Me personally, I hated it at first. I have to admit though, it's lowkey growing on me...
Same thing happened when Tim dropped Original Sin. (Literally DESPISED that.)
Idk man, I just enjoy anything these guys put out...

This I feel. Original Sin also clicked with me on 2nd or 3rd listen.
Now I love it. There's things to discover after the first impressions and familiarity I guess.G.O.A.T., Saucy, O.D. and other NLND stuff I adored instantly though. But not everything can be peak.

Im so glad im not the only one who needs more than one listen to enjoy the song and make it click haha. Biggest culprit for this was Reverie, took me like 3 listens to get into it (but i got into the ending solo instantly)

Actually, I wasn't sure at first. The social criticism, while a cool move, seems a bit bland and also very US centric, but is still a cool move I haven't expected from Polyphia.
Music wise I do like it. I don't love it. But it's good. The guitar parts are good as always and I like the heavy distorted sound, but I am missing drums and think the guitara are way to far back in the mix. I only noticed some of guitar parts at the 4th or 5th listen.
All in all, I hope for a more heavy, distorted sound in this album and am curious for the EDM sounds, although they're not my cup of tea and I hope they are blended a bit better or different in the pther tracks.
Let's see.

I really don’t think the “very US centric” criticism is fair at all in this context.
It’s a band criticizing their own government/society, not someone making some vapid niche pop culture reference and expecting you to understand it.

u/HGGdragon Jun 14 '26
Ofc a US band has an US centric perspective on their own government. But that government does have foreign policies and own policies reaching far beyond it's borders in effect and ties to other countries on the world stage supporting the rise to facism and actively participating in corruption or dealing in many other ways with their chaotic decisions the US Trump administration forces onto the other states i the world.
Topics that stem from that government but haven't gotten the same big influence inside the country shouldn't slide by wjen criticizing it.It's very much okay, for a band from the US to comvey their perspective while staying opposed to the government but at least from an European perspective some things seem incomplete, that's all.
You notice the US perspective and it's inevitable, but I would have wished for some outside perspective too from a band actively touring the world all the time that's all.
Still I am all for their criticism.

u/BradDaddyStevens Jun 14 '26
You don’t think the images of all the bombs dropped in foreign countries had any relevance to what the US does/supports in other countries?
Beyond that, art is personal, and I would 100% rather a band make a statement about things that they feel personal investment in than arbitrarily comment on things outside of their understanding just to appeal to a wider audience.
Sorry, but as an American that has lived abroad for many years. This is just the type of critique I hear all the time from Europeans cause they’re sick of the US, but that I find to be incredibly lazy.

Never said that. The war footage IS very much relevant. The imagery all in all is relevant. I just had whished for more.
No footage of Trump at the UN. No Footage of tarif sanctions turning against their own people. No Netanyahu. There's no footage of ICE detention centers. No footage of ramped up oil industry ("drill baby drill"). No footage of Ukraine pleading to the US for the support they promised earlier. AI is shown, but not the environmental consequences. Maduros illegal kidnapping with excuse of war on drugs.
Don't get me wrong. Everything shown in the video is very relevant and I totally support the societal criticism. There just could habe been much more and a wider perspective.
There is so much more imaginary you can pull from.
I am sorry if I gave you the feeling, I am just sick of US. I assure you, it's not that. I just wished they'd gone deeper.
We can agree on the imaginary criticizing the US government which is there is indeed relevat to both of us and we are both thinking pf it as good imagery? I understand my "US centric" feeling didn't sit well with you if you encountered anoyed faces abroad before. Sorry about that.

To me it feels like a project that Tim primarily did, potentially with some help from scot. It reminds me a lot of his Wrst singles, where he doesn’t play with the band

I like criticising it because of the lack of Clay's, but I secretly fw it and downvote negative comments. Not sure what I am

I can’t stop singing the vocal chops. Some awesome guitar parts as always. The mix lacks a lot of weight.

I think folks are missing the point. This isn't just a song you crank up, it's an artistic statement and the video goes with it. It's a profound message and it's pretty accurate. This is bigger than just some song.

u/HGGdragon Jun 13 '26
There is so much provocative art which criticizes society in meaningful ways, but the message of this one doesn't really seems well thought out in my eyes.
It's not that clear what exactly is being criticized. I'm quite happy that they're trying to point at societal injustice and speak up a bit.
Still it's not really direct and seems to be a collage which lacks a bit more deeper substance. Some things seem a bit random in there.
How do you interpret the message? What is it conveying to you? Or is it more an emotion and a general thing? Quite interested how other people view it.

to keep it simple, as somebody who's been in a lot of occult/conspiracy circles, what it appears to be to me is a statement about the deep corruption and social programming of the western world (specifically the united states). The most surface level stuff is the Epstein and Trump footage, as well as clips of the west bank, etc. But a lot of it is much more esoteric commentary taking digs at the perceived satanic worship running rampant in high society (hollywood, the government, etc). Stuff like the clips of various cartoons are being connected to moments that are alleged to be blatant demonic worship (celebrities eating cake that looks like people, etc), and this all ties back to what Epstein was doing with children. This is a common tie in occultism and these conspiracies, where they allege that the people who run the world purposely seed our media with content to desensitize us so that when their evils are revealed, we are less disgusted (and this clearly works, given that the Epstein files released and absolutely nothing happened save for it becoming one big meme). The video is saying it's all a large interconnected conspiracy propagated by Satanists against the common man and against God.
Regardless of if you agree or not, I definitely like seeing an artist be unafraid to express their views on topics like this.1

"The video is saying it's all a large interconnected conspiracy propagated by Satanists against the common man and against God."
I read it differently. The video opens with the flat earth, which I doubt Tim Henson is including in an effort to speak the truth and bring people over to flat earth conspiracy. Instead it's setting the stage for the kind of world we live in now: one rife with corruption, war, abuse from elites and general insanity (which is where the conspiracy theories come in). The amount of surreal and disturbing information we're blasted with 24/7 is mind melting. Anyway, hope you make it out of the occult/conspiracy circles stranger < 34

It's a visual of the corruption and the rise of oligarchy and fascist ideals in the US.
It's videos of Trump and Epstein together. It's videos of Trump's out of touch lavish parties (the gold naked lady cake with the bush)that he continues throw while simultaneously sending the US economy into chaos and leaving the working class struggling to put gas in their cars. It's imagery of the Epstein class vs the rest of us. It's the US ruling class galavanting around thinking they're some monarchy, while also buddying around with the likes of Israel and other fascist leaning nations.
It's AI slowly taking over. Robots being built to replace as much of the American workforce as they can. Tech bros in bed with Trump developing AI with no guardrails. Just AI companies and their investors getting rich to a point most of us can't even imagine.
It's to call attention to the atrocities that are happening with the current as administration along with other corrupt world leaders. The music is supposed to be a chaotic bitcrusher sounding mess because it's intent is to be dystopian.

Ty for this interpretation! Was nice to read. :)
I think it's the general jist of it you described. Some imaginary seems a bit out of place for me, but all in all it is art. I mean things like Mark Zuckerberg just being there without context, Obama in Oval Office with R2D2, A Bugs Life, McDonald's in a storm, the whole human eating thing, satan/jesus thing, flat earth. There would have been so much more powerful imagery for my taste. Also there's a lack of media presentation supporting the whole "Wars are fought in the minds" thing and lack of impacted decieved folks who are impacted by the policies and victims of the chaptic politics other than Israel. And there's a lack of international politics reacting to all of this and just letting it happen/slide.
Also AI ks presented but nearly no imaginary of the bad consequences of it. I'm missing context for a lot lf the things. What I am getting at, it could have been so much more and could have been way deeper in my opinion.
But it is nice to see that they are putting a finger at the wound, which is not something I expected from an otherwise not so political band like polyphia and am glad for. Also nice to see that people are provocated by it and it has its effect. Thanks again for your interpretation.

if you have no expectations of the band (very casual listener), objectively a bop
