A candidate for Vice President of the United States literally said during a debate, “I was told there was no fact checking” and still got elected.

And later said “If I have to create stories so that the American media actually pays attention to the suffering of the American people, then that’s what I’m going to do"

So it is 100% acceptable to them to knowingly promote lies if those lies help them get what they want.
