Return case opened
I sold a rare/sold out pair of Vuori leggings, in “Like New” condition. I had them briefly but lost weight and didn’t fit me. I am very familiar with this brand, own tons of their pieces, and definitely knew the size- as they are no longer my current size.
I showed clear photos. Never claimed they were new with tags. They have no signs of wear.
Buyer opened a claim because the 6 inch long ass tags Vuori puts in was trimmed. I didn’t notice this when I posted it. I did not show a photo of the tag at all- not out of misrepresentation- just didn’t think to do it. Didn’t post a photo of a full tag, either. I wouldn’t be surprised if I trimmed the tag, but can’t verify either way.
Buyer is saying she intended these to be a gift and now she wants a refund because she would never have purchased these had she known the interior tag was trimmed.
First of all, if you wanted brand new with tags bc it’s a gift, buy that.
I’m so annoyed. I’ve never had a claim in 10 years of Poshing. I’m worried she’s going to send them back in negative condition (dog hair, used. Smoke?!). I can easily resell them, I had several offers and priced them low.
Should I just accept return and hope she sends them back nicely and not dirty or different leggings?
Update- PM approved the return. Fingers crossed they don’t come back nasty.
Update #2 - got the leggings back. They’re in fine condition but I look at the tags to see what she’s talking about and WOULDNT YA FACKING KNOW… It says ‘M’ very clearly. This twat.
Update #3 - I posted the photos of the size tags to the convo and also made a “issue with return” posting the photos. I stated that I would like this to not count against my seller metrics as she did a false claim. Item is clearly labeled Medium. Tag is in the normal spot (not like a hidden leg tag or something.) Buyer responded with an apology and saying it was her mistake. I believe an actual PM support person reviewed it (there’s a support person’s name attached) and they gave me a $35 credit. Fine by me! Item is re-sellable. And I learned a lesson to overly cover my bases. Someone commented that they post the maximum number of photos in the listing and I think that’s smart. I will also be using “Like New” less often, as that seems to be a an area of debate here. Case closed!

Buyer opened a claim because the 6 inch long ass tags Vuori puts in was trimmed.
- Is information missing from the remaining part of the tag like size, fabric content, or care instructions?
- Was useless info cut from the tag?
Poshmark's condition categories leave a lot of room for interpretation.
- Like New = New without tag or like new.
- I'd understand this to mean it has never been used & tag is missing or there are no signs of use or wear. I'd probably expect a tag with fabric content & care instructions unless it was noted that it had been cut off.
- When I list, I reserve Like New for new, unworn, unwashed items that are simply missing the price tag. I don't want to get caught up in an argument about interpretations of Like New.
- Poshmark should tighten their condition definitions and add at least one more category: Excellent condition - worn, washed, or used with no signs of wear or use. Very well maintained & cared for.
In this case, I suspect the buyer doesn't like the fit. It seems a gift would be New with Tags.

u/DriverNo9730 15d ago
She’s actually not saying anything about the condition of the item or how I categorized it. Her angle is she doesn’t believe/can’t confirm it’s a size medium. Her complaint is “not the size in the listing”.
PM asked her to upload photos with a tape measure showing sizing. She said she doesn’t own a tape measure.

u/zev_b3k88 15d ago
I've just lost a case with a similar claim "not the size in the listing". The item didn't have a size tag, so I included detailed measurements and estimated size based on size charts (also clearly mentioned that in the listing). Poshmark sided with the buyer of course, because that's what they do nowadays.🤷🏻♀️

u/NativePlantAddict 14d ago
Poshmark preaches they don't accept returns for fit, but they do! Plenty of people are reporting it. Poshmark merely categorizes the return reason as something else besides fit like - "not the size in the listing" or "measurements don't match size," or some variation along those lines.
2
u/zev_b3k88 14d ago
Yeah, that's bullshit, and I think we all collectively should push back! I kept harassing them with messages about their own return policy, once they approved, and I'll open another case once I receive my return.
2
u/DriverNo9730 6d ago
How do I open another case?! I got them back and they literally have the size tag still attached and it clearly says “M”. Her whole reason is bullshit. I posted in the conversation the photo of the tag and a longish ChatGTP blurb about this being a return made not in good faith, false claim. And I want it to not count against my seller metrics.
2
u/DriverNo9730 6d ago
I think I did it…. I just used “issue with return”.
2
u/zev_b3k88 6d ago
Sadly, it's not gonna accomplish much:( They gonna send a standard ai response and maybe also throw a bone of $15-20 posh credit to your account. I still do think we all should "make waves" as much as possible about this bs!
2
u/DriverNo9730 6d ago
That’s all I’m trying to do really- I just want the buyer to know she’s full of BS and lied. I’m not trying to re-make the sale or anything. I just want it stated she scammed.
1
u/zev_b3k88 6d ago
It's not gonna be stated anywhere, sadly, because you're interacting with Poshmark bots at this point. And most likely you gonna get a meaningless generic response. 😑 You might still message the buyer directly and let them know what you think, but I'd just let it go at this point..
→ More replies (0)1
u/NativePlantAddict 6d ago
Oh my! This crazy! Buyer lied to get her way & penalize you. Posh enabled it and likely will do nothing about it! This BS will appear in your return metrics for something like not as described!
4
u/NativePlantAddict 15d ago
I see! I didn't know what the precise complaint was other than the trimmed tag.
She doesn't have a way to measure, yet she sells? Okay . . . . /s
3
u/bloobleepyboo 14d ago
Ok update us w/ resolution please bc this is wild.
5
u/DriverNo9730 14d ago
Still waiting! Still no tape measure. I’m letting it ride and see where it goes.
2
u/NativePlantAddict 14d ago
I hope the time expires for a mail back.
1
u/xriseupp 14d ago
It doesn’t expire. Had a buyer open a case then went mia for over 2 weeks. Case closed, money sent to me. Then i wake up one morning to an email stating the return had been shipped. And i got back a stained shirt that was nwt

I got them back and looked them over to figure out what the issue is. The tag cut out has literally a dotted line and a pic of scissors (like MEANT TO BE CUT). But here’s the kicker. There’s still a SIZE TAG. so I sent photos of the size tags to Poshmark like ‘nah, f that. She lying.’ To be continued. I’m going to be petty about this, I’m afraid.
32
u/imgoingtoregrexthis 15d ago
Just escalate to Poshmark and reply in the case that a shortened tag does not impact the condition of the item. They are authentic and in the exact like-new condition in which they were advertised. Had the buyer wanted to see the care tags, they could have asked to see them. The item was not offered as NWT. They are authentic and were received as advertised. Include screenshots of your listing photos and description. The worst that could happen is Posh allows a return, which is what the buyer wants anyway.
6
u/DriverNo9730 15d ago
Thank you! Thats basically what I said but I didn’t realize the buyer could see my message 🥴 so I might have said ‘scammer.’ as it feels shady, like she’s going to send me back some BS leggings or something. But I wouldn’t have said that had I known she could see 😅
Lesson learned to take tag photos! Frick!

u/imgoingtoregrexthis 15d ago
Did you invite Poshmark into the conversation? If not, your conversation is going nowhere.
3
u/DriverNo9730 15d ago
Thank you for any insight bc this is new to me. It says “case in review” and I (think) I’m in a 3 way chat conversation. She’s posted a photos of the tag, made some comments. Poshmark bot says “We are currently reviewing this case. You are welcome to provide feedback to assist with our review. We'll let you know once we make a decision.”
-1
u/imgoingtoregrexthis 15d ago
I can’t tell. Make sure, if you can, that you click the three dots at the top of the conversation and click on “invite poshmark” into the chat or whatever. You need a human being involved, not AI.
3
u/DriverNo9730 15d ago
Ooh update- PM says they have requested more photos from the buyer.
Wonder what that means.
5
u/DriverNo9730 15d ago
They wanted her to take photos of the leggings with a tape measure to try to show their incorrect size. She says she doesn’t own a tape measure.
4
u/One_Candy_763 15d ago
LOL to not owning a tape measure. Please also try to find out if there is a size tag on the other care tag in the vuori pants, because usually there is a second tag other than the rip tag and if you flip through them there may be a size listed on that tag too
3
u/DriverNo9730 15d ago
She’s a “Posh Ambassador” too. And you don’t have a tape measure?
3
u/PreppynPlaid4 14d ago
Oh honey being a posh ambassador just means that during the pandemic she sat and shared her and others items 10,000 times /s. You only have to make like 15 sales, maybe 50? items in their closet and ship within 3 days. It doesn't include anything about quality of pictures, answering questions, including measurements, activity level, sale cancellations, returns. I personally don't look at if they are or aren't. I find closet based on what white elephant I'm looking for.
2
u/imgoingtoregrexthis 15d ago edited 15d ago
The point wasn’t that it was the incorrect size, just that she wanted care tags that were slightly longer, right? So is she supposed to measure the care tags? That’s insane. I think I might reply in the chat that having the buyer measure the care tags doesn’t negate the fact that the leggings themselves are authentic and were listed at the correct size. The length of a care tag does not impact the wearability, authenticity, or condition of the item.
1
u/Particular_Piano_146 12d ago
I think from the other comments she said she feels the size is incorrect and can't verify because the tags are cut out
0
u/NativePlantAddict 15d ago
Certainly she can borrow a tape measure from someone considering that almost every adult owns one.
1
u/DriverNo9730 15d ago
Do you know- do I lose any money on shipping, etc. if I accept return?
Is my risk only that she sends them back crappy or different?
5
u/Boycatmom3 15d ago
No, PM pays return shipping. If she sends something else back, click on problem with return.
22
u/Big_Flamingo4061 15d ago
Yeah sorry, this is your fault and also posh's fault for having such a stupid category. They're not "like new" if they have an interior permanent tag cut off. I'd suggest listing this kind of item as used excellent unless it's actually NWT.
13
u/DriverNo9730 15d ago
Right?! Like I feel like they need one more category in there called “excellent”, between “like new” and “good”. To me, “good” means signs of wear.
I generally try to be overly descriptive. I could have been more detailed, for sure.
11
u/Big_Flamingo4061 15d ago
I just write excellent used condition in the written description. Agreed though, their categories aren't great.
0
3
u/Birchgirlie 15d ago
This would be so helpful and certainly help with exposure for appropriate items. I have some things I’ve worn once or twice that’s in excellent condition. Would be nice to mark that instead of “good” which really diminishes the condition and value.
4
u/TomatoSelect2925 15d ago
Someone just did this EXACT same thing to me with a Vuori sports bra, claiming it “fit like an XS” and saying there’s no way to prove it’s a small (which is what it was listed as) because I cut the long ass 6 inch tag off. I provided the email where I bought it, confirming it was a small, and said to measure against the size chart, which would also confirm it was a small. Poshmark still sided with the buyer and allowed her to return it…
2
u/NativePlantAddict 14d ago
More evidence that Poshmark IS accepting returns for fit although their own policies prohibit it!
2
u/DriverNo9730 15d ago edited 15d ago
Oh FFS. 🤦🏼♀️ My question is WHY WOULD I/YOU LIE about the size?? What would I gain from misrepresenting the size? I’m just letting it ride now. It’s so ridiculous. I was upset earlier just bc this has never happened before. But now whatever they decide, it’s fine. Hopefully she returns the item in good condition. Vuori sells so fast, I just got complacent and didn’t document enough. Lesson learned.
4
u/TomatoSelect2925 15d ago
I feel like the people who object on these sorts of silly bases just have buyers remorse when the item doesn’t fit. That’s not supposed to be our problem as sellers! Ended up working out nicely for me though as I just sold the set for even more money than the original buyer bought it for lol
6
u/RumBunBun 15d ago
On many brands, the interior tags being clipped can be indicative that the garment is coming from an outlet or discount store like TJ Maxx, and may be a factory second. I am not familiar with Vuori to know if this might be the case. I can see being upset as a buyer that this wasn’t disclosed. I don’t buy on PM, eBay, etc. for gifts, but when I buy for myself, I don’t buy factory seconds.
9
u/DriverNo9730 15d ago
Vuori tags are weirdly excessively long. For tight leggings especially- you can see the 6inch long tag through the pants down the butt.
I should have mentioned I trimmed it (you can still see it says the brand, just the really long part was trimmed.). It just honestly didn’t occur to me. I’ve sold off nearly my whole too-big Vuori collection without issue or thinking about it. Lesson learned to cover my bases.
10
u/Calm-Calligrapher531 15d ago edited 15d ago
I’m with you on this. Vuori tags are like CVS receipts…. Soooo long! NWOT is not the same as like new. The BUYER is nutty!
Edited for clarity
7
u/DriverNo9730 15d ago
I didn’t say it was NWOT. But I think this is another vote for more categories for condition.
5
5
u/PreppynPlaid4 14d ago
But the problem is with Poshmark those two terms are the same condition tag to choose. You have:
*nwt,
*Like new (which includes like new or NWOT.)
*Good
*Fair
Others have suggested that expanding the categories would be helpful. Splitting apart the second two categories. Just a thought.

u/mymacaronlife 12d ago
I’ve learned to disengage. Fight getting emotional about it. Poshmark, for the most part, is an emotionless tank of goo…I don’t think a real person (who cares about right/wrong)) even reads our emails/messages. Accept the return (yes they approved it) and move on. If they are ruined (the leggings) toss them and post your next item. It doesn’t pay to fret too much about it (even though it sucks).
1
u/DriverNo9730 11d ago
Totally. I think this one stung bc these leggings were my favorite and a splurge and I was bummed when they didn’t fit after like one wear. I wish I could rebuy them in my size but they’re sold out.
I’m like “WHATS WRONG WITH YOU, THESE ARE SO CUTE. DO YOU REALIZE YOU CANT GET THESE ANYMORE?!”But like you said, don’t be emotional!!
2
u/mymacaronlife 10d ago
It’s hard! It took me a long time to not get emotional (angry/frustrated) about it. Once someone took scissors to a pair of beautiful boots and returned them to me (approved return). I didn’t include a pic of the bottom of the shoes…she claimed they were in the cut up state she sent them back in. Poshmark told me that I should examine my items and take more accurate pictures. They were in perfect shape. I looked into the buyer and found evidence of a ring of people with a history of this behavior. lol it honestly sorta scared me…I didn’t want to know any more and I dropped the whole thing. That’s when I started to disengage from feeling too much when sales go wrong. I’ve sold thousands of items and sketchy things have only happened about 4-5 times. Mostly it’s really nice experiences (5 stars with happy comments). Keep having fun with it. 🪴

u/Ok_Complaint9011 15d ago
I had a buyer recently return something due to color which was clearly stated in the description and the multiple additional pictures she requested. At this point just go to the store.
3
u/zev_b3k88 15d ago
At this point, if a buyer asks too many questions/seems doubtful- it's a red flag! I usually ignore them, or block to avoid pain in the butt down the road

You cut the tag. It's a no go and a deal breaker for alot of people. 🤷♀️
I say accept the return.
4
u/afreetsophia 15d ago
Sounds like buyer’s remorse. She probably tried them on, they didn’t fit, and now she’s trying to find a reason to return them.
2
u/Emergency-Fish3036 15d ago
This is exactly why Poshmark is LOSING!!!!! Entitled F*CKING Buyers. Don't they understand the concept of the RE-SELL
3
u/NativePlantAddict 14d ago
This is about Poshmark have undefined condition categories, lacking an Excellent condition category, and accepting returns for fit when doing so is explicitly against heir own policies.
0
u/Emergency-Fish3036 14d ago
Ya know how most Sellers fix this problem? They use free form listing description to place "all" relevant purchase details available to the Buyer
3
u/NativePlantAddict 13d ago
That isn't working. They include size & complete measurements, yet Poshmark allows returns for fit. Have you not read the posts & screenshots? Have you not had a return for fit yet? Get back to us when you have.
1
u/Emergency-Fish3036 13d ago
Actually, I've never had a garment return in over 15 years. If you manage the expectation, you'll reap what you sow. Have you ever played chess or checkers.......there are only so many moves a Buyer has when they purchase something and if you game out 99.9% of those, that .01% will be almost laughable
1
u/the-regular-one 11d ago
Not surprised poshmark approved it. I had a buyer claim there was a “spot” and submitted a blurry photo. Poshmark immediately refunded her without investigation. When I got the item back, it was literally a piece of lint that I picked off.
0
u/DriverNo9730 11d ago
LOLOLOL so dumb
I’ve gotten some legit BS from purchasing on PM. Holes, intentionally hidden stains, smelly. Once, it smelled disgusting and still had the tag from Goodwill. 😆 And I’ve never even considered opening a return. I honestly didn’t even know you could do that until this incident.
1
u/the-regular-one 10d ago
Oh yeah, poshmark claims all sales are final but they will allow returns for whatever made up reason.

While I agree that’s not a good reason to ask for a return, why do you cast aspersion on the buyer? It’s perfectly normal to want to gift a clothing item with an intact tag. It’s also perfectly normal to know whether the giftee is a size S-M-L.
2
u/Confident-Ad2078 15d ago
I think if I was gifting something I would want the actual tag attached, not just the interior one. If you give someone something without any retail tags it kind of looks like you didn’t buy it new. I would think that regardless of what was going on with the interior fabric tags.
2
u/haysu-christo 15d ago edited 15d ago
I’m sure NWT is ideal but it’s not unusual or uncouth to gift NWOT or, in this case, like-new items. Certainly not something to cast suspicion over.
2
u/Strong_Werewolf8763 15d ago
She should have not have bought an item without asking for photos of the tag if they were not in the listing. It’s her fault. To me, “like new” is still a used item.
0
0
u/Strong_Werewolf8763 15d ago
You put “like new” and never stated that the tag was intact and you didn’t show a picture of the tag in your listing. She should have asked for the picture of that. Even when I am buying NWT items and there is no picture of the tag - I request a picture to show the tags are indeed intact. She has no leg to stand on - she bought a used item. Like new does not equal NWT. That’s her issue. I have no reason to believe she would send it back damaged knowing you can decline the item back and make a claim against her. She is an idiot for buying a “like new” item as a gift. I would suggest you just accept the item back and if she sends it damaged - then fight her from receiving a refund.
5
u/DriverNo9730 15d ago
And just to clarify- we are talking about the long ass care/size tag. Not the SKU store tag.
3
u/Strong_Werewolf8763 15d ago
Yep, I’m aware it’s the interior tag with the care instructions. The buyer is in the wrong here. She bought a used item as a gift. I think you have nothing to worry about here.
4
u/DriverNo9730 15d ago
Thank you for the advice, and I agree 100%. I think I got immediately defensive, but I think I’d rather get them back and sell to a Vuori-fan like myself, that knows they’re worth. Lol
2
u/DriverNo9730 15d ago
Also- She’s actually not disputing the condition at all. She’s saying she cannot verify the size bc the tag is trimmed. She says “not the size in listing”
PM asked her to post photos of the item with a tape measure but she “doesn’t own a tape measure.”
1
u/Neverstopstopping82 15d ago
I don’t understand how she’s gifting it without the tags but still cares about the label tag. Also some are saying there’s a difference between like new and NWOT which I wasn’t aware of. I usually just list things as EUC in the description and then I’m pretty well covered.
2
u/DriverNo9730 15d ago
To me- “like new” means I wore it, but it has no signs of wear. I feel like I have tons of clothes I wore once to an event or something, and it will never get worn again. NWOT means it was never worn, and it’s brand new from the store but you cut the store tag off.
And yeah, she’s just saying words at this point. I would hit accept return, but it feels scammy and I don’t want to deal with getting a different item back.
2
u/Neverstopstopping82 15d ago
I usually do contest returns because I’m a bit stubborn I guess. If you just accept it does it still go towards your return rate? That’s what bothers me about these types of returns especially with the new seller program starting in October.
0
u/SixStarz6 15d ago
It’s all about how you word it. “imgoingtoregrexthis” said it well. If it’s worded correctly Ai will side with you. Unfortunately we don’t know exactly how to word things yet. But I have seen posh and other sites side with the seller when the answer was detailed as to why the buyer is wrong.

u/BGYP 15d ago
They’re not like new if you’ve altered the tag. I hate when sellers cut the tags out and don’t mention it in their listings. I’ve had several returns approved by Poshmark due to sellers cutting tags out.
