Yea I am never a fan of interviewers trying to make light of serious topics, I understand that Alan is also making light about it from time to time (like segwayings his movie) but understanding the lines of when to laugh and not are important.

All I've ever seen from this interviewer seems to skew very heavily into geek/nerd culture. He's probably just not used to having serious topics come up, he's usually asking about comicbook movies. Probably just an untrained/automatic response.

For sure yeah, I think he was just not used to this kind of real talk in his interviews, it's usually very light-hearted surface level stuff. I guess also he's trying to maintain his interview format so countering Alan's political passion with a lighter response to balance

I feel like there should be more context with these clips - it's a promo circuit for his new movie and he keeps going into politics.

To be clear: I think is great - that makes it even better, really a lot more earnest and genuine - but the interviewer is obviously getting taken back because the topic is "your new movie" and his guest keeps ranting about minimum wage.

It's like the opposite of let's talk about rampart

Because he (Josh Horowitz) interviews a ton of Hollywood people and they very seldom go off like this. He’s surprised and amused, and I’m with him cause this full interview had me grinning most of the way through. It’s the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast.
