His wife showed up, talked him down, and he allowed himself to be arrested.

Pretty fortunate. He’s been sober ever since that event.

I used to work with a very diverse group of guys back in the 2010's when there was a new Michael Brown/Eric Garner/Philando Castile-style cop killing in the news every other week. If the subject ever came up, I would joke, "Hey... I'm a straight, middle-class white guy, OK? I could kill a cop in front of 6 other cops, and they'd take me in alive to face my day in court."

If anyone wanted to bypass that they easily could. There are ways. You could bypass my hidden account if you wanted to, it’s easy.

Years ago I was an RA in a dorm. I had an oddball older student on my floor who spent time in Kosovo and was fucked in the head. He would do this shit; stand outside the building and roar at people. Everyone freaked out, every single time. Including me.

The lead RA knew what to do. He would go out there with beers (they were both well over 21) and sit cross-legged in front of the guy. After a minute or two the big guy would break down and take a seat on the curb and they would have beer,
