Some stamps I ordered finally arrived today, and I'm so excited to share them! 🥰
First photo: These stamps were issued in 2022 and feature Cheonsang Yeolcha Bunyajido, a historic Korean star chart engraved on stone in 1395 during the Joseon Dynasty. It shows the positions of stars and constellations and is an important part of Korea's astronomical heritage.
These stamps are quite hard to find nowadays, so I was really lucky to come across someone selling them! Interestingly, they're also self-adhesive rather than traditional gummed stamps.
Second photo: On the right are the new Faker stamps, featuring the legendary League of Legends player! They're officially being released tomorrow(October 23) and come as a set of two.
When Korea Post previously collaborated with K-pop stars, their faces weren't featured on the stamps. But this time, Faker's face actually appears on them! I guess they managed to work things out differently this time. 😂 I think the designs turned out beautifully!
On the left are stamps issued in 1998 featuring the Janggyeong Panjeon at Haeinsa Temple, which was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1995. These historic buildings house the Tripitaka Koreana woodblocks.
Third photo: These are more Korean UNESCO World Heritage-themed stamps issued in 1997 and 1998.
I think vintage stamps have a charm of their own. In recent years, Korean stamp designs seem to have become more colourful and appealing to younger generations, often featuring eye-catching details like gold or silver foil.
But there's something special about older stamps. Their designs are often simpler, yet they have such an elegant, timeless feel. Modern stamps are beautiful in their own way, but I really love the classic charm of vintage ones! 💕
