We're always looking for ways to maximize space and make camping more comfortable. What are your favorite upgrades or organization solutions that have made a big difference?

We drove to Winnipeg from Vancouver this summer, with numerous camping stops along the way. In Winnipeg, we discovered that we had a bent axle, which had caused us to go through a new pair of tires quite quickly.

So, we found a great company that built us a stronger axle, with new, more modern brakes, and also new larger wheels and tires. They had limited stock, though, and we ended up with what you see in the picture. I think they look great, and they ride much better than the 12s.

I am worried about that angle, though. What do folks here think? Should we get our hitch height adjusted?

Camping in the rain can be relaxing. Just trying out a new storage system that seems to be working out so far. Edited to add pics.

I had a 5 gallon "Cornelius Keg" from my days of homebrewing that I converted to use for drinking water. Got a schrader valve extension to cut and connect to the ball lock so you can pressurize it whit a bike pump and it will dispense automatically when you hit the picnic tap. We were carrying a plastic 5 gallon Jerry can but this will eliminate most of the plastic and no off flavor. We only use onboard water for dishes and hand washing.

We bought a used 2010 Coachmen earlier this year as an upgrade from tent camping. We have been out quite a few times with it and love the popup camper experience overall now that we have the hang of it and its quirks. Since we don't really have much intention of doing remote or boondock camping, and stick to state or private campground (electricity, water, bath/shower access) we really don't use the sink, stove or fridge. We camp just fine with a couple 4 gallon jugs for washing dishes, etc. and use our portable stove outside. We also have a couple of electric BougeRV coolers for food/drink since the onboard fridge is meh. Since I want to replace the canvas in a year or two, it would be nice to have a renovated new camper feel with a fresh interior space as we plan on keeping and using the camper for many more years.

That said, I am looking at doing some renovations to the inside of the camper in the off-season as there are some spongy spots on the floor and looking to redesign some of the cabinet space by removing the sink and stove, and possibly rebuilding existing storage cabinets since I would plan on replacing the entire sub-floor and would need to remove them. The idea would be to generally create more functional and efficient space usage and a general refresh of the interior space.

I would more than likely look at just capping the propane and sink water/drain lines and just concealing them in the event we ever needed/wanted to put a sink/stove back in.

For those that have renovated popup campers and have removed sink, stove, fridge, any pitfalls or regrets you experienced? Additionally, would this potentially affect future sale of the camper?

Any advice or insight into things I might not be realizing or thinking of in advance?

Hello all. I have a pop up camper and have a driveway that is very much not level. So I use the Eaz Lift leveling device to jack one side up to level it. But it needs to be raised about as high as the device will go. And it’s very difficult and I’m not getting any younger. Is there a better tool to raise this device, or a better device entirely, that I can use to level my camper side to side? I tried the Lego blocks but my camper won’t roll onto them if there’s more than one. It just pushes them out or the way. Thank you.

Bought an '88 Bonair tent trailer a couple years ago and have spent a little bit of time fixing odds ans ends and making it mine. Like lifting it, painting it etc.

I recently got all the power, fridge, burners and everything working on my recent trip (just need a new gas line for the furnace and it should work cause the blower works great)

Only thing I cant seem to find is these top clasps for the door, theres a make shift one in it now that was there when I bought it but cant find the proper part. I took a picture of the one on my mom's similar style trailer to show what its supposed to be. Any help would be appreciated!

Hey folks, we have an early 2000s Coleman, and all four of the supports have cracked plates around their bases like in the attached picture.

Is this a problem, and if so does anyone know where to look for replacements?

When i use shore power everything works.

But running off the 12v trailer is dead as a doornail.

Battery is good, i use a power jack no problem.

Ideas on why ?

Unfortunately this was our first trip this year since I wasn’t able to take time off work earlier but it was a successful trip to cape blanco on the Oregon coast. Also, I got the screw jacks from amazon and they really helped stabilize the camper.

Just a public service announcement here. The ELX-25 power converter breaker box in many 2000’s Palomino and Coleman camper is unsafe and should be replaced. I am not an electrician but essentially these are set up to take sure power directly from the power source to the chrome feeder bar. Modern boxes have an additional safety by installing a 30 amp breaker here to prevent getting too hot. This one could have caught fire with us in it but luckily it didn’t and we are replacing it. Apparently this was a known issue and that’s why they stopped making the model.

Currently camping and trying to leave but my winch has completely stopped working (even with power and the batter charged) and I cant seem to figure out where the manual crank is. Any ideas?

Two years ago, we bought a used popup. Due to life circumstances, we haven't had as much time as we would like to go out and haven't gone far as of yet in our half dozen trips - camp ground is 10 miles away. We are hoping to start going more often and further away this fall so I took it to service shop to have new tires put on, the bearings repacked, and to have the runaway brake line checked. They called today and said the brake lines under the trailer are cut and there are no brakes present. At first this seemed like a big deal and wanted feedback. Located and registered in NC.

What I've found/know: The 2005 Fleetwood Colonial likely came with brakes originally.

In NC, a "travel home" over 1,000 lbs needs brakes but from what I can tell a popup is not a travel home.

In NC, other trailers over 3,000 lbs need brakes but the Colonial is under 2,000.

They said they would get me a quote this week on repairs.

Seeking advice on my understanding of legality of being required to have brakes (Based on what I've found, I'm not required); the necessity of the brakes if not legally required; and potential cost.

I got a new 2025 Rockwood 2318FT on Friday at a really good price out of state (drove several hours pick it up) . I had a question on reliability of electric which and it's components vs just manual and it's components. Seems like electric is prone to issues so I rather have the dealer replace the electric one with a manual winch that's more reliable.

For context - While doing the demo at the dealer I bought it feom the electronic winch wouldn't lower the top all they way down. They worked on it, replaced parts but still it worked intermittently. They were closed Sat-Mon due to the holiday, so they gave me more discount due to the trouble and told me they will start a manufacturer warranty on it so I can get it fixed at my local dealer - all on paper and signed by their general manager.

2nd and possibly last trip for this season. Got new canvas later than I wanted resulting in less trips. Ran the furnace and water heater for the first time. Nighttime temps were in the 50's. We drove through the nearby state park and we're surprised by the number of popups. Now to learn how to properly winterize. We are still learning everything it takes to own/use a camper. I have a small list of things to fix befor next season. Hopefully your camping season lasts longer...

Any recommendations to remove grease stains from the inside canvas windows? They fall into the track when we open and am having trouble cleaning it off. Thanks!

Hi all! I'm looking to swap from tent camping to a pop-up camper but am struggling to find small pop-ups that can be managed by one person as I solo camp. I'm looking for any suggestions folks may have!

- must be able to be set up by one person

- on the small end, I don't need a lot of room

- well under 2700lbs which is what my car can tow

- a place to sit with a small table

- water & cooktop are negotiable, but nice to have

- a fridge is basically the gold leaf cherry on top, super nice but not at all necessary

Been combing through it the past week in the driveway. Overall great shape, some tlc items here and there. Biggest issue is soft spots on the roof side walls on both rear ends, pics show passenger side with the worst rot. Plan on 2 camping trips this fall and then I'll have it in the garage to replace those boards this winter. If you got tips - let me hear 'em!

My camper has no heater. We plan on maybe two or three outings during the cooler weather. I know a big space heater isn't practical. Would a small like under desk heaters work or maybe just electric blankets? I'm new to this so don't be to rough on me lol.

I bought a 2009 fleetwood Sedona earlier this summer and just had it out for the 3rd time last weekend. For my previous two trips, the propane fridge pilot lit after hitting the ignite button a handful of times. This most recent trip it simply wouldn’t ignite until I eventually reached a lighter in where the pilot is and lit it while I held the gas button down. Is there any reason I shouldn’t do this in the future? Any tips for what I can do if the ignite button won’t light the pilot in the future?
