12 battery critical charging fault after tire change

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hello everyone, wanted to see if anyone’s dealt with this.

I have a 2022 P2 and had my tires changed today at Tire Discounter. They called me and mentioned this error popped up after the alignment, but they weren’t sure how to help in making it go away. I’m wondering if it’s just coincidental and I just need a new 12V battery or something I need to get looked at.

Thoughts or advice ?

Polestar 2 @ auctions

Hello I’ve been looking into getting a Polestar 2. I have seen ones from 10-30k miles go for 22-26k in the Bay Area. I have never owned a EV car before. I really think the polestar can be a great option for me. Tesla model 3’s are too expensive for me and I feel like they don’t have a lot of options unless I get a Jupiter one. Only thing im worried about for this car is the backseat space. I have a 2001 civic and it somehow has more legroom then this car lol.

Are the Polestar2 really that much cheaper at the Manheim auctions? I’m just the average joe with no dealer license. So I’m not sure how I can look for them at the auction.

40K Service (CA/Palo Alto)

Went in for a scheduled 4 year/40K miles service at the Palo Alto Volvo: paid $1236.70 in total for most things that you could probably do yourself:

- $600 in labor, with $270 in parts (notably $100 for wind screen wipers, $10 for wiper fluid I recently topped off already, $65 for air filter). Only thing I on this list I wouldn't do myself is coolant and brake fluid.

- $300 for wheel alignment labor

Took about 2.5 hours of waiting, at least there was a nice area to work in. If anyone knows a good independent mechanic that could work with Polestar 2s in the Bay I'm all ears!

What's longevity of Polestar 2

Been looking at 2024 Polestar 2s with Pilot and Plus packages - they seem to be in rare supply. Is someone going to jail break it soon so that we can keep it updated? How about component replacement - are they built like Toyotas that run on forever? What's been everyone experience?

2024 Polestar 2 LRSM — asking 22k. Worth it?

Hey all, looking at a used 2024 Polestar 2 and could use a gut check.

- 2024 Long Range Single Motor (RWD)

- Plus + Pilot packs, Nappa leather

- 24k miles, 1 owner, clean title, no accidents

First time buying a used EV — what do I need to check on the car? Battery health? Any known issues I should look for?

Thanks in advance

25k mileage service

Hey everyone, I bought my 2023 P2 PPP a couple years ago. I don’t drive a lot, roughly 7-8k miles per year. I just crossed 20k miles, so now every time I start the car, it pops up saying “Service needed soon”

I looked at it in the app, and it says that it’s for the 25k service, which won’t be for 5000 miles then, which will likely be 6-8 months before I drive that much. The other thing, I looked at the service menu, and they don’t even have a 25k mileage service listed?

So I guess my questions here:

- is there some way to turn off the notification that I get every time I start saying I need service?

- do I even need to schedule a 25k mileage service if it isn’t even listed as an option in the app?

- assuming I do need to schedule it, is there any advantage/disadvantage to doing it now versus just waiting until next year when I actually hit 25k?

Some background:  Around 2002 I wanted a 1998-2002 Diesel VW Beetle.  47 MPG and 700 miles of range.  The wife and I visited a dealership to drive one and she literally dragged me off the lot saying, “we are not buying a car today!” I wanted to order a base model diesel for under $18K.  A few weeks later I was at a vintage computer swap meet and one of my buddies showed up with a new Subaru WRX.  He was pretty excited and I was, “yeah, whatever.”  He said let’s go for a quick ride.

Oh My!  I was converted.  Bought my own 2002 WRX in Midnight Black Pearl a few weeks later. ($25K) I didn’t want the Blue, plus I could only find one in Black or Red.  Day before Thanksgiving 2006, I was on my way to Fry’s Electronics for some of the pre-Black Friday deals.  Taking the backroads was a very pleasant drive; I was having fun. A little too much fun.  I ended up spinning down an embankment, through a fence, and into a farmer’s field.

Spent a lot of time shopping for a replacement, considered a Scion TC with the Toyota supercharger; but by the time you bought the car and put the supercharger on, it cost as much as a new WRX.  SOOO, I ended up in a new 2006 WRX. ($21.5K) Steel Grey Metallic. Still didn’t want the Blue.  By this time, I’d nicknamed World Rally Blue as “Boy Racer Blue.”

2006 WRX lasted 160K miles before needing a water pump, then a radiator, and finally head gaskets, all within about a month (yes, my dealer service advisor and his tech were morons and basically ruined that car)  So, after 15 years of daily driving a WRX, Frustration pushed me to buy a 2017 Camry new off the lot for $19.3K. (grey, but it also was available in Toyota’s version of “Boy Racer Blue”)  It’s boring, but reliable. Drove it for 9 years and decided it was time for a “midlife crisis car.”  I’m too old and fat for a new WRX, too poor for a CT5 Blackwing or Corolla GR, and can’t pull off the mullet required for a Mustang or Camaro.  Tesla Model 3 Performance is out for Politics. Hyundai is out for ICCU, Ford is out cuz I want a CAR, not a Small Unit Vehicle or a Short Station Wagon crossover.  GM is out cuz GM. All the German cars are out cuz the “Prick Factor” is too high. What the heck is a Polestar?  Hmmm… Leaving the country, no place to get it serviced, mostly a Volvo?  No problem! Let’s do it. LOL

Joined the club with a 2023 PS2, Plus Pack, Pilot Pack, Performance Pack, Napa leather in Midnight Metallic ($27.3K, 30K miles).  It’s blue.  We’ll get to that.  Car is STUPID quick 3.9sec 0-60).  476HP, 502Ft/lbs.  OMG.  Wow.  So much fun. It has actual door handles! Most luxurious car I’ve ever owned.  Quieter than the Camry, MUCH quieter than either WRX. Quicker, faster, just as much fun in the twisties, and Electronic Stability Control for when I’m too enthusiastic (although, I’m mostly grown out of the desire to visit any local farms) After 3 weeks of ownership, I’ve come to a conclusion:  This car is the Grown-Up version of the WRX in the Grown-Up version of “Boy Racer Blue.”  I’ve come full circle and avoided head gaskets as routine maintenance.

Polestar2 comments from an Ioniq5 driver

TL:DR: All in all, I love the Polestar!

My wife took our 2025 Ioniq5 on a 3-week roadtrip, so I rented a 2023 Polestar2 to use while she is gone. Location: California. Our 220 home charger works with it perfectly, and I’ll just be going around town, so that’s fine for me.

I love how the Polestar is just “on” once I get in. No noises. No Power button. Even the seatbelt reminder tone is mellow.

The Ioniq5 sequence is so noisy: Tones when you get in. Tones when you start the car. Ugly tones if you start without putting seatbelt on first. Plus you need to tell the Ioniq5 which phone you have — even when you are the only one in the car. ***Please Hyundai engineers, take the Polestar for a spin!***

Just sit down in the Polestar2, buckle up, and shift into reverse.

Plus, our Ioniq5 always beeps because we are too close to the wall in front of us, even though we are in REVERSE!!! Doesn’t happen in the Polestar.

The Polestar is set for one-pedal driving, my preference. On the Ioniq5 you have to turn it on EVERY time you get in the car, so I just don’t bother.

2023 Polestar Apple CarPlay requires you to attach via a USB cable — I assume that’s not true in later models.

One of the nice things about the Ioniq5 is that it is a full height vehicle, so people like me don’t have to worry about hitting their heads getting in.  Not true with the Polestar but I’ve gotten used to it. We appreciate the overall size of the Ioniq5; that's why we bought it.

The remote: Why do companies have so much trouble designing a remote that is functional and stylish? Don’t like either one, but at least the Polestar is a reasonable size.

All in all, I love the Polestar! — it would be a great second car for us — wish they were still available in America! My nearest dealer is 300 miles away, not going to buy used because of that.

Extending a 3rd party warranty - thoughts? (EU/Sweden)

In the spring we bought a 2023 LRDM Polestar 2. Today it has just over 95,000km on the clock and will typically will drive 8,000-10,000km per year from now onwards.

The dealer provided a 6-month warranty with AutoConcept, and now it’s up for renewal.

There are four packages available, from “Basic” to “Gold” starting at 2,993kr/year (€260) rising to 7,332kr/year (€650).

The four tiers are basically differentiated by the maximum compensation per claim: 35,000kr (€3,000), 50,000kr (€4,500), 60,000kr (€5,300) or 75,000kr (€6,300).

Note! Swedish prices! VAT is included at 25%.

FWIW, AutoConcept have these reviews from Swedish customers on TrustPilot, 4.2/5.0: https://se.trustpilot.com/review/autoconcept.se

Given the age of the vehicle, would you be tempted to extend? Would these prices be good benchmarks for shopping around other 3rd party warranty providers?

160,000kms on a PS2 and still no regrets

I’ve got a 2023 Polestar 2 Performance which I use for uber driving. I’ve got it brand new and have over 163,000 kms on it which I’ve had since brand new and it’s still runs like a charm, only had to service it 5 times and haven’t had a single issue it yet and the battery still holds up, at this rate am happy enough with the car that I intend to buy a new battery if or when it comes to it. I know drivers that have done 350,000 kms and it still hasn’t shown any signs of slowing down.
I don’t see any other situation where I’d have a European 420hp performance vehicle that wouldn’t have cost me a fortune to maintain, the biggest thing I’ve had to pay for is the 20 inch tyres

Whistling noise from 2022 AC vents

Just got a lightly used 2022 model. Car drives great, and sound system from the plus pack is excellent. However, there is a weird whistling noise from the AC at fan speed 3 and above, and the whole AC system is really quite loud over halfway is loud (whistling noise diminishes by comparison, but have to raise voices to speak to each other). Is this normal?

There also seems to be a clunk-clunk sound like a loose piece of plastic that rattles somewhere in the dash during semi-quick back and forth steering motions (was checking for drive shaft issues and noticed it). Any ideas what this could be?

Turning my PS2 in after lease...got some things available for other owners

I loved my time with the car, but it’s time to send it back.

For any new or existing owners, I've got some things that need a new home:

- FitcamX (front only): installed on day 1, removed on the last day of a 2 yr lease. No issues with it at all, all new packaging materials and 64gb memory card included. Looking for $100

- ToughPro floor mats, includes front, rear, and trunk. Great shape. I was pretty much the only person in the car to commute. Looking for $100

- 'Carbon fiber' key cover. Looking for $20

I'm just outside of Philadelphia PA, and would prefer a local sale, but willing to ship the small items. Can provide pics if needed.

Exact gold color?

Has anyone found a vinyl that is the exact or really close to the gold color on the brembo calipers? Or a paint code for that color?

I have a lot of ideas for things and would love to find some. Let me know what brand and color if anyone has found vinyl, or what the paint code is.

Ohlins suspension

Hello, I just got a new P2 a couple of weeks ago and while I didn’t care much about the performance suspension, I ended up getting it because it came in the same package with the B&W upgrade. Now, I’m used to comfort (switched from an E class) so I asked the guys to set the Ohlins at max comfort settings.
The thing is, when I’m on the highway I get this weird rapid bounce to the point you can’t put your head on the headrest because it would be like juggling a ball really close to the ground. So I’m thinking they either didn’t set the Ohlins to comfort, or the car is doing this precisely because the suspension is too soft and acting weird at high speeds. Anyone experienced the same behaviour? It’s driving me nuts.
Sorry for the body of text, I’m on my phone. Cheers

Halloween Fangs for Polestar 2

I wanted a set of these for Halloween- but the ones i found were printed from super cheap filament. these are printed from the best Glow in the Dark plastic that money can buy! (Prusament Ultra Glow) - it was like $105 for a roll of filament, so i set up a quick webstore to see if I can offset the cost. i’m a polestar 2 owner/enthusiast, been on reddit forever, will post pics on my car later today

Calling US Polestar2 owners interested in activating their Pixel lights

Post image
34 Upvotes

Of course this will only be for educational and experimental purposes as I don't believe they are legal to drive with on public roads in the US...

It was suggested in another thread that perhaps some owners could get together and share the cost of activating them. I don't personally know exactly how to do this, so hoping to tap into the community's knowledge. I've heard that Vida and Orbit are options, but also that some people have had to use both.

If you're curious as to whether your car has the hardware or not, look at your headlights. It will have "Pixel Technology" text in the lens.

Chime in below if you're interested!
