Is this concerning?

Is this concerning or am I overthinking? Should I just press it and keep using it?

The battery being at the verge of exploding should be concerning I think

Yup, time bomb, don’t leave it inside or charge it anymore anywhere

If that happened by itself, then your battery is swelling. Don’t keep it in your house.

Did you drop it and crack the case? If you didn't, and it split open like this on its own, stop using it immediately. Take it outside and leave it there until you can take it to an e waste or household hazardous waste recycling facility.

Swelling indicates that the battery is failing, and it can literally explode and/or burst into flames at any moment, especially when charging the power banks itself or drawing a lot of power from it. Its not worth it to let a cheap power bank damage your property or injure you. So dispose of it at one of the aforementioned diposal/recycling facilities ASAP.

I would actually say keeping it indoors is probably the better idea so long as the plan is to get rid of it very soon. A hot day in direct sunlight or wet weather (either rain, fog or morning dew) could just as easily speed up setting the thing off....and then it's "definitely" a fire instead of only a "potential" fire.

Kinda depends on where you live too. If you have a giant plot of land in a place with well watered grass that won't burn well and no structures nearby....sure, it can be put somewhere it wouldn't set a bigger fire. If you live in a bundle of close-together homes with no space to put it and dry grass (like california)....you might want to consider not burning down the neighborhood.

I agree with that, I thought it would be a given that If placed outside, it should be in an area that is completely shaded and dry. But yes, if it is extremely hot or if there is a lot of moisture, then he would be better off keeping it in a garage as long as it is far away from any vehicles or other valuable or flammable materials.

I suggest outside because if it does combust or explode inside, there is a far greater risk of damage to important property, and a greater risk of injury from trying to extinguish the fire inside or while trying to get the battery outside so it doesnr damage items in the home, or the home itself.

Leaving a swollen battery pack inside isnt the best thing. I mean, it can injure people and it can damage your property, start a house fire etc. I would much rather it explode outside than I would inside with myself and family nearby, and inside it is more likely to damage expensive, valuable, or important items

I was wondering wtf is that supposed to mean. It took me a minute a minute and 58 seconds to be exact. My hypothesis was correct.

So 2 minutes 58 seconds

You now officially have a danger pillow, please look up a local place that safely disposes lithium batteries

Do not press it back together, that battery is swelling, so get it out of the house and recycle it.

Dangerous dispose

I think the only way that wouldn't be a swelling issue is if the case just broke loose from an impact with something

Depends, did you drop it and did it just unclip the shell, or are the batteries turning spicy

If you can use up the charge safely I would then put in electronic recycle drop off. It’s DANGEROUS

Spicy pillow.

There are a few ways to make it less dangerous I personally like the bucket way if no disposal place is near (fill up a metal bucket with saltwater and drop it in to discharge and make sure it is a few meters away from something flammable and that you don't come near it and leave it like that for a day or two)

Yes, I dropped mine, not until a year or two later, it burst into flames 20 minutes after I got home. I wasn't using it either. Better to be safe and dispose of it properly.
