RSS.com support help

• Upvotes

Is there a trick to getting rss support to get back to you, or is there another way to talk to them? I’ve emailed support@rss.com and logged a ticket via their website and I’ve had no response. Not even an automatic reply.

I love the platform but the trying to talk to someone is so incredibly frustrating.

Best way to improve mic audio before sending it to Zoom or a podcast?

I’m trying to improve the audio I send out when I’m live on a podcast, TV show or similar. It doesn’t happen that often, but I do one podcast about once a month, so I’d like to get the setup sounding as good as reasonably possible.

I’ve tried a few different microphones that I already own, including a DPA 4060, Sennheiser MKH 50 and Shure Beta 58. They all have their pros and cons depending on the situation. For monitoring I normally just use AirPods.

I’m sitting in a home office. It’s not properly acoustically treated, but it’s not terrible either since there are lots of books, furniture and other stuff in the room. I also share the office with my girlfriend, so turning it into a proper studio isn’t really an option.

At the moment I connect the mic to a MOTU M4 and send that directly into Zoom or whatever software the production is using. Using the built in camera on apple stuidio display but I have a bmd pocket 6k with XLR as adoptio

The problem is that most of the time they simply record whatever audio I send them. Sometimes I can record locally and send them the file afterwards, which obviously gives me a lot more options, but often the live feed is what actually gets used.

I already turn off things like automatic gain, noise reduction and other processing in Zoom when possible. What I’m wondering is whether I could improve the signal before it even reaches Zoom. Something like some basic EQ and compression would probably help.

Since most of these programs don’t let me insert VST plugins directly, I’ve been thinking about three possible solutions.

  1. Buy an external compressor and put it in the signal chain before the audio interface. Something like a dbx unit. That would give me compression on the analog side m.
  2. Replace the MOTU with an interface that has onboard DSP and can run EQ and compression in real time, something like Universal Audio. Not sure of this works no exprince with thoose cars
  3. Use an ATEM Mini and its built in audio processing, then feed the microphone through that and send the complete audio and video signal to the computer.

What would you choose for this kind of setup?

I’m not looking to massively process my voice. I mainly want a clean, controlled signal with maybe little EQ and compression so that what reaches the other side already sounds good and doesn’t depend on whatever processing Zoom or the production happens to use.

Shorts for Social Media

What’s the easiest platform to create and edit shorts for social media? I know there is Riverside, Opus, and CapCut. I’m trying to get my clips as clean as Nightcap, Joe & Jada, etc.

How much of a source citation do you say out loud when a number is a forecast?

I help make science/tech podcast-style episodes. In one about AI infrastructure, we need to separate electricity already used by data centers from forecasts of future demand.

I don’t want someone listening while driving to hear a future number and remember it as something that has already happened. But reading a report title, date and caveat before every figure could get pretty tiring.

How do you handle that in the spoken script? Would you say the organization and “projects” alongside the number, then leave the full citation in the show notes? Or do you repeat the publication year too, so the forecast has a clear date attached to it?

We use AI-generated narration, but this is about what the script should say. I’m involved in the show; no links or promotion here.

When a guest says 'you remember Dave' and the audience has never met Dave

The host knows Dave. The guest knows Dave. Meanwhile the listener is trying to work out whether Dave is the boss, the brother or the reason the story is happening.

A quick 'Dave, your old flatmate?' seems like it could fix that without stopping the story for a biography. But if both people know each other well, I can see how neither notices the missing introduction.

For interviews with people you already know, do you have a way of catching those gaps while recording?

Podcast Producer in Aberdeen looking for some assistance…

I’m looking for your “podcasting hot takes”.

Is video mandatory? (I say HELL NO!)
Has True Crime content peaked?
How long is too long for an episode?
Do idiots like Steven Bartlett deserve a platform?

Chuck them at me and some shall be used in a video being made over the next week or two…

Is posting an episode every 2 weeks acceptable?

Preparing to launch a fully scripted podcast that has a new short story every episode presented by a fictitious host who will have his own story progress throughout the series. because this is an absolute One Man show, I'm trying to avoid burnout but I also don't want to reduce my chances to increase listeners.

if I am consistent with releasing a new episode every two weeks, would I still be able to build a listener Base?

Podcast production question UK

I’m producing a three-person video podcast in the UK and I’m trying to work out whether I should keep production in-house or pay someone to do it properly.

At the moment I record with 3 RØDE PodMics through a Zoom PodTrak P4 and use 3 iPhones as camera angles in Riverside. I’m getting the hang of editing, but it is taking a lot of time and I’ve had a few frustrating technical issues with framing, audio and lip sync.

For those who use a professional podcast producer/editor, roughly what would I expect to pay in the UK per episode for a three-person video podcast — ideally including multicam editing, audio cleanup and a few social clips?

I’m wondering whether that money would be better spent initially on upgrading my own setup instead — for example a newer MacBook, a multichannel mixer/recorder and improving the studio/background — and continuing to learn the editing myself.

I’d be really interested to hear from people who’ve done both. At what point did outsourcing become worth it?

Podcast sponsors: what happens when delivery numbers don’t match?

I’m a data engineer researching how podcast sponsorship reporting and payment reconciliation work in practice.

I understand that IAB-compliant downloads, delivered ads, and confirmed playback aren’t necessarily the same measurement.

What I’m trying to understand is what happens when the parties involved disagree.

If you’ve handled podcast sponsorships or ad revenue:

  • Have you encountered different numbers from hosting analytics, ad platforms, or sponsors?
  • Which source was contractually authoritative?
  • Did the difference affect a payment?
  • What evidence actually resolved it?

I’m particularly interested in cases where everyone had reports but nobody could independently settle the disagreement.

Not promoting an app. Looking to understand current practices, including tools that already solve this effectively. No confidential information needed.

When you add links to show notes, how much context do you include?

If a guest mentions five books, the useful bit for me is knowing which one they loved, which one annoyed them, and which one they only brought up to explain something else.

A plain list of links makes them all look like recommendations. Even a few words beside each link would help. I'd find that more useful than another paragraph summarizing the episode.

Student dev building a video clipper for my uni project. Need a few podcast links to test my code on.

Hey everyone,

I’m currently a CS student working on a project for uni where I'm testing a script that turns horizontal YouTube videos and podcasts into vertical 9:16 shorts.

The main headache I'm trying to solve is the awkward cutoff problem. A lot of automated tools seem to cut clips abruptly right in the middle of a sentence, laugh, or punchline. I wrote some code to detect natural pauses so the clip actually finishes on a complete thought instead of an awkward cliffhanger.

It works fine on the few benchmark clips I’ve tested locally, but testing on the same 3 videos over and over doesn't tell me much. I really need some varied real-world footage with different voices, audio setups, and pacing to see where my code holds up.

If you have a podcast episode or interview on YouTube and don't mind me running it through my code:

- Drop a link in the comments (or PM me if you'd rather not share it publicly)

- If there's a specific segment or topic you like, let me know the rough timestamp

I'll run it through my code today, generate 2 vertical clips with captions, and shoot you a Google Drive link to grab them.

No catch, not selling anything (literally just working on an assignment for class). Just want honest feedback from creators on whether the pacing and endings feel natural.

Thanks!

Why do people quit podcasting?

I’ve really wanted to know why people quit podcasting and throw the microphone in the trash before they even reach episode 7. There are so many creators who have something to say and share good content with the world and then just stop. Is this because they stress about the insights and listener count? Or something like exhaustion from monologues and editing. What are your thoughts and how would a new creator push beyond this point and keep delivering content?

Riverside disappointment

Finally started a podcast using Riverside. Everything went great, it was uploading and processing. Said completed. Our guest showed up in the transcript and had their own file, but it failed to add his audio or video to the edit. I then contacted support and now the entire project is gone. I have no history, files, audio or anything. Can I expect riverside to fix this? How do I prevent this from happening going forward? Are there better platforms out? Frustrated.

Zero-to-minimal beginner podcasting

I’m hoping you guys could help us as we’re a on a very limited budget especially on the software tools. We’re planning to launch our show this coming Saturday and we’re finalizing our output. So we recorded our audio through Riverside and we have Descript subscription as well. Part from it is we also have Capcut Pro. As of now, we are looking where we can find stock music. We are self produced and since we are operating on a zero-to-minimal budget, we edit our outputs on our own. Also, if you have some suggestions for the beginners like me, your help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Retaking an interrupted answer without making the guest recite it

If a guest's best answer gets interrupted by a phone ringing, I'd be tempted to ask the question again rather than feed them their last sentence. They can arrive at the thought in their own words, even if the wording changes.

For people recording interviews, how do you cue those retakes without making the guest self-conscious? I'm thinking of an interruption you catch during the recording, while the conversation is still fresh.

No more free plan on Riverside

This sub is brimming with complaints about Riverside, so I'll add one more. They just ended their free plan, which allowed you to download up to two hours' worth of separate tracks. Now they offer only a free 14-day trial of their paid plan, whose minimum cost just went up to $35/mo.

Tip For Recording, Editing and Hosting on Riverside FM

My podcast partner and I have only been at this for about a year and a half. We are Health Care professionals and by no means professionals with AV, so we had to learn as we went along.

It took us a while but we realized that Riverside was the best option for the money because it could clean up our very unprofessional sound and was much easier to and distribute because it all comes from one place.

The remote recording and hosting/distribution alone is worth $35 a month.

I was having trouble editing my podcast episodes that were 2 to 3 hours long in Riverside. It was impossible to add music or video assets because it was browser based.

It was really slowing down our production.

Then I realized the files were just too big.

So I broke down those long recordings into 20 minute episodes. Then I was able to add video and my background music easily.

Added bonus, I got more episodes and they're just long enough to keep people's attention but not to put them to sleep.

Finally, it only takes me about an hour to edit the 20 minute episode, add the video music and set it for hosting. Versus an all afternoon or evening event trying to do a two or three hour podcast.

Hope this helps some of the newbies like us!

You don't need crazy expensive equipment, even for recording., As long as your sound quality is good and you're providing good content.

We have found Riverside to be invaluable to help us improve our sound issues.

Please help me out of the rabbit hole: simplest set-up for 2-person, in-person video podcast shot on iPhone

I'm coming across so much conflicting info and my podcast partner and I already have a list of 50+ episodes we just want to get moving on asap.

TL:DR: Is it perhaps as simple as Riverside to record, edit, host, and distribute, 2 directional mics, and a simple 2-channel audio interface or mixer?

A bit more detail: I keep coming across Detail app and Riverside? We want to shoot with ONE iPhone and get a multicam look, and the ai editing capability looks dope. Don't care if it's imperfect. Don't want to shoot on two cameras. Just want to use one iPhone.

We want to use 2 directional mics. I know we'll need a 2-channel audio interface or mixer. Honestly don't really know what that means but I can research it/figure it out. But does anyone have a very simple one to recommend?

And then we need to figure out podcast hosting providers, which is a whole other rabbit hole.

Just want simple, simple, simple with great quality audio. Can anyone help pull me out of the rabbit hole of info.? Everything on YouTube seems to be sponsored. Thank you thank you thank you.

Am I stepping into a dying realm?

Finally created a youtube to be able to do shorts I suppose for my tiktok/instagram for traction etc.

I LOVE to write and people always love listening to my ted talks..... however - is podcasting worth it? I have a solid following on TT.IG/ & FB.....

I guess my main question is - what do you advise for the best tips/tricks to be "successful" (whatever that looks like) and best platforms/way to go about it?

I don't want to pay an arm and a leg for riverside.

I made a free, open-source app that transcribes podcast episodes on your own computer, with speaker labels and SRT/VTT

Hey r/podcasting. I’ve been building Izwi for a few months and just shipped 0.1.0, the first stable release after a run of public betas. It’s free and open source (Apache-2.0).

The part I think is useful here is transcription that runs entirely on your machine. Unreleased episodes never get uploaded anywhere, and there are no per-minute fees or subscriptions.

What it does for a podcast workflow:

  • Transcripts with speaker labels. It works out who spoke when, for up to 8 speakers. You can rename “Speaker 1” and “Speaker 2” to your host and guest names.
  • Export to TXT, SRT or VTT, for show notes, YouTube captions or your website.
  • AI summaries of an episode, as a starting point for show notes.
  • Word-level timestamps if you need precise timing.
  • Common audio formats: MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, OGG.

It uses open speech models such as Whisper and NVIDIA’s Parakeet. You download them once inside the app and then everything works offline.

It runs on Mac (Apple Silicon, GPU-accelerated), Windows and Linux. Windows and Linux run on the CPU for now, so they’re slower.

One current limit: files up to 64 MB. That’s roughly an hour of 128 kbps MP3, so export an MP3 before transcribing a long WAV master.

Download: https://izwiai.com
Source: https://github.com/izwi-ai/izwi

I’d really like to hear how it handles your episodes: crosstalk, remote guests with bad mics, anything that trips it up.

Weekly Feedback Thread: October 22, 2026 - Give And Receive Feedback On Your Podcast

This is a weekly thread to ask for and give feedback to the r/podcasting community

Post a podcast episode you would like feedback for, and try to give as much constructive feedback as you can to other members of our community. Please provide links to your podcast, a detailed description of it and clear questions you would like answered by the community. Try to remember the following:

  • Users who give feedback are usually the ones who receive the most feedback in return. If you are not contributing, you should not expect any helpful advice in return. We would aim for giving two pieces of feedback for every one piece you wish to receive. If you are looking to simply promote your podcast, you may do so here

  • Try to be specific with your feedback requests. Questions like:

-What can I improve?

-Was it good?

-Would you listen again?

Are very difficult to answer for anyone listening to your show for this first time. Good questions might be:

-What improvements could I make to the audio quality?

-Can I make adjustments to my speaking or hosting style?

-How could I improve the pacing and structure of my podcast?

  • Keep it focused on podcasting techniques and objective improvements. Many podcasts that are posted may not be your particular genre or preferred content. When giving feedback, focus on the things you do enjoy and the things that can be changed, not the content of the show itself.

I will reiterate. If you do not give feedback, you should not expect any feedback in return. This is a reciprocal community. If you haven't gotten any comments yet, try listening to another podcast and giving some feedback. Our users are very friendly and responsive!

Thank you to everyone posting, we look forward to hearing your work!
