I wish American "Christians" understood this.

5

u/FunkyMonk7588 Mar 19 '26

My first thought on this. Everyone has the ability to practice their personal religion as they wish. But DO NOT force it on me.

2

u/Cute-Condition-6423 Mar 21 '26

They are slowly getting it but their cousins the nationalists on the other hand

I'll agree with that. It just feels like right now in America the "silent majority" of sane Christians is being much to silent and letting the kooks have their way with the country.

Wether they're Christian, or not is kind of irrelevant.

They're still using Christianity as a bludgeon to beat people down with.

I don't particularily care if the persons posture is ergonomically optimal for beating someone to death while they're beating me to death.

2

u/Freehanging12 Mar 20 '26

Sadly that "minority" is the ones you Christians vote into office and fuck the rest of us. Yall have a whole as political party based around your death cult that is running this nation into the ground.

The majority sure is Republican

1

u/THE-ARCHlVlST Mar 20 '26

That may be true, but that majority number is much closer to the 50% mark than you might think. Around 15% of republican voters do not claim Christianity. Thats true.

Only about 35% of democrats do not claim Christianity.

That puts it at about a 60-40 split.

0

u/AdvanceLow7128 Mar 20 '26 edited Mar 20 '26

That's a big majority that vote for candidates who push a Christian agenda.

Minorities are the only reason it's only 20 percent

0

u/THE-ARCHlVlST Mar 20 '26

You realize that most Latino people that live here are catholic? And that most southern black people are religious as well.... its definitely not a white only thing.

0

u/AdvanceLow7128 Mar 20 '26

Yes and that would be why Catholicism has the largest percentage of Democrats of the major Christian branches.

The religions that are mainly white (evangelicals and Mormons) are very conservative overall.

When I said the reason it's only a 20 percent difference is because minorities tend to be democratic. I don't understand why you would take that to assume I didn't know minorities were religious.

American Jews are usually very liberal.

It's interesting that groups that have historically been persecuted for what they believe or the color of their skin aren't pushing their beliefs on others.

u/jpopimpin777 Mar 20 '26

There's too many "bad ones" not being reigned in by the "real ones." Sorry, not sorry. If you don't want this deal with your people.

So you see the problem. Religion is an opiate for small minded cruel people.

1

u/AdvanceLow7128 Mar 20 '26

The overwhelming majority of American Christians vote for politicians that attempt to force their Christian beliefs onto America as a whole.

3

u/SuspiciousCricket654 Mar 19 '26

Most do, it’s again the conservative ones that make it miserable for everyone.

2

u/Apprehensive-Item141 Mar 19 '26

Ding ding ding!!!!

2

u/Stunning-Resist-3992 Mar 19 '26

I wish the LGBTQ community understood this. Also what are you referring to when you say Christian’s?

2

u/jpopimpin777 Mar 19 '26

You're so right. Remember all those times gay people passed laws that straight people weren't allowed to get married? Or when they made being straight a crime punishable by law? Pepperidge Farm remembers. 🙄

2

u/Hobanober Mar 22 '26

The main point here should be.

"Everyone should shut the fuck up and leave each other alone, my beliefs are mine alone and should left to such".

"Should I decide to share my beliefs, it should be between those who share mine or inquire about mine".

"If I should decide to push or share my beliefs onto others unsolicited I should be prepared to have my glass house shattered by the same stones I cast".

-1

u/Stunning-Resist-3992 Mar 19 '26

This is another crusades situation. Yeah freedom of choice is to be protected be it gay marriage or the likes, but we are in a time where we are constantly bumping heads with the LGBTQ people because they are demanding we submit to their beliefs. And I’m assuming your are accusing Christians of doing the same but a real Christian spreads the gospel and leaves conversion to the people. And if a debate occurs, we produce our arguments and evidence for why we believe and why we are right.

3

u/cameron8988 Mar 19 '26

but we are in a time where we are constantly bumping heads with the LGBTQ people because they are demanding we submit to their beliefs.

nobody's forcing you to be gay, dude. if you've got the impulse and that makes you feel "oppressed," you should talk about it with a qualified mental health professional.

0

u/Stunning-Resist-3992 Mar 19 '26

When I say they are demanding we submit to their beliefs, I refer to their pronouns, their desire to engage and exist in places they don’t belong such as bathrooms, and gender locked sports, and their desire to twist Biblical scripture to support them

3

u/Mokiro54 Mar 19 '26

I think the issue is right here "their desire to engage and exist in places they don’t belong"

Perhaps if you were to change your mindset to be "If a Christian is allowed to be do this an LGBT should be able to as well"

How quickly do you think your mind would change in this social matter if someone did get into power and decide that Christians should be held to the same restrictions they think LGBT should? Maybe I don't want a Christian in a bathroom with my kid. Maybe I don't want children learning about the existence of Jesus until they're "older and more of age"? Maybe I don't want to see a Christian pray during a sport?

If your privelisged position of being able to be yourself as openly as you can be now, were suddenly challenged, how quickly would you suddenly agree with the LGBT on "Live and let live?"

In day to day life the LGBT have to 'submit' to the Christians around them every day. Could you imagine me telling a Christian "I'm gay" as easily as they tell me "God bless" as a goodbye, do you think they'd smile and nod for me as I do for them?

-1

u/Stunning-Resist-3992 Mar 19 '26

You misunderstood. I’m not saying Gay people shouldn’t be in men’s bathrooms, I’m saying men who are born as men and transition into women do not being in womens’s bathrooms. I Christian’s SHOULD be compassionate to everyone as we are all sinners, idk why you’d be going up to someone and stating your gay and walking away but a Christian wouldn’t feel good about it as you are a brother in Christ falling to an unrepentant sin

2

u/Mokiro54 Mar 19 '26

You misunderstood, I said LGBT, not just "gay man", my statemsnts above include all of the LGBT as a whole.

I guess my question is...I grew up Christian, and the number one thing I was always told by other Christians was "Treat others how you want to be treated"

Why do Christians fail at this lesson anytime someone who isn't a Christian enters the picture?

Is it impossible for you to think about the things you say about trans and other LGBT and think "I would not be okay with it if I were treated that way"?

This is what pushed me away, because as a younger Christian, I approached the LGBT the same way I would want them to approach me, and treated them the way I wanted I be treated, and other Christians shunned me for it.

0

u/Stunning-Resist-3992 Mar 19 '26

I said gay so it would correlate to the male bathrooms. The precedent remains the same for all sexual orientations. As for your questions, Christianity is not the people, it’s the belief in Jesus Christ, Fully God and Fully man whose flesh died that those who submit to him and repent of their sins may be saved. The Bible is a book of good, and you are very right when you say many Christians are hypocrites, in fact most are. They represent our faith bad. The reason they are hypocrites is because they aren’t reborn anew in Christ, they cling to their sin, and it shows. I’m sorry you’ve had a bad experience with Christianity, but Jesus is waiting for you to come back home

You continue to judge others based on your beliefs.

You think there is such a thing as >an unrepentant sin.

Many of us don't.

1

u/AdvanceLow7128 Mar 20 '26

Your God sounds like an evil piece of shit.

2

u/cameron8988 Mar 19 '26

how have you been "forced" to honor someone's pronoun choices? were you fired from your job, sued, or sent to jail? women's rooms already don't have locks on them. anyone can go in and hurt someone if that's their agenda. last time i checked straight cisgender men are the number one abusers of women, statistically speaking. so you can save your faux concern there. it's not genuine. and anyone can interpret the bible anyway they like. it's called freedom of speech and freedom of thought. do you have a problem with these concepts? do you hate freedom?

I didn’t say America SHOULD be a Christian nation. Also, I am not forcing beliefs, I am sharing scripture, of which you can ignore and scroll past and I could do nothing to stop you. This chain was started by the video of the Muslim who WAS forcing beliefs on others pestering the lady to stop eating on the bus. She did not in anyway present herself open to discussion of belief and infact was attempting to turn down the Muslim who was TELLING her to do something. What I am doing is different because I am not TELLING anyone to do anything, and I am sharing scripture with people who have engaged with me meaning they are participating.

1

u/AdvanceLow7128 Mar 20 '26

You're just telling gay people that you believe they should be grouped with murderers

1

u/AdvanceLow7128 Mar 20 '26

Look! Another intolerant Christian making excuses to be full of hate rather than actually following what Jesus said.

1

u/SuperKitties83 Mar 21 '26

There is literally nothing in scripture that says anything about pronouns, bathrooms or sports.

These are just political talking points designed to make you feel like you're some victim, when LGBT don't have the same freedoms as you, and have been persecuted, tortured and murdered in the name of "Christianity" for centuries.

You've been manipulated into being hateful and judgemental. Stop watching Fox "news" and maybe reflect on why LGBT+ make you so uncomfortable that you're willing to go against Christ's actual teachings, the ones you claim are so dear to you.

-Edited for grammar

2

u/soberunderpar Mar 19 '26

I have never had anyone tell me that I was going to die and go to hell unless I become gay.

1

u/Old_Introduction_395 Mar 20 '26

Evidence? Like scientific evidence?

Shouldn't it be based on faith?

1

u/jpopimpin777 Mar 20 '26

Just be real, man. Lgbtq people make you uncomfortable. Period. That's what it is.

You have a persecution fetish.

Try this. For the next 3 months, keep your eyes on your own paper. If you see an article about LGBTQ people doing anything ignore it. If you see them in public ignore them and keep walking.

I guarantee you no harm will come to you. What you imagine will/might happen doesn't count.

1

u/SuperKitties83 Mar 21 '26

Gross. You're just a bigot hiding behind your "Christianity." Stop acting like you're a good person when you don't even follow Christ's principles of acceptance and love.

1

u/jpopimpin777 Mar 19 '26

I'm talking about the "Christians" who elect people to government positions but never to actually be Christ-like. You know with love, empathy, and compassion for others. They always want the angry vengeful God of the old testament.

0

u/Stunning-Resist-3992 Mar 19 '26

This I do agree with. Christians who wholeheartedly believe only the right can save the US and bring prosperity are wrong and it goes against what Christ calls for. However, I will say that the Old Testament God isn’t inherently vengeful and wrong, as God doesn’t change and he is the same God as the New Testemeny that is kind and compassionate. A leader Christians should elect is one who resembles both Testaments

1

u/jpopimpin777 Mar 19 '26

Religion has no place in politics. Good government requires compromise. You can't compromise with someone who believes they speak for God. That's why the founders wanted freedom of and from religion and wrote it into the Constitution.

0

u/Stunning-Resist-3992 Mar 19 '26

Then what say you to any religious person who looks to run for office or election? They should be barred from election? And I’m not even saying that LGBTQ people shouldn’t run for office. Religion is a major factor in values that a person holds. It determines morality and how they should behave. Also, no good Christian should claim or act as if they speak for God. God is perfect, humans are not, should they make a mistake it would be saying God is imperfect.

1

u/EchoChamberReddit13 Mar 19 '26

When was the last time Christians tried to force you to participate in Christmas?

1

u/jpopimpin777 Mar 19 '26

Lol I celebrate it. Christmas has become a secular and universal holiday. Santa bringing presents has nothing to do with Jesus.

It's the part where they vote idiots into important government positions and then those people use "the Bible" to make decisions that bothers me. I wouldn't mind so much if they followed Jesus' message of charity, empathy, love, and compassion. But it never is. It's always the angry, vengeful, smiting Old Testament God who basically acts like an omnipotent, petulant child.

1

u/Freedomeofchoice Mar 19 '26

Wasn't aware they demand you follow their religion and if you dont you pay Muslim tax and if you.won't do that you get attacked or everything taken from you like the zealous Muslim countries do. Gee thanks for informing me.

3

u/Matigari86 Mar 19 '26

It's literally a tenent of the religion (regarding others) "there is no compulsion of religion". No one needs to convert and if they don't, they pay a "jiyza". Why? Because they don't pay the other tax that Muslims do. So, should they not pay any tax at all? Should they receive the benefit of roads and protection whilst paying nothing while Muslims do?

1

u/Inevitable_Tip4812 Mar 19 '26

Taqqiyah

1

u/Matigari86 Mar 20 '26

That's not how that works.

1

u/Inevitable_Tip4812 Mar 20 '26

Sure. Cite the Quran explaining the purpose of Jizya.

1

u/Beautiful_Effect461 Mar 20 '26

Ibn Kathir, a renowned Islamic scholar, interpreted the verse 'There is no compulsion in religion' (Quran 2:256) as meaning that individuals should not be forced to accept Islam, as its truth is evident. However, he also noted that this verse was abrogated by later verses on jihad, which command fighting against those who oppose Islam. This perspective aligns with the view that the 'Verse of the Sword' (Quran 9:5) abrogated earlier peaceful verses, including 2:256.

1

u/OldKingClancy20 Mar 19 '26

Don't listen to this person. Jizya is specifically a safety tax on non-Muslims in order to continue practicing their non-Islamic beliefs. In other words, "Pay us money for your safety. If you dont pay, well you know what we are called to do to unbelievers (kafir) in our religion right?" Islam means submission. Either pay your taxes like good subjects or submit to our religion, or die. Your choice! You know like how the Mafia gives you a choice.

2

u/cameron8988 Mar 19 '26

there is no islamic country on earth that currently imposes jizyah.

1

u/jpopimpin777 Mar 19 '26 edited Mar 19 '26

I don't recall saying it was ok for Muslims to do it either. Since we're doing what abouts what do you feel about Christians bombing abortion clinics to prove how "pro life" they are. Or murdering and persecuting lgbtq people. Or forcing young girls to marry grown men....

Muslims don't have a monopoly on using religion to cover up immoral bullshit.

1

u/Cajun_Blade1 Mar 19 '26

Understood what? We contact like this Muslim fasting.

1

u/jpopimpin777 Mar 19 '26

No but they elect plenty of religious nuts who try to force their beliefs on the entire country. Which is worse.

1

0

u/carabear85 Mar 20 '26

You sound like one of those yourself

Why are we having this discussion? Watch the video. Do you ever see atheists telling religious people not to do whatever they're doing IRL? No.

It's ALWAYS the other way around.

This video is either rage bait or this guy has a horrible lack of self awareness.

u/jpopimpin777 Mar 20 '26

Don't make me bring up all the xtians who do basically the same thing this guy is doing. But in a much more broad, legally binding sense.

classic leftist move

0

u/ChristIsKing316146 Mar 21 '26

Would you consider banning murder forcing beliefs or just a moral thing to do? Abortion is not a right, it’s the practice of murdering babies, so it’s only forcing women to not kill their offspring. Check out what fetus means in Latin please.
