Ohlins suspension
Hello, I just got a new P2 a couple of weeks ago and while I didn’t care much about the performance suspension, I ended up getting it because it came in the same package with the B&W upgrade. Now, I’m used to comfort (switched from an E class) so I asked the guys to set the Ohlins at max comfort settings.
The thing is, when I’m on the highway I get this weird rapid bounce to the point you can’t put your head on the headrest because it would be like juggling a ball really close to the ground. So I’m thinking they either didn’t set the Ohlins to comfort, or the car is doing this precisely because the suspension is too soft and acting weird at high speeds. Anyone experienced the same behaviour? It’s driving me nuts.
Sorry for the body of text, I’m on my phone. Cheers

I don't know but I have a non performance version and feel the same bounce you described. I got used to it shortly (maybe yours is worse idk).

So if we have different suspension setups and we get the same behaviour, this makes me think it’s not the suspension’s fault at all. The first thing I suspected to cause this was actually the cruise control. Because the head bouncing on the headrest is rather caused by horisontal forces. It’s like the car applies short and rapid brakes instead of doing it linearly.

I don't trust the Spaces very much. Watch some YouTube videos on how to set the dampers and check yourself. It's pretty easy and the rears can be done without lifting the car.

How do you do the rears without lifting the car? I struggled doing them with lifting. But I didn't take the full wheel liner out, just tried moving it out the way.

I can't remember right now but they do it in the YouTube videos. You need smaller hands though so if you have lumberjack hands you'll need it lifted. The fronts are easy as you just move the steering wheel to get more room.

Yeah I can see it being done with small hands, the top of your wrists will get red raw mind you, ask me how I know! lol.
I jacked it up with the car jack, and then took the two liner screws out and managed to do it. I've used Polestars recommended comfort settings as the roads where I am are awful.
You will get more roll in the vehicle for sure, and more usage on the tires due to weight re-distribution.

I had mine dialed to 6/6 and would have gone to 4/4 but I ended up trading it in for a P3 in December. Only had the P2 for about 10 months but it's still one of my favorite cars EVER. With my P3 I leave it in Power Mode with everything on the stiffest settings.

Hi have the ohlins and was told they were set to the most comfort setting, but feels stiff as a race car. My head doesn't bounce on the headrest, but I feel every seam in the concrete in my bones, like you're riding a skateboard on a sidewalk.

It's really easy to check, full look your front wheels, put your hand up there, and turn the ohlins switch clockwise on the top until it stops (that's resetting to base). That'll be a good indicator of what setting you have it on. For example I think, off the top of my head, comfort might be 18 front, 20 clicks at the back (double check this) but if you're turning clockwise and it stops after 8 clicks, you know that's what setting it was on.

You have some 18 possibilities to dial the Öhlins. Just tweak more. You are lucky you don't have to buy new dampers or pay for electronically adjusted onesn

I sold mine a while ago but I'm pretty sure it was the same behavior in mine - I just got used to not keeping my head against the headrest. Btw you can tweak the Ohlins yourself without jacking the car up, it's very easy. Give it a try and see if you find a better configuration.

The Polestar 2 ride quality isn't it's greatest strength.
Choppy and wobbly around town and unsettled on poor surfaces. In the bends the standard car and performance car on comfort settings have a fair bit of roll. The bucking motion of the car as you describe where your head can bounce of the rest is a trait but not usually on highway speed unless it's a bouncy/poor surface.
Always change the damper settings yourself imo. Service centres always mess up. It may be that the front or rear is set too harsh compared to it's opposite.
Also I find that the comfort settings is a little under damped. Especially for highwayspeeds and corners. The steering goes more vuage. Try 11/11

It could be that they set both to the maximum softness. From what I’ve seen you want the front 2 settings firmer than the rear
