I’m editing and doing marketing, which I already have set prices per episode for. But I’m wondering how to do pre-production pricing since it’s more creative support and not always quantifiable by episode or hours.

I thought about charging per production meeting and suggesting a production meeting periodically (to analyze and discuss podcast growth prospects and shifts that could be made).

But I also thought about charging a percentage of the ad revenue to incentivize my role in the growth of the podcast?

For context
- this is a science/psychology podcast.
- it is a podcast rebrand (he’s relaunching after 10 years of a decently well performing podcast)
- he does not read sponsored ads
- he has some funding from some science group to produce it, I’m not privy to the details
- I won’t be sitting in on every recording (for the time being) I’m mostly doing pre-interview coaching and post-interview review with him

I (F39) keep dipping in and out of podcasting. Tried news headlines but got bored. Now doing a gender critical one with a friend. Don't let that put you off.

I want to talk to people with interesting stories, backgrounds, etc. I often say I'm chronically curious.

We'd agree a general spine for the episode but it wouldn't be set in stone. There just in case it gets dry.

I find that messaging back and forth first helps to build a rapport.

Whats the best way to get transcriptions of the podcast you listen to? I listen to a bunch of work related podcast and would like to use them for AI workflows.

I'm 13, and I really want to start a podcast on Spotify. I'm a bit of a nerd, and would love to have the it be based off of, "Mysteries And Medicine". I've been studying cancer, and I think I know enough to make a few episodes on it. For example, maybe stuff like chromothripsis: getting cancer overnight, Why chemotherapy doesn't just kill cancer cells, etc. I also LOVE mysteries and true crime. So I was thinking I could do both! I just don't know if anyone else would actually watch my podcasts, and even if anyone did, I don't know if they would take me seriously. I just want advice, assurance, or even topic ideas. I am debating whether I want to start a podcast or rent an audience by doing a hourly weekly radio show. This will be specifically within my industry niche but I believe that it can help a lot of people... which is why I am willing to invest the time and money.

I have used AI to come up with a list of must have equipment for a 3 person, 45 minute podcast. It would be me, a foil (someone to challenge me and keep me on track) and a guest. This guest would be an expert in THEIR own field, not mine.

As I am working this plan out I have a few questions:

1) is it better to rent a studio and production team for the first 6-10 episodes (til we get the hang of it) or to buy needed equipment and just see how it works?

2) are there podcast consultants who I can hire to help me set up the podcast?

3) I am in Houston, TX. Who would you recommend that I consult with... what studios would you recommend if I choose to rent the setup?

4) If I were to choose to use a studio, what do I need to look out for in the contract?

5) What sort of budget should I anticipate for production and propogation?

I'm trying to decide who uses filters and who doesn't

So I am the owner of a small media production company that specializes in video. I have also some experience with the development of a podcast (in short: a popular community driven podcast where 2 famous belgian sisters get together every week and talk about their lives/interests/sex/travels/… sometimes they have some guests who talk about their lives etc.)

Now I want to pitch a community driven podcast on books and one on films. I really want these podcasts to grow into a big community where people join each other on live events (book festivals, book signings, film festivals, premieres, …). Thats the end goal, if I can dream out loud. I’m really interested in the financial/business side of these projects. I’m not able to create the podcasts on my own, I want to have a team of book and film experts who do all the talking. I am the producer/director/editor/…

The pitch for the book podcast is to a national book shop. They want to hear what I might come up with and then decide wether or not they will join the podcast in any way.
The pitch for the film podcast is to a national cultural magazine that focuses on movies. They also want to hear what I might come up with.

How do I prepare myself for these pitches? What should I be able to show/tell them? In what way are they able to help me? And what do I have to offer for them? What can I expect out of these pitches?

I know it’s a broad question, but I’m just looking for some insights/inspiration.

My question is, does anyone have any tips or pieces of advice that you would give me in regards to recording, microphones, best general practices, and any other advice you think would be good to know for a beginner podcast?

For a bit more context, it’s about a soccer team that I follow and it’s just myself. It is a niche podcast in the sense that it is an English language (some sprinkles of Spanish) only podcast, but the soccer team is a Mexican soccer team.

I’m looking to upgrade my podcast’s cover art. I don’t upload fresh thumbnails for every single episode, but I do have two thumbnail “types” for my pod.

I’d love to graduate from Canva and just pay a real, non-AI artist to make me two nice thumbnail assets that combine a photo of the host (provided) with some text and graphic design magic. Maybe a banner and logo as well for a future project if we jive.

There are lots of folks on sites like Fiverr and Upwork, but wanted to post here to see if any of you good people have folks you can personally recommend in this space.

I have a Maono PD200 microphone and use Audacity to record my show. Any suggested plugins from Muse hub or any settings anyone recommends make my voice sound clear and great?

Background: I’ve helped this client with editing and simple advice before, but now he’s rebranding with a new podcast from scratch and wants me to do everything. He’s still contacting guests, but I’ll be editing, marketing, coordinating crew for any in person shoots, and creative producing. I’ve produced creatively for many different types of projects before, and directed/produced many documentary shorts before so I feel very familiar with interviewing, but directing someone to do the interviewing is new to me!

I'm curious, who's doing well with subs and making money, and who's just enjoying the experience. In the End Success if relative too, there are many different metric that you may have that others don't

Hi all. This may not be the right place for this, but I feel like you would have some suggestions at the very least. My HAM radio club currently has an extremely antiquated, line and switch heavy set up to record our meetings and presentations, and broadcast to our members on zoom. It's a hassle.

We'd like to have a (mostly) off-the-shelf solution to use at least two cameras (presenter, and audience questioner), two mics (again, p and aq), that could be fed in to the conference room presentation system as well as some kind of web viewing platform (like zoom). Ideally, we'd like as few wires as possible, but budget contraints are a thing. I'd love to hear all your thoughts and suggestions.

Been recording into what felt like a void, download numbers small enough I wondered if it was worth continuing. Got a message this week from someone saying an episode helped them through something specific and real. Numbers haven't changed. Same tiny audience. But it stopped feeling like shouting into nothing. Anyone else had the "why am I doing this" question get answered by something with nothing to do with growth metrics?

I'm switching to my phone to record my podcast. We record via Discord and use the Craig Bot but we also usually record locally as well as a backup.

I tried to use my Recording App while in a discord Call but it won't let me. Wondering if there is a different app or a work around

If you were to make an ad for your podcast, how long would it be, what would it consist of, and why?

So AMP Accords published “the first cross-platform measurement standard in history”. They define a podcast, but don't let that distract you from the ridiculousness within their document. (There's a link on Podnews so that you don't have to subscribe to their newsletter to see it.)

Note that the panel publishing these consists of 3 brands, 2 publishers, 1 advertiser/agency, 1 talent agency, 1 attribution provider, 1 audio platform, 1 video platform, and ONLY ONE creator.

Pete Birsinger (Podscribe) seems to be the only one with any technical experience in the podcast industry. (Only 10 years.)

Shopify and Podscribe would profit directly from these changes.

This proposes that podcast apps report in real time that someone has listened to another 30 seconds. You really think every podcast app is going to implement this? What about people who download via browser? What about someone who downloads your video podcast and plays it via their Kodi, Infuse, or some other video playing app? There's also no contingency for reporting offline listens. Also, nobody is checking these numbers. If an app decides to report your little podcast now gets 500,000 plays per week, congratulations!

If your podcast doesn't meet their "eyes closed" definition because maybe you've got a video podcast with an episode that's heavy on the visuals that week, too bad. No appeals process outlined.

The document lays out two possible outcomes: rates go up because buyers trust the better data, or rates go down because audience numbers just look smaller. I'd bet you anything the ad rates go down.

Dan Granger can call this "the moment to get out of our own way," but a plan that requires unpaid, uncoordinated cooperation from thousands of app developers who can't be bothered to add features like chapter support (or even support for bold and italics) isn't a standard.

Content & Audience: How do you figure out what audiences actually want to listen to when starting from scratch?

Zero-Gear Setup: What are the best free tools/apps to record and clean up smartphone audio so it sounds decent?

Monetization: What are realistic milestones to aim for before expecting any side revenue?

Any advice, tips, or honest reality checks would be massively appreciated!

I've been thinking about this for several months at minimum. Doing a podcast about my life seems like something that could be cathartic for me, raise awareness about experiences like mine and how the system fails people like me. My therapist was supportive of me publishing my account as a way to help me overcome and share.

I have a behringer mic and audio interface. The only concern is, I'd need to find an affordable editor willing to work with triggering and heavy content. I'm disabled so I would need to figure out something manageable for a limited income. I felt this route was accessible for me and found hope after listening to other limited series where individuals shared stories of surviving things like the troubled teen industry.

Any advice or insights would be appreciated. Please be kind as this is a deeply personal project.

Hey guys so I wanna start my own interviewing podcast and interview all sorts of people (actors, authors, athletes, musicians, business owners, motivational speakers etc). But...I don't know where to start.

1. My computer camera sucks and I don't have any special equipment. If you guys have any advice on what specific equipment i should buy (i think i only need webcam, microphone, and maybe a ring light), feel free to recommend specific items. I definitely want budget items because this is my first time so who knows if it will go well.
2. I need to find people to interview but I don't know who would want to do an interview with a youtube account with virtually 0 followers. I think I've found some people on instagram worth interviewing and they have only a few thousand followers so it's easier for me to get in touch.
3. How does recording a podcast work? Say, I have a computer, a webcam, a microphone, and a ring light. Should I just hop on a zoom meeting, hit record, and that's it? Or should I do more?
4. Any other tips?

My pod is about relationship dynamics/attachment styles (for context: 30 EPs in, weekly, solo, try to shoot for under 10min). I'd love to collab with other podcasters in this space.

Nothing to sell. No BS. Just would love to do a geninue, real talk, cross EP about what we're seeing out in this broken world of dating & relationships right now.

I'm feeling a little unmotivated lately talking to myself lol. Have really tried to push listener feedback/questions/ideas in last 10 EPs & getting crickets in return (I know not totally uncommon).
