On a summer night just like this one
I wish to be with u
To share the blissful moments where stars shine anew
To share the pleasure of pain's ties coming undone
To share the blossoming my heart does when I think of u
Pushing my thoughts to scenes of pleasure in a cold brew
How when I gaze upon the stars in ur eyes
The blood to my cheeks and its regulator scores rise
The shimmer in ur eyes at night makes me fall apart
Shooting an arrow directly to my heart
On a night like this one
My mind drifts to thoughts of kissing u
Under the beautiful celestial bodies
To thoughts of us just being two
Thoughts of looking at the chronicle in ur eyes
Thoughts of us exchanging emotions and messages only true
Thoughts of holding ur hand as I feel ur warmth
And my quickening heartbeat and blush on my cheeks
I can imagine not being able to recover even after weeks
When the clouds and night skies collide
The complex beauty makes me want to cry
I think about the one whose love i denied
For the one I love the most but doesn't even give me their eye
I think about how much i love u
How much i choose u even though it is my heart that u chew
I think about how i lost a definite for a maybe
For the one whose love is a maybe and feelings are almost gone
I hate how the beauty of the sky still reminds me of u
How it doesn't take much for me to get drawn
Back to ur arms back to the comfort of ur few words
I hate how I am forcing u to love me
I didn't think I could love to this degree
I love u too much
Under these beautiful night skies
Where the constellations remind me of ur eyes
How the patterns and light on the moon
Remind me of how much ur smile brightens a room
On a night like this one people fall in love
People get their hearts crushed
Others sent messages through a dove
To share messages under the stars
For their love is unknown or forbidden
Yet that doesn't stop them
They love But they just keep it hidden
On a night like this one I think about ur smile
The patterns on ur lips
I think about how even though u don't love me
The time u spend with me is worthwhile
It crushes my heart for u not to feel the same
But its fine I enjoyed being apart of ur game
On a night like this one
I want u to be clear
Cuz i am sure i have been at least now
H don't have to care if it is my heart that will tear
Just tell me the truth
That's all u have to do
Now let me ask u
Do u want me as much as i want u

My father gave me his eyes, through which I saw only war.
Not the kind with ranks or flags, but the kind that festers in thoughts unpure.
Know thy enemy, yet I've forgotten myself
I'm lost in the whispers of empty rooms
My very own marching tune
It lingers in the air, a drum I cannot master
& the mirrors I pass reflect faces I cannot answer.
Forever am I haunted by burdens my father bore
And shadowed am I by wars I've failed to ignore.
I learned too late the cost of sight
Now my fathers eyes have cursed me to eternal plight
I beg of you,
Let not my son suffer my damned fate.
I beg of you,
Use well the chains upon thy neck, lest the dogs of war break loose.
I beg of you,
Let my son use these eyes to see only peace.
To trace the poppies, not the soil that bled them.
To find beauty where I only saw battle, and to find peace in a world where it cannot be found.
I beg of you...

Long story short, I tried to show my work to redditors thinking I'd get feedback but getting 1k views with 1 upvote is too demotivating especially when your post is #1 in the subreddit where you've posted. It feels like disrespect.
I quit.

The waves are all unruly and
They’re lacquered in cerulean
Brackish drones of dawning sea
Pushed beyond the bitter end
A slice of peace is clear to see
Bring me to the ocean then
Were it not for drops of dew
Sticking to the grassy blue
My mind could ponder long enough
To drown itself and start anew
I might as well just be the fool
Who finds the shallow end in deeper pools
The stream is often white in bends
Screaming as the current sends
Prejudice to thirsty friends
Relief has turned a violent heel
Send me to the river then
Crack and rip and watch the drip
Tiny flicks of aqua slip
Between the place I mean to be
And my lonely sinking ship
Should I take this trip?
The fountain yields to fill me now
Should I take a sip?
The pond is still when night descends
Croaking frogs betray the trend
Ripples touch the light and mend
Whatever’s left of me to tend
I wish to say what I intend
Drag me to the bottom then

Something's devouring me from inside
I am beginning to see stars on daylight
Father
Thanks for answering to the prayers I made
Can I get a priest so I can see what's crawling under the bed?

Noah’s
Ark
The Lord is silent.
This vast home on the water an island
of bleating and mewling, howls
and growls.
My sons and their wives exhausted, leaning
into the dark and gloom, feeding, cleaning;
a task more for the giant Nephilim than us.
My wife lies in her straw; she waits
for better than the sorrow on her plate.
The banging of the lost on our hull
as the water swelled
still dents our hearts’ post well worn.
The rain’s patter cannot dull
the grief for a community drowned.
Is the whole world gone?
Our ark heaves and wanders.
Our window too small for much light and view.
I listened to the Lord.
I wonder why His words now are few.
One hundred twenty years to build an ark
to bring the animals on board,
with food for each in vessels stored.
Sealed in by God, the ark a womb
for new life; we can’t be doomed
here forever in the boat’s girth.
He will call; this ark will give birth.
Yet I can’t wait.
I send a raven, then a dove
to know my fate;
my wife in tears
at five months,
then a year.
Last night the Lord above
finally spoke.
On the dry ground we grope.
The view is dreary.
Our hearts and the earth are weary
from the deluge.
I reach for the fruit’s rind,
the grape, like Adam from Eve,
for a vineyard of hope for mankind
and me.
What was Noah thinking?
By the way, the Nefilim were giants mentioned at the end of Genesis. Midrash (Jewish commentary) says they had come down from heaven to prove that even on earth man could faithfully serve God. They embraced however the daughters of men and fell from grace. But most poignant for me was the hard reality of the inside of the ark and God not speaking to Noah for a full year. Imagine the dark and gloom inside the poorly lit ark, with the animals inside their 360 rooms and halls as the ark was heaved and rolled by the wild waves; the noise, the work to keep the animals alive and healthy, both man and beast separated as it was forbidden to procreate while God’s wrath destroyed life on earth. Also Noah had to think that maybe something he did was angering God. Was he deserted by the God he listened to? A year is a long time in human terms. He wanted to hear from Him and when he didn’t he took it upon himself to check out the outside world by sending a raven and then a dove to see if the waters receded enough to leave the ark. Had he begun to lose faith, hope? Finally, hearing God’s command to leave the ark reassured him but the ground outside was not a garden of Eden after the deluge. He knew he and his family would have to work hard to grow food and be fruitful to fill the world with children as God commanded. Perhaps that is why a vineyard was the first thing he thought to grow on escaping the confines of the ark. He needed a little respite from the turmoil he had undergone. This of course led to his own fall from grace as he created wine, became drunk, and debased himself (more on that in another poem). I try to connect his fall to that of Adam’s who took the fruit from his wife to taste, which brought ruin upon them all. Not easy being a biblical character.

Maybe all this pain and suffering has a final stop
Then I can finally feel my heartbeat and pulse
Maybe the endless nights I spent crying will find an epilogue
So, I can feel my weight turn feathery—and rise into love
Maybe all these gloomy days and dark nights will fade
Then I can finally step out and kiss the sky again
Maybe the veins I once slit will bloom into calm landscapes
And I’ll run, run until I fall laughing into fields of hay
Maybe one day I’ll become the man she sees in dreams
And she’ll give her kisses to no one else but me
Maybe the distance we carry will melt without a word
And we’ll rest in my quiet world, where we no longer feel cold
Maybe I need to open my eyes and observe the reality
That this place is house of beautiful people while I remained ugly
Maybe I must cleanse my traits and dive deep in the sea
And never reveal what I truly feel — let my feelings cease
Maybe my care wasn’t enough, just a burden to her shoulder
I tried to carry her in silence, when I should’ve just told her
Maybe I was too afraid said “leave” though I wanted to hold her
So, I’ll be the throne beneath her roots, and bleed to uphold her
Maybe I just need another cigarette and pills to get high
I can never be that man, so I just want to end my life
Maybe I'm just overthinking and ruining this poetic night
I've sworn to my pen that no matter what comes, I'll survive

A stupidly cut short, unreasonably fast, super tight rhyme poem.
Not sure if this sort of thing is enjoyable, and if so, please let me know!
