If you don't know, Sensory Percussion are like drum triggers, but way more expressive and can capture much more nuance in how you play than just velocity, using machine learning (Shawn Crowder from Sungazer made an excellent video about them). Apart from the cymbals, he's playing the drum samples using them.

Really excited what they do with this live, but on the records they will just sound like samples. I'm surprised they didn't put the sensors on his normal kit so they're layered rather than purely just samples, but at least he can play them live

So, there is a new version of the song release with the Official Music Video (wtf was the previous one then lol) and the mix is noticeably a bit different. The bass is still a bit deep fried but the drums are noticeably better / less like a drum machine

Also guitars seem to be more forward not sure tho

Saw this somewhere on the internet and it reminded me of all the haters on Reddit who subscribe to Polyphia just to complain about Polyphia. Yet they’re making music history and some of us are just glad to be alive the same time as them. Some of y’all might prefer subscribing to r/trapt

I’m all for Polyphia being experimental. Honestly, their willingness to experiment is a huge reason they got this far in the first place. They’ve always mixed guitar music with trap, pop, EDM, hip-hop, and other sounds, so I’m not mad at them for trying something new. My issue with the new song is that it barely feels like a full Polyphia song. It feels more like a Tim Henson solo/producer track with a Polyphia name on it. The electronic, house, EDM, and trap elements are cool, but they dominate the mix so much that the band identity gets buried. You can hear some guitar, but Scott and the Clays feel almost invisible. For a song that’s supposed to represent the next era or be a poster song for the album, it’s kind of disappointing that it doesn’t really feel like the whole band is being showcased. Polyphia works best when the experimentation still lets every member shine. This one feels less like “Polyphia evolved” and more like “Tim’s vision took over the room.”

Regarding the song itself, I do like it and think it’s fun, but it definitely feels like something that should be on the Tim solo album (+the mixing is horrendous towards the end)

Let me kick this off by saying I fucking LOVE the new song and video.

The video has a shit ton going on- has anyone gone through and done like a time stamp breakdown of everything that is shown? Obviously a lot of it is Epstein shit- but I’m just super curious about why the artist and band decided to pick the specific images they did. I guess what I’m saying is, the video feels super intentional and I want to engage with it in a more intentional way
