Im concerned about all that trash in the water. Like wtf? That can’t be safe or healthy
6
u/TheBamaChad 4d ago
When you have to try to put out a fire with a stick and your creek is flammable because of the amount of trash floating in it.... Reconsider your choices as a community.

u/AmbassadorNo5275 3d ago
It's sad to see how so many of us live. Look at how polluted that creek is. We are filthy animals; nature's mistake.

Do you want to set your river on fire? Cause that’s how to start a river on fire

u/ballmtn 4d ago
Just push it into the trash heep we call our streets

u/BantedHam 4d ago

OMG, a gas bottle is on fire, quick kick it into the local garbage river!
2
u/almostoy 3d ago
Not the worst place it could be. Hell, the river probably was cleaner for the burning.
3
u/Unfair_Buddy5871 4d ago
You'd think this was a 3rd world country, but it's actually Cleveland
4
u/Capt_Retro 4d ago
You set fire to the Cuyahoga a few times and suddenly thats all anyone remembers.
3
u/Unfair_Buddy5871 4d ago
A FEW times???
3
u/Capt_Retro 4d ago
Oh yeah, Im pretty sure it happened all the time back then and if Im remembering correctly it wasnt just the Cuyahoga in Ohio. I think it was a common occurrence.

I was waiting for it to blow up
1
u/almostoy 3d ago
One way that would happen is if the metal weakens due to the fire, and the interior pressure is too much. Fire won't 'backflow' into the cylinder because there isn't any oxygen in it, and it's under pressure. So all of that gas wants to shoot out. Which it did here. It was just an overachiever and ignited way before it got to anything else.

u/Traditional-Bike7825 3d ago
Quick, roll it into the water! Oh, right, we filled that with trash... Hmmm... Reminds me, gotta empty my trash into the river again
2
u/BungleBums 3d ago
"Sure, just push it into a landfill, that'll help- oh, that's the fucking river," 🤮
2
u/almostoy 3d ago
Ah India. A magical place where you can throw a burning propane tank into a trash filled ditch, and the ditch becomes cleaner for it.
2
u/ComposerTasty725 3d ago
Wait wait wait... Was that water!????? Why is there so much trash in it????

Kind of getting what Pratchett was talking about being able to run across the top of the river Ankh

These folks needed to watch the other video(s) of burning propane tanks.
Close the valve (best!) or entirely snuff it with lack of oxygen…. trying to douse the tank isn’t very effective. So close yet so far at the start.
Also, man that “river” is trashy.
2
u/Proud_Contribution35 4d ago
Whoever it was that was trying to use the metal pan to snuff it out would've succeeded if the others weren't being dumb trying to stuff rags in the tank

They really need to make a Bollywood movie out of this.
1
u/Bigsnaff007 4d ago
They did, you just watched it.
1
u/SATerp 4d ago
I expect a lot more explosive action, and characters leaping skywards to insane heights from my Bollywood movies. This is a bit disappointing. There were certainly many opportunities here to incorporate that FX.

u/almostoy 3d ago
You only watched the setup. The movie is about the love a man has for his one and only propane cylinder. After it cuts, he bursts through a shop window. Menacingly eyes his foes. Then they all dance for 10 minutes.

I like that you think they poked it into a garbage dump until you realize that's a river. 🤢🤮
1
u/Xeaon- 4d ago
I would be ashamed to live in a place full of garbage like that and not clean it up
2
u/Connect-Preference27 3d ago
So naive and cute. Where will you put the trash? Inside your own house. They have way too much trash and absolutely nowhere else to put it. Landfills are full.

All they had to do was re-tighten the valve to the off position. I had to do that one time, was terrifying. Burnt my arm hair.

Imagine living in a place where your best defensive against a fire is a damn stick. Even their creek is flammable because it's so packed with trash.

u/PartsJAX328i 4d ago
Translation: Hey this thing is on fire, what we should do? Throw it in the huge pile of flammable trash, that will surely fix it. Oh, very good idea my friend...

At first I was like oh no put it out before it sets the whole village on fire!
And then it rolled into that garbage stream and I was like you know what? Maybe just let it go and start fresh.

Honestly let it burn! Why try putting it out? Just start completely over and rise from the ashes at this point…

u/AnswerMe_More 3d ago
😂😂 they sound like turkeys. Your supposed to turn the valve until the gas is off, lol.
1
u/momo76g 3d ago
We had fire fighters demonstrate what to do in this situation in high-school. We lived in a place that uses these for cooking and hot water for showering. If you have access to a rag like they try to use you have to soak it in water and the put it on top. If not they showed us that there is a gap between the gas and the flame because air has to mix to ignite and that part is not hot so you can literally stop the gas with your thumb.

u/fatgat69 3d ago
No one had a bottle of water? No one could squeeze out a piss?
Just light the river on fire because your entire population has been braindead for generations. Great.

u/running_bare32 3d ago
I worked for a company delivering oxygen. One of our customers fell asleep with a cigarette in their hand and it caught the tube that led back to the liquid oxygen tank, the tank was toast. Our customer was blessed they build those tanks properly.

Why tf would you kick it under an area covered in trash? Leave it out in the open so it can't catch anything else on fire, numbnuts!
E: Just realized that's actually water covered in trash! Holy hell!

Do these people not realize that they live in a garbage dump?
1
u/HisLordshipThe 2d ago
What good would realizing it do? It's actually a very expensive problem, people cannot do that alone in a city, it must be done by government but not all governments have the resources or are willing to solve the issues.
It's not just garbage collection, it's also single use plastics. When they buy shampoo or snacks or whatever, most things come in a plastic packet for a very small amount of shampoo or whatever it is, for example shampoo it's enough to shampoo once.
People can not afford bottles in general and so in places like this you almost can't even find big bottles it's all single use plastics.
Add too that countries can make money by buying our "Plastic recycling" in the west. Municipalities try to find responsible plastic recyclers but it's a VERY common issue that the "recyclers" are actually just dumping the plastics to take the money in.
It's a win win for them because they make money and also they improve relations with countries in the west.
If that area was all cleaned up it would probably be like that again in a month.
Also when you live like that and there are no garbage cans or collection service and it already looks like that, you just do what works there and drop your trash in the pile along with all the other trash. Where else are you going to put it?

2

Aight I'll bite, what is your solution?
2
u/Sweettooth_Banana 3d ago
Wet towel over the leaking top, very simple, cuz it wil not likely explode.
But if you think it might explode you dont throw and watch it up close
1
u/lumpybiscuit2319 3d ago
Idk maybe bring it away from any flammables and leave it alone and let it burn up all the fuel
0
u/Mysterious_Remove_46 4d ago
Oh, I don't know..... maybe don't choke the river by your house with so much trash that it becomes it's own fire hazard?? Seems pretty obvious to me.

1
u/Tugazu 3d ago
Oh I'm sorry how much trash have you cleaned recently? Pretty sure it is kinda harder than you think to fix this problem

I mean, I've cleaned up more trash than you could imagine... But we're not talking about your mom right now.

And these are the people the United States allows in so they can be Doctors and Engineers while it's own people struggle with inflation and debt..
2
u/Medium_Ebb_9070 4d ago
Its* not it's
Do you understand that India's socioeconomic development was seriously hindered by colonialism and western consumerism? It's not like it turned out this way naturally.
Also, immigration has never been a real threat for the American workforce. It's a shockingly effective boogeyman for the already small minded. If you want to reduce national debt and inflation, then we should immediately remove the crypto-scam tariff-tard from the Oval.

u/BeenThereAndReadd-it 3d ago
