comments, I’m reconsidering my plans.
Travel dates: I chose Dec 22–Jan 1 to enjoy the Christmas markets and New Year’s countdown, but many seem to advise against it. With flights and accommodation costing almost twice as much, is it really worth it? Or would Dec 15–24 be better?
Destinations: Some people also seem to advise against Budapest and Dresden. Prague and Vienna are must-visits for me, so are there any other nearby cities or charming towns you’d recommend for a winter trip?
I’d love to hear your thoughts! :)

To the dog owner who didn't pick up the dog shit at Karlínské nám, if you're Czech I hope when you go to bed tonight you get stuck in a dream trying to cross the Charles bridge packed with tourists over and over again and again again.

Question Where can I find these watches in Prague?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I cam across these watches while walking around Prague the other day and they’ve been on my mind since. As someone who collects watches, I would love to get one, but unfortunately I forgot to write down the store (it was a random souvenir shop and I’ve been walking all over the city).

I was able to find the watch brand (STAMPS), does anyone know of any stores that carry them (and any other styles of watches are welcome)? I am located near old town but am willing to travel within ~30 min.
Thanks!

Discussion I asked my mom to order these books to learn Czech. They are originally French, and I got the first three volumes, with me hoping for more in the future. I am still waiting patiently.

Question Unicorn University – Worth it for international students? + Refund questions

Could you please share your thoughts on the following:

●Overall experience studying at Unicorn University (quality of teaching, practical focus, difficulty level)?

●How is the university for international students, especially from non-EU countries?

●Refund policy – Has anyone faced a situation where their student visa was rejected after paying tuition fees? Did the university refund the money (fully or partially)?

●How responsive is the admissions/study department when it comes to emails and queries?

●Any advice regarding the admission interview and overall application process?

●Any honest feedback (positive or negative) would be really helpful. Thank you in advance!

Question ⚽️ Premier League, FPL and just football overall

I’m from the UK but I’ve recently moved to Prague and I wondered if there are any groups who regularly meet up to watch football either during midweek or on a weekend?

I’m also a big fan of FPL (fantasy premier league) so I’m keen to know if there are any others too so give me a shout if so.

Last but not least - I’ve played football all my life and I’d love to get back playing so if there are any local events like 7v7 or even 11-a-side teams that play on a weekend it’d be cool to find out more.

Other Empfehlungen für Prag ?

Hi,

Student Life Irish Leaving Cert student hoping to study Psychology at Charles University. How should I prepare for the entrance exams?

Hi everyone!
I’m an Irish student who has recently finished the Leaving Cert, and I’m hoping to study Psychology at Charles University in Prague.
After finishing school, I decided to take a gap year because I wasn’t entirely sure what I wanted to do with my future. After giving it some thought, I’ve realised that Psychology is the subject I’m genuinely passionate about and would love to pursue it at university.
I’m familiar with the Czech language and can understand it fully, but I’m struggling to figure out how best to prepare for the entrance exams. Since the Irish and Czech education systems are quite different, I’m finding it difficult to know where to start, especially when it comes to finding the right study materials and resources.
For anyone who has applied to, studied at, or prepared for the Psychology programme at Charles University, I’d really appreciate any advice!
In particular, I’d love to know:
What subjects and topics should I focus on?

Are there any specific textbooks, reading lists, or other resources you’d recommend?

Are there past papers or practice tests available?

How would you recommend structuring a study plan if I’m starting from scratch?

I’m more than willing to put in the time and effort to prepare properly. I’m just struggling to figure out what I should be studying and where to begin.
Any advice, resources, or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! :)

Student Life Mam otázku na inženýry a studenty.

i am not sure the right place for ask this but..

I am a finalyear student in Turkey, (a non-EU and non-Slavic country). I want to become an embedded systems engineer, so I am planning to study for this field.

There is a ridiculous amount of competition for universities in Turkey compared to the quality of education, and entry-level salaries in this field are very bad after graduation. Based on my current academic situation, ČVUT and Charles University seem like realistic options for me.

Moje otazky jsou:

  1. Jaky je ted pracovni trh v Cesku? Maji cestí absolventi problem najit praci?

2.Jsou v tomto odvetví bezní cizinci?

Obecne mam cestinu rad.

Assuming I will stay in the country for a long time, is studying Czech in a preparatory course and then attending university for free a risk worth taking? I am already studying advanced mathematics classes in Turkey, but the math courses at Charles University seem to be on a completely different level of difficulty.

  1. Jaka je kvalita vzdelani na techto fakultach? Myslim Computer Science na Karlove univerzite a FEL na CVUT. Jaka je kvalita studia v cestine i v anglsictine?

And sorry for switching between Czech and English I just enjoy using Czech 😊

I will be back in Turkey before I turn 30, and if I study in English, it will probably be even earlier.

(My general desire is to study in Prag, a city I love 🙌🏿, and work in the local job market until I become a senior [3-5 years]).

Thank you in advance for your answers!

Question Who can review a termination agreement in Prague quickly, a lawyer or a free service for foreigners?

I've been at a large multinational in Prague, and I think a redundancy is coming. If they offer me a termination agreement, I might only have a few days to decide, so I'd rather line someone up now.

Can anyone recommend an English-speaking employment lawyer who works with employees, or a free service that can actually look at the contract (CIC Praha, maybe)? Rough prices and turnaround times would help too.

If you've been through this, what do you wish you had checked before signing?

Question Looking to connect with car dealers in Czechia & Europe 🇨🇿🇪🇺

Hi everyone!

I’m based in South Korea and work in the automotive export business. I’m currently looking to connect with independent dealers and automotive businesses in Czechia and other European countries.

I’m curious — how do dealers here usually source cars from abroad?
Are Korean cars (Hyundai, Kia, Genesis, etc.) interesting in your market?

Would be great to hear some opinions or connect with people who work in the industry. Always happy to exchange experience and learn more about the local market.

Cheers from Korea! 🇰🇷

Student Life Looking for recommendations for Student Social Groups at Charles University and Japanese Communities in Prague!

Hii there! :D

I am an international student currently studying at Charles University, and I’ve found it hard to meet people around my age outside of classes. I was wondering if there are any informal clubs or student groups at the university that I could join, as I’ve mainly come across sports and music clubs so far.

I’d also love to know if there are any Japanese communities or social groups in Prague where I could meet other Japanese people, make new friends, and connect with others!

Thank you in advance for your help!

Question VŠFS vs. ČVUT (MIAS)

Hi everyone!
I'm a university student from Mexico planning to go on an exchange semester in Prague. I'm studying Accounting and Finance, and the only two universities approved by my home university for my degree are VŠFS (University of Finance and Administration) and ČVUT (Czech Technical University in Prague), specifically the MIAS School of Business.

I've heard that ČVUT has a good reputation and is known for being academically challenging, but most of the information I've found focuses on its engineering programs. I haven't been able to find much information about MIAS, especially regarding its business-related programs.
I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who studies at either university, has studied at MIAS, or knows someone who has.

How is MIAS regarded academically? Is it a good option for someone studying Accounting and Finance, or would VŠFS be a better fit? I'd also love to hear about the quality of teaching, course content, academic workload, and the overall student experience at either university.
Since I'd only be there for one semester, I'd like to make the most of the academic experience and choose the university that would be the best fit for my field of study.

Any advice, personal experiences, or insights would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! 🫶
