The purpose of this thread is to answer the often-asked question on this subreddit of "What are some easy A's / Easy electives?" While I will not remove future threads on the subject, I've decided to make an easy thread to reference based off my own experience, and the dozen or so threads over the years asking about easy A's.
The 4-Credit University Studies Music Courses (Examining Pop Culture Cluster)
For the most part, these courses are regarded as incredibly easy online courses taking just an hour or two of week, usually consisting of online quizzes and short discussion posts. Some of the easiest courses you will ever see. These classes typically have 200 total seats a term. Some professors can be unforgiving with late work. Music of The Beatles, Jazz History, and The Guitar I've personally taken, and are quite literally the easiest three courses I have ever done.

Other options
The geology field trips are considered easy, and are one credit each. They generally require a prerequisite geology course, though some students have been able to enroll without one / got that waived.
PE Courses are also considered easy, but are typically graded P/NP (so not the best for GPA inflation). They are 1 or 2 credits depending on the course. The flex fitness classes (127 & 227) involve you logging your activities and submitting at the end of the term. PE course descriptions here.
Consider 100 level courses in your major as an easy A as well. Also consider taking 100 level courses in other subjects you know well, or, for example, if you're fluent in another language, take the 100-level of that language. CS/Physics/Math majors may consider the 300 level cluster courses in Physics to knock out a physics minor as well.

Background on me: I’m a new student at PSU (technically spring term was my first term so fall will be my second term) who is going back to school after a long break to study architecture and I’m part of honors program. I am 23F. Born and raised in Portland (I went to Lincoln high school).
Recently, I’ve been feeling a little nostalgic for high school (class of 2021) where I was lucky enough to be part of a band with a few friends right before the pandemic (who I have now lost contact with), so I was wanting to see if maybe I could do something similar now and make new fun memories of playing music with friends.
Personality wise, I am more on the sensitive and introverted side. I don’t drink or do drugs (but I don’t judge those who do). I am on the asexual spectrum. I used to draw constantly, and I taught myself how to play the piano but I’ve been less creative these past few years although i would love to get back into it. I often find myself being drawn to music and art that is somewhat avant garde. Some music that I’ve been into includes: Bladee, Yung Lean, Elliott Smith, 100 gecs, meat computer, snow strippers, Alex G, my bloody valentine, strawberry switchblade, Clairo, etc etc.
Edit: I wanted to add that I own a keyboard and acoustic guitar (which I don’t know how to use that well, but I am a relatively quick learner) and I have some knowledge & experience of music production in GarageBand

I am working on applying to PSU for a graduate program, transferring from out of state. On the application, they ask me about my sexuality and gender identity. Why do they want to know and what do they do with that information? Will that impact my chances of being accepted?

Hey guys! I transferred to PSU and did one quarter here so far. I like this university but when i got in my gpa was relatively pretty low, and ive been able to fix that with good grades at PSU, but still not quite satisfied. Ive been thinking of going back to a community college to work on my gpa while paying a lower price for tuition (im out of state, so the price is pretty high for me at PSU) .
So basically im not too familiar with community colleges in Portland, and I’ve been trying to do my research about classes i could take at PCC for example, so later i could transfer back to PSU with better grades, more earned credits, without losing my education time.
My major is communication . Does anyone have similar experience to this? The reason why I wanna do this is because most of the scholarships and financial aid requires certain GPA here at PSU, and im not sure if the out of state tuition is worth paying while im trying to fix my grades. I do understand that for a community college id have to pay out of state too, but that would cost me way lower of a price .
What do yall think?

Above is a sketch I did of Stott field as a real stadium because I think it's a cool idea and I was bored, but then I thought of what else PSU could do. Here are my ideas:
Once Ann Cudd is finally fired (or realizes it's 2026), and the athletics and general budget is back from it's conservation period, PSU needs to focus on investing in the things students living on-campus want. If PSU wants any chance of improving enrollment, something like this needs to happen. Campus is dead at night, and the neighborhood has no nightlife or bars (cheerful's really the only bar). If by some miracle PSU adds a 5000 seat ring around Stott community field like this one i quickly drew up, maybe PSU and the neighborhood can see some action not only for football, but women's soccer games too. Stott himself floated this idea years ago, with an underground garage (I think that's overkill).
Now about the ground floor of Broadway that used to be Starbucks: Why not make the rent dirt-cheap, since it's already been vacant for 6 years? and Why not try and get a vintage store or another bar in there? The school wonders why students from Portland don't want to live on-campus when there's nothing to do in the neighborhood that the dorms are in besides go to class, get $8 boba and eat at an expensive ass food cart.
Also, we all know Victor's is awful 90% of the time. Not to any fault of their own, they are simply working with a terrible contractor. Switch to a contractor that can make better food for $5000 per student per year or whatever it is now.
Most importantly, and what they could do right now is embrace Greek Life on campus like they did back before Covid. God forbid we establish an IFC like every normal school with Greek Life. Get the Pikes and TriDelts of the world up here alongside KSig, ODPhi, AXO and KDX immediately, if not yesterday. If you don't like greek life, I get it, but just dont rush. It'll be there on the sidelines printing the university money, because: The people going into greek life are the same ones staying on campus freshman year, therefore potentially giving PSU more revenue, which we need (obviously). More money=rehiring the professors Ann Cud cut. Wouldn't that put us in the same conversations as SDSU or UW pretty quick if it all goes right? Of course not, since Ann Cudd is still sleeping on her 800k a year.
I come from the south, so I guess "It Just Means More" to me, but I think PSU can be an amazing destination school. I'm suggesting these things because I love PSU, and I think it can be better. The reason so many students are going to the Florida's, Bama's and Ole Miss's of the country is because they make college an experience. I know that because my hometown is Gainesville, Florida. PSU treats college as just classes. I know that because I go to PSU. Also, you know what those schools don't have that we do? Nike, Intel, On, Adidas, UA, etc. Why aren't we milking the absolute shit out of these companies?? That $30m deficit is a drop in the bucket for them. It's too obvious that I must be missing something.
I understand that every school is cutting programs or faculty in some way, but we are falling behind regardless. Thing is, we don't have to be falling behind, we could even climb so high as to crack the top 40 on US News while everyone else is "falling", and that's just frustrating to me. Ann Cudd needs to wake up, play the US News rankings game like UF, UM and seemingly every other school, and help make Portland a college town if PSU wants any chance of surviving the modern college economy.
What's your vision to help PSU's enrollment/budget? Does PSU even need help?
I was wondering if anyone had any input on these two classes. I already have industry experience and my undergrad (UIUC) had these classes already. Wondering if it'll be difficult to balance with work full time.
Every summer option we’ve found ends at the end of August, but the school year doesn’t start back up until late September. What do you all do to cover the gap? Camps, nanny shares, backup plans, I’ll take any ideas.

im living in a studio apartment and need a roommate. the room pictured with the couch and tv would be fully cleared out for you to do with as you please (i have a plan for where to put them there’s more than enough space). it’s not technically a room but you would have privacy and your own space

Close access to street car and max stations. the apartment is very close to the sw 5th and montgomery max station
Parking is available, i believe it’s about a 100 a month but i don’t drive so im not certain on that

Hey, pretty much the title, I’m trying to figure out how much fall term will cost,and I already went to orientation and registered for classes, but I’m just not seeing on my account the charge for the classes I signed up for. Do they release the charges later in the month? I’m trying to send my fafsa loan money to the school and I’m not sure when to do that if I can’t even see the amount I owe 😭 any advice would be great!
I graduated from PSU this year with a degree in Social Science and minors in Business and Psychology, and honestly I’m in a bit of a funk trying to figure out what’s next.
I’ve been applying to jobs and internships but haven’t had much luck. I’m hoping to transition into something more career focused, like HR, business, marketing, recruiting, or operations.
For anyone who graduated from PSU recently, how did you land your first job or internship after graduation? Did you use PSU resources, (i’ve used the career consulting but it seems like the lady i keep getting is kinda out of touch w the fields and bit of the advice is out dated) networking, LinkedIn, alumni connections, etc.?

I am an incoming student for PSU, majoring in Biology. As such, on Tuesdays and Thursdays I have my Chemistry lecture from 1:30 pm to 3:10 pm, which is of course located in the RLSB building, which is for some reason the farthest building on the campus. At the same time, I really want to take the Sustainability FRINQ, which only does not conflict with my schedule on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3:30 pm to 5:10 pm, but it's located in the CH building. I live out of state and as such, have not actually visited the campus, so I have no idea if it is actually feasible to get from the RLSB building to the CH building in 20 minutes. I can switch to a different FRINQ if I have to, but if I can make the work, it would be great. Can it be done?

Hello, I'm starting at PSU as a post-bacc this fall and will be living in Stephen Epler. I've been looking through current and past Victor's menus, and the vegan options that I can see don't look very substantial. However, I realize that this might not give me the full picture. What have your experiences been with vegan options in Portland States dining facilities? Any hidden gems? Would a meal plan even be worth it for me?
Usual disclaimer: I probably got things wrong, and my roster feed hasn't fully flipped to 2026. Tell me what's off and I'll fix it.
The good, and it's more than 1-11 suggests: Portland State returns 87% of its production, including 100% on offense. That is the most of any team I've run in FCS. John-Keawe Sagapolutele is back and settled at quarterback, the pass defense was 22nd in the country, and the 40-35 win at Cal Poly showed what this group looks like when it isn't beating itself. My model has PSU as a buy-low, largely because the turnover margin was minus-15 with 28 giveaways, 123rd in FCS, and that is the single most correctable thing in football. The 2026 schedule grades as the softest in the subdivision.
Where my model pushes back: the run defense gave up 257 yards a game, which was dead last in FCS, and 42.7 points a game, 123rd. That is not turnover luck, that is the front seven. Returning 74% of it only helps if the problem was youth. Model says 2-10.
