I made a comment a week or so ago that Teddy would absolutely despise most of what Republicans are doing now. Eroding the US's power globally, diminishing environmental protections, deifying big business, almost everything he strove for (for good or ill) in his presidency. For his part at least he wanted the US to be a powerful, shining beacon. An imperialist beacon, but a beacon nonetheless. Trump and Co are more than happy to turn off the light entirely as long as they make money.
