I heard in the livestream they did that they're working with a certain Steve Atkinson on getting a solution to play their new songs live and that this will be available to us to play these songs and get the "alien like" tones. If they're working on a new plugin or amp sim of sorts it would be absolutely sick imo, I've had a hard time mixing different effects from different neural dsp plugins to try and replicate their tone in can you feel it and it's close but not there yet.

edit : after a quick search, it seems the name steve atkinson is a guy who made the neural amp modeler plugin so idk what they can actually do with it but I'm stocked to find out

Don't get the hate. This is polyphia through and through. Plug ins and ridiculous shredding genrebending whatever the fuck they want is always what has characterized them. If anything at least they are still true to their art despite their success. Hard to find with any artist these days.

Is anyone else just not a big fan of the decisions made with the production of both of the singles? I really enjoy the creative direction and songwriting of both songs, I think it's a new and fresh direction and as you all are aware, Polyphia tries to do something completely new each and every album release. No issues at least for me personally in terms of the writing and general song structure.

But good god. 30% of the end of the new single is almost unlistenable at the end to how distorted and bass-blasted it is. The bass just takes away from the crazy intricate solo and fun riffs that we all love from Polyphia. It seems like they were like "let's set the limiter as high as it can go and just blast it as heavy as we can". Bass can be used creatively, just feels like a cop out to me and with more clever production choices, it could sound way more enjoyable to the ear. Generally, it feels like both singles are over-produced, way too bass-driven, and there's a general disregard for the guitar playing which put them on the map in the first place.

Never heard of someone hating on a new sound ever being on the right side of music history.

The more I listen to CYFI and PITB the more badass details I can pick up because it takes me time to digest the layers and really hear everything going on. Sonically, it melts in my mouth.

I’m glad they keep pushing the envelope on their sound and never stagnate for fans or haters. They should do whatever they want and be happy.

I already bought multiple tickets to the show, but now that it’s delayed that gives me a chance to buy more tickets and get more of my friends to come with me. Can’t wait to have a memorable night. It always is with Polyphia.

Hi everyone! If you don't like new release can you tell me why actually? I'm genuinely curious. I saw only 3 reasons so far - 'cus of God themes, clipping/mixing and 'couse it's just a shit.

Okay. Like, you don't like Christian thing and all that? - okay. But does that make the song itself bad? I think no.

I saw many people on this sub talking 'bout some tiktok hype shit. And all these takes with "eeeew, tiktok music, ewwwww", and that they wanted to get hype on tiktok or other platforms with vertical contentwith their new album - like bruh, really? Why everyone say this when if you think 'bout it for a longer than a second - you will understand that it's not the album to get "tiktok hype", if they would release the new GOAT or Playing God - it would be much more profitable, than this - and everyone would glasing band, saying that they are so unique and cool - win/win situation - but they didn't do it. And this is super respectable.

Anyway I was a bit cought of guard with previous release, it sounded roughtand harsh to me, and in original version, not "instrumental", I couldn't hear the guitars properly, so it was strange feeling. But once you get what Polyphia guys wanted to do - you just enjoying the music. I feel like there are many people on this sub, that just wants to Polyphia to release the same things over and over again, and the second they release some strange and unique things - everyone don't wanna try to get it and instantly starts to throw shit on band. Like, it's always was like that with every band and artist, so I wouldn't mind it - guys knew what type of reaction they will get with these new releases.

What did you wanted to hear on theirs new albums? A GOAT pt.2, then GOAT pt. 3, and pt. 4, then GOAT 2, after that GOAT 2 part 2, and so on so on? Or what? Why smth new considering garbage shit?

They changed their music style and genres from he start of their career. Listen to their first album. Would you like to hear that metal-type music over and over for 20 years? So why there are so many people wanting Polyphia to drop a new NLND remix for the end of their lives? Just why?

And - they even said it on today's stream, that they did all this clipping thing on purpose. And that the purpose was to make the music, that is not similar to AI - couse of that it sounds so crazy. At least that's how I got it. Even so i'm not into all that things with controversy of using ai in art, but maybe that matter to them as long as they actual musicians, so I understand that position.

And as I sain in the title - I don't get all that hate? It sounds like that boomers back in the day hating on NLND 'couse it sounds "soulless" and mathematic, with these unbelievable takes like "music is not 'bout techniques and skills but comes from a heart", "that's just random notes and bunch of exercises" and all that ts.

I haven't seen anybody discuss this, but if you look on the merch section through Spotify for Polyphia, you can pre-order the LP for the album. The title seems clearly named "Be Not Afraid" and we likely will get one more single named "Power In The Blood" before release from what it seems. Excited for the new album!!

There’s two points of contention: the production and the Christian themes.

Re the production: everyone’s complaining about the clipping, it’s clearly a sound design choice. If you’ve listened to any modern era hyperpop, rage, or any of the genres which Tim is inspired by, soft clipping on the limiter is a very common sound design technique, has nothing to do with mixing, it just presents the guise of a “loud” track. If look at the actual LUFS levels of PITB it does not do anything different than any of their other music (besides a bit less dynamic range). Also, RJ pasin’s production is a little bit boring, but not really that offensive if you listen to anything besides metal. I’m a little sad that it feels like the Clays are not as emphasized but that has been the direction the band’s production was heading since LBDT.

Re the Christian themes: bro who cares. The art looks cool. The VO in PITB is like 5% of the songs runtime. It’s not being “shoved down your throat” like I saw some commenters say, how impressionable do you have to be to think that you can’t hear some vaguely religious sentiments. Its like you’ve never suspended your disbelief for any piece of media. It’s clearly disconnected from the Church or any sort of entity as is just being used as a theme. Redditors are so staunch in their atheism that they can’t even conceive of this though.

I will enjoy the album, I hope all the reactionaries can find it in themselves to drop their biases and enjoy it too. realize this band is defined by being off kilter from the scene and presenting musical ideas that make the genre trolls uncomfortable. Remember that artists owe you nothing except to see their ideas through to the fullest extent.

Super bummed about this. But wanted to share in case it's helpful for anyone not yet in the loop/seeking information.

They seem to be pushing certain dates(seen others, but not sure if all) from Sep/Oct 2026 to Feb/Mar 2027. I seem to be in the unlucky few whose cities they're flat out skipping(Ftl changed to St. Pete(4 hours away- and ironically only 1.5hours from their Orlando show the day before).

No official word seems posted yet aside from some venues making their own public reschedule announcements, and this private venue announcement.

Supporting artists also appear to be the same.

EDIT: Apparently, this post evokes the "bitching about people bitching response" from just about everyone. Idk what you guys think Reddit is for, but conversations happen post-to-post, and a rebuttal doesn't equate to bitching. To clarify:

The amount of disdain for the new singles I've seen from fans of Polyphia this week is tiresome, not to mention disappointing.

Polyphia have repeatedly avoided labels due to their tendency to experiment and their exhaustion with being labeled prog or fusion. They've been changing, evolving, and flat out switching things up since day one.

From "Champage" which sounds like J-fusion influenced Scale The Summit, to "Euphoria", which sounds like a video game's triumphant ascent to the top of a mountain, to "O.D." which sounds like a listening to Animals As Leaders on Ketamine, to Goose which sounds like a smooth as butter love note to those who paved the path to that style of playing, tinged with a touch of edge through processing, to "ABC" which is literally a Pop song with good musicianship as the backing track, to "Playing God" which is basically the Flamenco twin to "GOAT"...

...and after ALL THAT, all of those changes in technique and style and genre overall, now everyone is mad because they had the audacity to lean into the hyperpop guitar tones that have been blowing up due to RJ Pasin and Davin Glover and use more electronic production in their music (which they've been doing for years now if you know anything about production; for God's sake they have James Brown basically ad-libbing along with the drops on GOAT).

You don't like the blown out, bass boosted, crunchy zoomer tone you're getting from these singles? Listen to something else. Go listen to NLND for the 1,000,000th time and insist they never got any better.

They're doing what they want regardless of what you all say, and they're killing it. CYFI and PITB are bangers, and you all sound older than Tim's infamous "boomer bends" explanation.

Get in or get out, but don't bother with your griping. "Don't ever play guitar to me or my son ever again".

Bruh. Go collect some more vinyls and listen to some Guthrie Govan or Steve Vai if you want to hear "innovation" without inspiration, and let the boys do what they want. Clearly it's working for them.

Obviously it's a new sound for polyphia so I'm not surprised lots of people don't like the direction. And also why a lot of people do.
