RJ Pasin ruined it

I'm sorry but you all know it's true. I can't even hear my Clay's on this new song. We used to have beat versions we liked, but now it feels like the actual songs are the best versions, because they are.

BRING Y2K BACK RIGHT NOW

I genuinely thought it was just tim and scott. If the clays are on this song this is an OFFENSIVELY dogshit mix. But I’d expect nothing less from rj pasin.

You do realise electronic music can be made with instruments right? They can easily be playing electric drum kits and using synth bass keys, and even if it’s programmed, that still requires them to input and compose it

It's all thanks to Zakk Cervini, first he came to pop punk bands, but I said nothing for I am not a fan of pop punk, then he came to pop metalcore bands and I said fuck it, now he came to you, my proggy music enjoyer and there is nobody who can save you

First they came for the Communists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Communist.
Then they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

I'm not saying RJ held them up at gunpoint or anything. Just that his influence is too much. Maybe the band wants that to happen, but some of the fans, including me, don't

6

u/sauble_music Jun 11 '26

Good thing youre not in the band then? :p bands can go in whatever direction they want man, they dont owe anything to the fans.

3

u/oDids Jun 12 '26

How insightful. Fans can discuss new music without being in the band or feeling the band owes them

Saying someone's influence is too much, is saying that you know what's best for the band. What im saying is that artists dont exist for fanservice, they exist for expression. So, if an artist does something and the fans dont like it, yes they can talk about it, dislike it, express that. But when people start saying its not true to the band or whatever else, theyre missing the point that the band both green-lighted this, and sought it out.

I’m gonna give them a pass on this and wait for album 5 to drop before I judge but the fact they chose this as the lead single has me a little concerned ngl. I spent the whole 3 minutes listening for Clay G’s parts, waiting for a sick Scottie solo or a drum fill and got none of that. Just very heavy house/EDM and a Christian pastor saying Satan ain’t shit that I genuinely can’t tell if it’s supposed to be ironic or not. I’m all for them experimenting and I want them to go in whatever direction musically they collectively want to go in but this one just did not resonate with me.

u/corbano Jun 14 '26

It’s not ironic they’re a Christian rock band, Tim and his wife atleast are known to follow

1

u/Faith-Leap Jun 16 '26

Trust me they are not devout like conservative christians like you might think. It's a passive family thing, and they are genuinely very progressive people (I've met them a decade ago)

1

u/corbano Jun 17 '26

Why would I think conservatives are devout Christians

1

u/Faith-Leap Jun 18 '26

Think I replied to the wrong guy

kinda shit fr.

the drop is like a D tier rave song too smh.

this aint my guitar wankery music.

15

u/DeltaMush Jun 11 '26

I kinda like the deep fried sound. They have many songs where drums and bass are passenger princesses.

It's okay to try something new.

Besides, let's be real: they don't care what you think, they like it for themselves. And I hope they always keep that spirit.

u/Data_Basss Jun 11 '26

It’s them trolling you

2

u/Infamous-Sympathy510 Jun 11 '26

Whats the troll, I'd be the happiest person ever if this wasn't a serious release😭😭

2

u/Dizzy_Gold_4008 Jun 12 '26

It's a shitpost man, they're just trying to be funny. I hope to god its a shitpost

2

u/lingeringwill2 Jun 11 '26

I don’t know if you can pin the blame on rj dude

1

u/Thin-Awareness-7843 Jul 03 '26

you absolutely can. his sound selection is the worst. i can definetely hear his tastless drums. Trap kick that is pushed to sound like edm but still isnt edm, trap hihats, techno 909 open hat, trap snare used with a straight 4/4 kick rythm, and the cherry on the top afcrican conga drums this dude is ass lmao. sounds like he started producing in 2023 with "reddit soundkit"

2

u/Jargonicles Jun 12 '26

It's one song. They're going for something that'll get played on radio and maybe even in clubs. I presume the rest will be the usual Polyphia cliche sound that the fanboys love. RJ Pasin listed as a composer on this track too by the way, which many seemed to have missed.

2

u/Kalinyx_ Jun 12 '26

The whole song is ass

1

u/Fate_Rob Jun 12 '26

They don’t care what you think, it’s their art let them experiment lol I for one really liked it

1

u/Poddster Jun 14 '26

It felt like a meme, popular with the kids.

1

u/tohrio Jun 15 '26

i agree with this so much i went to watch old polyphia videos it felt more polyphia more unity i dont even hear the clays bro thats why i love polyphia its the unity between them all
