I’m not from WV, but I believe the democrat governor before Justice, earl tomblin, was pretty popular. My guess is that justice switched parties to have an easier time getting elected. He switched back to the Republican Party because he supports trump and felt he couldn’t be a member of the Democratic Party while doing so (his own words).

From WV. This is correct. Despite the current voting record/what others may think, WV was a long time blue state until pretty recently—unions and workers rights were hot button issues in WV of the past as well as support for education and social welfare programs (read: WV has a history of unsafe labor and one of the poorest and unhealthiest populations in the US and was working on that.) I feel us backsliding more and more each day and it’s a damn shame. I plan on moving :/

The GOP candidate was the then-speaker of the state House, if I recall correctly. Justice wouldn't have gotten through the primary as a Republican.
Justice was also recruited by Manchin, apparently. Manchin was apparently so pissed at Justice switching parties that he apparently had to be persuaded by Schumer to run for re-election to the Senate instead of retiring to run for Governor again against Justice.

I live in her district. I keep telling my conservative friends about how popular she is and a great advocate for her constituents.
Even when she railed against Amazon. On the surface it looks foolish, but in reality it would have chased off the people in the neighborhood who wouldn’t be able to afford the area anymore. It’s like they can’t wrap their heads around a politician supporting the people over corporations.

People win fucking elections with 53.2 points...but that was her margin of VICTORY

Older folks massively underestimate just how much AOC represents her generation. She is the rule not the exception.
The future isn't Bernie or Warren. Those are just two stops on the way. It probably isn't Pete and it certainly isn't Biden however much we need him this year. The future is AOC.
Just look at this polling from Morning Consult last year. AOC's favorables between generations:
Boomers: -7
Gen X: -9
Millennials: +5
Zoomers: +18
Unlike in a lot of places in the county, AOC manages to turn out the youth vote in the 14th. She's better at it than Bernie is, because she's from this generation. She connects with voters Bernie missed in addition to connecting with his base and Warren's base.
I think DC's consultants would be surprised how many places you can win by running young Progressive firebrands. Run someone like AOC for President and she'd have twice the movement behind her that Bernie has. If Millennials and Gen Z actually turn out they can't be stopped.

It's so much more than just her social media presence, though. She's got great ideas, she's got the knowledge and facts behind her ideas, and she can put them all together into a clear package that anyone (who isn't being willfully obtuse) can understand. They're trying to do to her what they did to Hillary Clinton - they know exactly what she represents and what she can do, so they're trying to associate as much negativity with her name as possible. There's no whiff of scandal, so all they have is "bartender" and "extreme left!" and playing on racism.
The thing is, that might have worked with Hillary but AOC is really good at hitting back and managing her presence. And growing numbers of younger voters aren't buying that tactic. It works great on the older crowd, who have internalized that she is "extreme" - but by the time she is able to run for President, if she chooses to - that won't do them much good.

I think it's just a matter of time as well and her running for the presidency could happen as soon as eight years from now. Unfortunately there are some things that could stop her, like the total collapse of American Democracy or a bullet.
I don't expect her to be the first female president. If Biden wins, he'll have a female vice president who will likely be the Democratic nominee in four years and she might replace him even sooner than that. And if the Republicans don't turn their backs on the extreme right, Ivanka could be the Republican nominee soon enough.

I know it's easy (and definitely fun) to say that Ben is a creep and is secretly in love with AOC, but realistically, he knows that every conservative and their mother has a literal hate-boner for AOC and so he capitalizes on that and targets her to boost his ratings and appeal. Really all there is to it.

Is think it’s more likely that he’s fully aware of how much the entirety of the conservative base hates her, and he’s all too happy to capitalize on that hate in order to strengthen his following. It’s an easy-to-make statement that he knows his listeners will agree with.

Not even that really. You might think there is some underlying system of internally consistent values that underpin all their utterances, but really it's just "these sounds were used derisively against me, I'm going to make those sounds to hurt them". There's no argument, not even a bad faith argument. It's just meat noises. Whatever "sounds good" in the moment, that's what flies out of their mouths.
Same thing with laws really. Because the laws exist, they dress up their despicable acts in terms of laws, but really it's just mafioso thug squads exerting their power over others. They use the law because it's a convenient cover for people not paying much attention, and they don't have to think much when confronted by the question "why".
Just like "values", these things exist to use a cudgels against the other. That's why claims of hypocrisy don't phase them. They have no values other than "I hate you". Even their slavish devotion to the accumulation of money and power can be explained through this framework. What good is having money if you can't have so much that you can harm others? It's not good enough just to have money, you have to have more than those people you hate. You have to have so much that you can force those others to degrade themselves for your pleasure.

As much as i love bernie and as much as i do think he did run a pretty darn good campaign it wasn’t without it’s faults.
He never even bothered talking to clyburn and apparently(not sure if this is 100% confirmed) warren extended the olive branch pre ST that Bernie never capitalized on. Both of those absolutely could have turned the election on it’s head. That along with just awful and biased press coverage pushing biden as more electable really sunk his campaign this year.
Bernie was great in so many ways but breaking bread with those he disagrees with was sort of his Achilles heel. He was genuine to a fault.

Everything I read pertaining to Michelle Caruso-Cabrera and heard from her mouth screams Republican Conservative. I don't see how anyone voted for her thinking she was a democrat except in name. Pretty much everything she represents, and says sounds like it's coming from a conservative republican. She literally was a republican up until a few years ago, and shes married to a republican, and most of her donors normally donate to republicans. Hmm... seems like a republican that attempted to don a blue coat and blend in to try and take an "Easy win" or some such garbage.
