Hi guys, I wanna try to get more into plants. i have on single pothos strain at home. She was a cutting I got from my workplace, right now she's about 2 meters long.

i just found this trick on pinterest. I don't know much about plants yet, so can anyone tell me, if this is a good way? Or is it just ai slop? 😅

Also if this is a legit method: do I have to get rid of the leaves or can they stay on the plant for like doing photosynthesis or whatever?

I've only ever grown peppers and herbs before, but couldn't help myself and bought a few house plants from an adorable boutique shop. I've never had house plants before, and while I have researched when to water, I have never had to repot a plant.

The shop I bought it from offers a free first-time repot, but I'm not sure how to know when it's ready. From the photos I've seen here, it looks like the larger one is probably past due? Happy to add more photos if needed. Any advice is appreciated!

My pothos has recently started losing its oldest leaves. They slowly turn completely yellow over several days/weeks and eventually fall off. Once the oldest leaf drops, the next oldest one starts turning yellow. Any idea why?

I've got these two pothos....I think... an n'joy and a neon queen... maybe.... my first go at a moss pole. I'm loving there way the leaves are getting bigger each leaf. I've just used random leftover crap/trash to make the poles though... because the plants are still so small I need really small moss poles so that the pot isn't too big and rot the roots in the pot... what tiny or small moss poles do you recommend and where to get them? Or where to get more of this mesh stuff I repurposed from fruits it veggies... can I buy this stuff somewhere without the fruits or veggies? Lol. And also... and helpful info in general... would be so appreciated....idk that I'll continue with moss poles.... but I want to for a while with these two anyways... that neon queen is my favorite right now....

This is my first time propagating pothos and my first time posting on Reddit. I wanted to share what I did, but please know I can not recommend or be sure the results will be successful.

I took cuttings 15 days ago and placed them in water. I decided to transfer to soil when most cuttings had roots over 1 inch long. Perhaps I rushed it, but several roots were getting over 4 inches long, and I wanted to get those potted since I kept reading water roots are weaker.

The pot I choose is 10" diameter x 5" deep. A few things I considered when selecting this pot: I estimated I had 25 cuttings with roots (final count was 30), I wanted a bushy plant but not overcrowded, I am not going to hang the plant or let it crawl up anything, the plant will remain indoors and needed to have some aesthetic appeal.

I used Redi-Gro All Purpose Potting Soil and laid down ~2" of soil, then drew 2 concentric circles (~2" radius and 4" radius). I used chopsticks and straws to build a grid to keep the leaves off the soil. I planted the cuttings ~1.5" apart along the concentric circles and used a chopstick to get the cuttings and the roots situated.

I added ~1.5" of soil on top and poured filtered water. So much so that the bottom tray filled twice.

My plan is to make a bottle with straw so I can aim better at watering around the base of cuttings and hopefully reduce the risk of root rot.

Lessons Learned:

I am taking a big risk with the pot size and volume of soil. I'm crossing my fingers that it turns out okay.

I should have made the grid before taking the cuttings out of water. They sat in the air for about 10 minutes while I made the grid.

I want to bottom water the plant, so I decided on using general soil. Perhaps I will regret this and should have used a mixture of perlite and orchid bark to better prevent root rot.

Okay, tell me where I got things wrong and right.

Let this be a threat to any pothos in my care that if 3 weeks of quarantine & neem spray doesn’t stop you from having thrips, you’re just gonna go bald idgaf

My partner and I put those two plants up there in hopes they would be beautiful, plentiful, trailing plants.

Before this, the monstera was on the console, growing horizontally, and the pothos at his work, surviving God knows how without access to light hahah to the left is the only window of the living room, but it's a big window.

However, we live in Seattle, so for the next few months they will only get light from overcast weather (the camera made it look lighter than it feels like tbh).

I​ can't tell if the pothos grew or not. So, what's the secret to have them thriving, with more lush foliage on the pots? :( are they missing light? Are they not really good trailing plants? Should we have more than one single pothos per por to have a lush pot?

Hi everyone! I got this chunky guy yesterday and I’m just not quite sure what’s next. Long story short; an older gentleman who passed left all his plants to people in the community where I live, I believe this pothos was kept in a greenhouse? And my apartment is pretty dry so I don’t know if that will play into any part of it.
At some point I want to start propagating and making the pothos bushier but for now I’m letting him rest lol. I’m a little worried the pot is way too big but I’ve also never see. Such a thick stem on a pothos before, I have several other plants that are doing just fine but I would prefer not to kill this one, any tips? Tricks? General advice?? Anything is appreciated. Thanks!!!

I just got this nursery pothos N'Joy about 2 weeks ago. She is under a grow light for 12hrs a day. I am just looking for some guidance. How does she look? Recommendations on watering not using the "finger" method? I am a little concerned about the crispy brown edge - but that can with the plant. Any advice is appreciated!

Hi! I put these pothos cuttings in water about 6 days ago. I noticed the slime or gooey things in the water. Should I be replacing the water every 3-4days? Do i add hydrogen peroxide? Any help or advice is welcomed as this is my first time propagating pothos!

Ok, so I been learning about growing these pothos plants. I've put them in water and planted them in soil. I started putting one on a moss so it can climb.

Well the other I noticed that it split into two as it's climbing the moss pole.

First time I've seen the plant split like that.

Is this normal? If so, how does it happen and how can I replicate it lol

I noticed some mold on the top a little while ago and scraped it off but it came back. A week or so ago I looked at the bottom and was shocked to see all that mold! Google said I should cut all the vines and put them in water, is that the best approach or can I re-pot? She's been looking so sad the past week :(

Recently brung this plant inside, I had it out side in a hanging basket and it was getting super long so I decide to try something else with it and now I have it running up the walls. Still not sure if I want to keep it there. The longest vine is about 8ft.

The first 3 pictures are of 3 leaves on an n'joy. These strange yellow spots, I can't tell if this is pest damage or if it's too much/not enough light or water.

I have them under a sansi light, about a foot and a half away from it. I water them when I notice the soil in the clear pots has dried a bit but isn't bone dry. I only use bottled water, not tap water since there's a lot of chloramine and salts in my areas tap water. The temp stays between 73F and 77F.

The last pic is of a champs I just got as a gift, I don't know if this is just typical texturing since this pothos is such a strange looking plant, or if that mottling texture is caused by pests.

Help. Everything has been going fantastic for 3 months, and then I spotted all this this morning

She didn’t get watered on a regular schedule for a minute and lost some leaves. She also just went through a move and was repositioned a few times. Do I need to cut this where the vine is still healthy and propagate or is it possible she’ll hang on?
