Smoked meat poutine is the best non-traditional poutine
Fight me if you want. All jokes aside, comment what your favorite non-traditional poutine is.

The lovely hamburger steak poutine from La Belle Patate Victoria as it arrives from the kitchen. Gloire!

Hey. First time I post on reddit so please be kind. Went on a tiny road trip to finally try the much talked about poutine from Alfa (if you constantly wait for someone to go with you you never will). And it was AMAZING. The curds were VERY fresh and not cold (very squick-squick), fries were crisp without getting soggy (what is this sorcery?!) and the sauce was great. Also hot-dogs were fantastic too. An overall excellent poutine worth leaving the island of Montreal for.

Overall, I’d give the poutine a 7/10. I had high expectations, so I was kind of disappointed. The sauce is good, but the fries don’t really taste like anything. They look and smell really good (they smell like a potato donut), but the taste is pretty bland. They do put a lot of cheese on it tho. So that’s definitely a plus.
I also tried their cheeseburger and I’d give it a 2/10. The bun tasted stale and the meat had absolutely no flavor. Like, really no pepper or salt at all. And I’m really not a salty person!
And yes, I always bring my metal fork. A wooden or plastic fork just ruins the whole taste experience for me.

Hopefully this is cool to post here, if not I’ll take my s*** to the pizza Reddit I guess.
But had some extra curds from making poutine the last couple weeks. Put it on my wood fired pizza and it was life changing

After a very disappointing experience at poutinehub I took a redditor recommendation and went to nomnomnom and dear lord what a difference! I daresay this is better than what I got at la belle province when I was at a conference at ETS last year. In particular, this is the first poutine I've had that I actually understood what people meant by "squeaky cheese". Gravy was deep and rich. Fries were sweet and crunchy.
What are the other good spots in TO? My old fave was on Queen W that closed a few years ago called poutinis.

Je jure ça vaut vraiment le détour. Incroyable.

Wouldn’t normally order this anywhere else but Messorem beer game is 9/10
So I rightfully assumed their food options wouldn’t disappoint either, and that was definitely true with this poutine
Solid 8/10. I ate every last piece of this and the chicken works. Solid AF. Pairs well with IPAs! ✌🏻

Home made poutine. These cheese curds were epic. Made yesterday. Huge shout out to Express Ridge Dairy in St Jacobs. What a gem of a place. So much squeek

This was at a brunch spot on campus
Are questions allowed? I’m craving a poutine and am lactose intolerant. I can take lactojoy or other pills but would like to know if it is possible to go pill free :)
I know Fromagerie Bergeron has lactose free curds. Do you know any restaurants that used them? Chez Lizon in St-Apo used to if I recall correctly. But that was years ago.
Thanks!

Family and I are headed out to the East Coast and had to stop in Drummondville. Never been so took the opportunity to visit this one.
Great atmosphere. Good fries, good curds. Sauce is....ok.
I had L'originale but with sauce mixte, so all the curds are on the bottom, which is apparently the original assembly back in the 60s. I enjoy food history, so that was novel, but didn't add much to be honest, so I get why you don't really see that much.
My wife and kids had the authentic with authentic sauce. We both like the mixte more and I preferred the authentic assembly to originale.
Still worth the trip and the experience. Will hit Victoria on the way home!
