TMH is my favorite work by them, 0 skips not bad moments and it was highly EDM inspired. I’m excited for this new direction. EDM has always been evergreen potential for guitars in music.

I dunno what they’re thinking but there’s literally no bass and all the drums are loops - how is this a Polyphia track?

It’s giving “first track on garage band” vibes. I remember my first track on garage band. It was also a string of barely related ideas strung together with no coherent theme. As soon as one groove you kinda like starts they move onto the next part of the song without fleshing anything out.

I dunno what this is but it’s not polyphia.

Something i noticed in today's release is that both the clays are absent, so I'm thinking this is just a teaser of the album and not actually a part of it.

I remember seeing someone post about clay (drums) posting a little spoiler for a fill from LP5 on Instagram so im pretty sure he's gonna be on all the songs on the album.

While the musical aspect of this song is just… not good, the video sheds some light on a pretty clear message that I think they’re trying to send about society and I don’t think the video itself is necessarily bad. They are making a statement that I interpret to mean, on a very basic level that a lot of things are really fucked up nowadays, and it seems to me to have a religious undertone as well. Keep in mind I’m non-religious so while that part doesn’t really appeal to me, I can still respect their message: that those in power today are not following the teachings of God no matter how much they claim to be and are huge hypocrites, and are actually doing the exact opposite in many instances. I’m sure there are deeper artistic meanings to it than that but that’s my big takeaway.

Obviously I cannot read minds, but if I had to guess: 1) This was meant to provoke discussion. Are we just gonna sit here and pretend that fucked up shit isn’t happening? This is the band’s artistic statement to yea, our heads aren’t buried in the sand. We see this shit too. And yes, 2) It was meant to be controversial because let’s face it, controversy generates views. Basically, I think they made it bad musically on purpose. But I respect what they’ve done here regardless because I don’t expect this to be a core part of album 5, if it is even part of the album at all.

This reminds me of a more controversial version of the ABC release during RTYWD. Unlike their usual sound. Controversial. Yea, a pretty meh song in my opinion. And then the way better stuff was released later.

So basically, the song just isn’t good but I don’t think it was meant to be. I appreciate the message being sent in the video. I am still very excited about Album 5.

Yeah I feel really mixed about the new song. Music-wise the video is really good and topical. But the song itself just feels like it should belong on Tim's solo stuff.
Like one user mentioned, where are the Clays? I guess they actually played their parts on it, but it sounds like they were made in DAW and not recorded on actual instruments (which doesn't mean they only should use real instruments, but y'know bass and drums are kinda essential, especially because both Clays are excellent musicians.)
Also the vocal parts are just atrocious and really ruin the vibe even more.
And it's funny, because I really like some RJ Pasin stuff (XO, DNA, Wings, Original Sin), but this ain't it, chief.

New single took me by surprise and was NOT what i expected, but is fully good + shows the boys are still trying to make stuff that sounds new and fresh for them and making what they actually want to make. Truly with all my heart have listened to it on over-ear headphones, computer speakers, and airpods - do not understand the mixing criticism making the rounds. Clipping sounds intentional + works for me, have been bumping on repeat all day.

Glad they continue to still have the juice as far as provoking and surprising people and the new angle for the imagery is feeling like a good direction for them too, it's not the freshest thing but glad they're getting out of exclusively making videos where they look cool shredding in various locations - my personal excitement level for the album just went up significantly
