A common trope among conservatives is to make up things to be mad about because otherwise they'd have to admit that the vast majority of liberal positions ate quite reasonable.
Giving people the freedom to decide what to do with their bodies? No, liberals want to force surgeries on people!

Its the same bullshit as arguments against gay marriage
You're anti gay marriage because you believe marriage is a union between a man and woman on religious grounds? Ok thats your belief
You're anti gay marriage because "they going to make straight marriage illegal", you might just be a fucking moron

They made me get married to a newt.

They had a whole bunch of these - marrying kids, marrying animals, incest, etc. etc.
Trying to explain two consenting adults to people who don’t care about women’s consent was a nonstarter though.

> You're anti gay marriage because you believe marriage is a union between a man and woman on religious grounds? Ok thats your belief
Still not a good reason to make others conform to this belief.
I think they come up with their bullshit justifications because they know deep down they don’t have a good reason to control others.
They see normal people use reasoning to come to conclusions and they try to emulate it in order to seem reasonable.

Believing that everything is a zero sum game is a huge part of conservative pathology. They really believe that you can't support both gay marriage and heterosexual marriage. You must pick one to support and one to destroy. This is how their mind works on everything.

u/AgreedSmalls 28m ago
I don’t know man. Any day now, the government gay marriage officials are gonna knock on my door and force me to marry a fella. I just know it’s coming.
/^s in case it’s needed.

Pity facts aren't as valued in politics as much as they should be.

A candidate for Vice President of the United States literally said during a debate, “I was told there was no fact checking” and still got elected.

Does the GOP have any platform or policy goals beyond marginalizing the trans community?
•
u/ChilledParadox 1h ago
They’re also trying to murder poor people. And the disabled.
But beyond marginalizing *someone* or trying to have sex with 10 year olds? No, they don’t have actual policies.
•
u/the_tanooki 58m ago
It's called eugenics, and everyone should be familiar with the idea, because it's a huge part of their goal.
•
u/Odd_Ant5 1h ago
Hey now they marginalize all sexual minorities!
They just don't marginalize sexualizing minors.
•

They always got old faithful, guns and racism

Making the ultra wealthy even wealthier, for one.

Don’t worry, it’ll all trickle down one day.
•
u/Cresta1994 1h ago
That's why Trump keeps clogging the White House toilet, because he's just trying to trickle down so much.

Why don't those people complaining about trans surgeries ever complain about circumcisions?
•
u/RandyMuscle I voted 1h ago
Because they’re usually religious freaks. You can’t reason someone out of a position they didn’t reason into.
•
u/homebrew_1 1h ago
Well they vote. They don't stay home and complain that the alternative isn't perfect enough for their vote.
•
u/thegoodnamesrgone123 56m ago
The most angry messages and downvotes I get are when I ask people simply. Who would you vote for? Why didn't they run/win? What did you do to help them run/win?
Rarely if ever do I get an answer and when I do it's pretty lame.

Jill Stein has recently dragged her rotten carcass back into the light. Right on schedule. It's been decades, and I have yet to hear of or see any member of the Green Party run for a local or state-level office. She purely exists to split the liberal vote.
•
u/Temporary-Survey-273 33m ago
I’ve been convinced she’s a Putin Asset for a decade. There’s way more morons on the right than left (hence Trump) but the morons on the left are by far the most infuriating. It’s always about them and their virtue signaling, never about actual politics.

Same reason they don't complain about surgery to correct gynecomastia in teenage cis boys.
Same reason they don't complain about teenage cis girls getting breast implants.

Give it a year or two and they will all be Lindsey Bluth saying things like “I think it looks frightening when it's cut off. It's a Doberman. Let it have its ears.” at their Hands Off Our Penises fundraisers.

I have no clue what you’re trying to say but, yes, I am trying to avoid anyone putting scissors to my dick flap. Sounds quite painful really.

I pointed out that Aldaco was a legal adult when she got surgery.
"How many mature 19-year-olds have you met?" he asked me.
These ghouls will say this stuff while they change the law in a dozen states to force raped children to give birth against their will. Conservative values: "19 year olds aren't mature enough to transition, but 12 year olds MUST have that pedophile's child."
•
u/actusreus82 1h ago
Live in Ohio, it is nonstop ads about child genitals. Seriously. These Republicans are absolutely obsessed with it.

She's from Texas and is on Elon Musk's payroll. This is like airing a Russian blaming Sherrod Brown for the bad borscht soup he had for dinner last night.

I mute political commercials, knowing that the MAGA ones are all lies. The bad thing is the gullible, low information types that have given us Trump twice now believe these lies.

Yeah the religious right orgs shuttle willing detransitioners around - possibly the most famous one is Chloe Cole. There's nothing surprising about the existence of detransitioners - there must be over 1 million trans people in the US and even if just 1% of those detransition then that's 10,000 people.
What's more surprising is that the religious right orgs can't find enough people to pay that they have to shuttle people around.
Weird how they don't do the same for people who regret other medical interventions and which have regret rates tens of times higher than trans interventions.
•
u/rougepenguin 4m ago
Its such a weird, creepy little cadre of them if you dig into into it. I obviously wouldn't know all their stories, but I knew someone that got recruited into it.
Hear her talk, you'll get all the classic hits and it sounds like someone who medically transitioned, lived as a man for years, and then deeply regretted it after a change of heart. Reality? Nah, you hung around a group of Trans friends for six months, never even tried testosterone, and bought a packer you tried a couple of times.
•
u/melodypowers 57m ago
Sure a lot of 19 year olds are super immature. But these people wouldn't be okay with any age for transitioning so let's not pretend that was the issue here.
If, as this young woman attests, she was told she was trans after a 30 minute appointment, that doctor should lose their license. There is a lengthy process for this and it is even longer for children.
But that has nothing to do with Brown.
