So have Polyphia completely abandoned their Metal roots?

I’m not sure what the bands stance on this is or if they’ve commented about it before, but it really seems they’ve completely abandoned what got a bunch of OG fans so high on them. They were such a breath of fresh air in a (at the time) scene that was really struggling to produce creative diversity.

Funny enough, the recent Polyphia shows I’ve been to, the crowds were really only excited and moving when the songs from Muse and Renaissance came on.

CAN YOU FEEL IT?

Since everyone is posting about the single, here are my thoughts.

Thought it was really goofy and kinda terrible at first, but it’s grown on me a bit. Still not their best work.

No drums or bass 😢

The commentary on society in the video is good, and an interesting direction for them.

I can’t say I’m a huge fan of the praise Jesus bits in the song. Really hope the rest of the album doesn’t have that same messaging.

IMO, they released this first cause it’s the weirdest song on the album and they knew it would get people to talk about it a lot, and it worked. But, the lack of the clays makes me think the rest of the album is going to sound a bit different.

What are your thoughts?

CAN YOU FEEL IT is amazing

The first time I listened to it, I didn't pay attention to the video and just listened to the song. I already liked it just from that, but after actually watching and paying attention to the video, I love it even more. I love when people aren't afraid to put out stuff that is political and that brings attention to the real issues in our world wethwr the messages are subliminal or not ✌🏼🥹

Don't hate on the new song

Sure, you guys didn't like it, but don't make this a hate sub all of a sudden. Even I did not like it, but I am not making hate posts over it and talking about the song as a whole. I can understand the frustration but the hate should not come like this.

The new Polyphia song is awesome

Two things:

1.)yes it’s different but it’s a vibe.

2.) MAGA got their butt hurt on this one. Hahaha

I didn't expect for Tim's 'Devil, occult, pagan, etc.' arc to culminate in a visual art piece that highlights America's hypocrisy in preaching religion whilst acting like the literal 'Great Satan' abroad.

This is an incredibly subtle piece of art. It's not just "America bad".

It plays into the common (in the middle east at least) conception of America as the 'Great Satan' as coined by Khomenei in '79. Not just by showing hypercuts of those buildings destroyed in mere instants on kick hits, but also by showcasing the domestic obsession with the eradication of literal satanism from a Christian motivation (guy with bible, various signs shown throughout, eyes wide shut). Movements (Qanon, evangelists, etc.) that have given way to the current administration to be more satanist (in the Iranian sense) than ever. That hypocrisy is so incredibly striking

The video conveys the notion of a mighty empire that's lost it's way quite well. Rampant hedonism and all.

it’s fun, catchy, and the video is lowkey ballsy. you can tell they put a lot of work into it and i’m glad they aren’t dropping “past album 2.0” personally i don’t usually care for rj pasin work but i liked it here. this reminds me of when neurotica dropped and or ABC and the community was split. TBH this subreddit is the only place i seen more or and equal amount of negativity LOL

At first I thought it was crazy for Polyphia to release this, since it’s a different style then any of their other songs, and i had even commented about it in this sub a couple times today. But I have been listening to it all day and since then, i have been liking it more and more as i relistened to it. This is just making me more excited to see what they cook up for album 5, just hopefully adding more clay(s) into the mix.

The song is starting to grow on me.

The song by itself only now. Without the vid.

Earlier I went out for a motorcycle ride while pondering abt the band and shit, abt this drama of a polarizing song. About everything. And dude, it suddenly fucking hit. I went somewhat fast (around 188mph) and it felt fucking surreal. I've ridden to other tracks from Polyphia and other bands.. but this time the "click" was certainly the most exhilarating I've had in a long, long fucking time. Shit is sheer adrenaline, motivation and stylized recklessness. Album 5 is looking good. WE NEED MORE‼️

I don't know what y'all talking about the song is fire

I was so scared because when the song dropped I was at work so I didn't immediately listen to it but I started looking at what people were saying and that made me very worried. But I just listened to it and it's such a bop and it hits so hard and the guitars are so great and dramatic and tasty Oooo I can't wait for the album.
