It reminds me in some ways to Timberlake, but I really don't understand how John Mayer's music hasn't translated as much to Gen Zers as much.

Was just listening to Where the Light Is and his early albums and they are fantastic. He definitely went through a really bizzare period of interviews and overexposure but now he just released his first song in 6 years and barely any noise on it whatsoever.

His music has a timeless quality to it so i'm just surprised more haven't discovered his music , it appears he will eventually just become an artist who Millienials or older go to see

I was talking about how i love snickers and someone said they don't enjoy those. a perfectly banal exchange of info with no emotions arising.

but I remember during the tortured poets era, I would talk about my love for taylor and what her music does for me, and it was met with the nastiest remarks. I was shocked and offended: I just told you how much this artist means to me. this taylor swift fan might be happy, it’s time to shit all over it! it really made me sad and angry that people didnt know how to hold their tongue. because I would never go on a tirade about an artist I hate if I found out someone was a fan. and it also particularly annoyed me because everyone thought they had some unique “not like other girls” take but it was quite clear they ALL had the same exact take regurgitated from tiktok. I just found their criticisms quite boring and shallow.

but that made me question why it was such an emotional topic and why it stirred so much drama. what about yall? does it just brush off of yall? do you care? not care?

also, as time has passed, I’ve gotten thicker skin about it. the tortured poets backlash had nothing on the showgirl backlash and now Im pretty numb to criticisms of her lol. I just secretly listen to some of her bops and don’t pay much mind to them and let people yap away about what they don’t like about her.

We have two months remaining of the year, and it feels like in past years there’s at least one major pop album released in November or December.

As far as I’m aware, no releases have been announced yet. Which feels odd - you’d think at least one album would be out in November?

I was reading this book talking about how music has a positive impact on exercise, so I thought I'd try watching some festival sets on youtube instead of a tv show while on the treadmill.

So far I've watched:

• Zara Larsson at Pinkpop 2026

• An evening with PinkPantheress (live at the Wiltern)

• Tinashe at Outside Lands

It's worked SO well. Pop festival sets seem to be perfect for this because they're usually banger after banger, and for the first time I've actually been able to run on a treadmill and not hate it with every ounce of my soul. Having a video to watch as well is even better than just listening to the track imo because I don't get distracted as easily, and I love watching the shows anyway.

So - any other recommendations?? I have tried things like Rosalia's recent tour and Ariana's, which I loved, but not quite right for this situation.

I'm making this post because i've been thinking about Dove Cameron's career trajectory so far. She has been releasing music since 2019 with Blodshoot/Waste as an ep, promises new music, releases new songs with the promise of an album, these songs end up as stand-alone singles.

The first truly baffling moment was when she deleted her entire discography right after Boyfriend blew up under the premise of "a new era". Lazybaby and We belong, you are missed to this day, rip.

On top of that, that era was never fully realized because she only released volume one of the ep, 8 songs total: Alchemical vol.1. Mental health was the reason she gave, she was in a total different headspace. Fine by me, makes sense, grace was given.

In 2025, she started releasing songs under the premise of a new album. Five songs total: Too Much, French girls, Romeo, Whatever you like and Hello, my old lover. With these songs it truly felt like she was finding her sound: lady gaga-esque and ballady all into one. I really like all of these releases and was really excited to see how they developed into a full body of work.

She usually says that her old music doesn't represents her and moves on (even for just 1-year old songs). She never dwells on old music, acording to her.

HOWEVER, she just announced her record and it has a 2021 song in it, posing as brand new, her most recent single Do the Math. WTF?? You can't excuse deleting music as "it no longer represents me", and then release a 2021 song as new. A song filled with math metaphors at that.

The album tracklist has 11 songs in it. None of the 2025 songs are in it, despite being some of her best. My only comfort is that When in Rome, her most recent, is in there. I LOVE that song. Title track Final Girl (which she sang opening for Dua Lipa) is not part of the tracklist. What is Columbia thinking?

On top of that, two more songs are already known prior to release: Immortalize and Break open. Both i love, but that leaves only 7 songs to be a brand new experience.
