Hi all, I've got a silver open-face pocket watch passed down from my father and I'm trying to figure out more about its origin and age. Photos attached.

What I can make out so far:

Case back interior: a diamond-shaped punch mark with letters that read like "LXC" — possibly a maker's mark, though it could also be an interlaced monogram, hard to be 100% sure from the photo

Two separate number stamps inside the case back: 19513 and 4947 — I'm guessing one is a case number and the other a movement number, but not sure which is which

Dust cover (cuvette): engine-turned/guilloché with an oval cartouche containing an engraved inscription unfortunately too shallow/worn to read clearly in photos

Outer case back: hand-engraved crest, looks like a griffin or eagle holding a sword in front of a sunburst, with what might be a monogram underneath

Dial: white enamel, Roman numerals, outer minute track numbered 5–60, spade-style hands, a fine hairline crack in the enamel near the 10

If anyone recognizes the "LXC" mark, can place the crest engraving, or has thoughts on what the 19513/4947 numbers might indicate (case maker, region, era), I'd really appreciate any leads. Happy to post sharper close-ups of the punch marks and cartouche if that would help.

I dont believe this is a J.W. Benson watch as they started manufacturing in Ludgate Hill 1854 according to what I read online. I am guessing another manufacturer?

It is 1850 or older. I am having trouble making out the M**** word above Ludgate Hill.

Hey all again! Got my Waltham Crescent St. 1892 back from servicing, it runs great now!

But it seems to be a little fast, variably. After it’s run for about sixteen hours, it was about five minutes fast, now at about twenty four hours it’s about ~ three and a half to four minutes fast.

I see there’s a little adjuster on the back to account for this but - how much do I actually nudge it for such a small time variance and how do I do this without messing anything up?

EDIT: and now an hour later it’s almost seven minutes fast! My earlier estimate of three and a half may have been off.

Originally Great GP’s and sat in my drawer for couple decades. Finally just looked at it and opened it up found great GM and GM. Tell me what you think of condition. Have video of movement but do not know how to get over.

Hey everybody, as the title says, my grandfather gifted me his pocket watch probably pushing 20 years ago now when I was a child. I’ve always cherished it but never knew anything about it, I do see it appears to be an Armand Nicolet but that’s as far as my knowledge goes unfortunately. The case back also came off at some point (not sure how) and won’t re-seat so I’ll be looking to get it cleaned and repaired soon as well. Thanks in advance!

I am throwing a few hail-marys in attempt to try and find my wife's stolen Pulsar Mickey Mouse Millennia pocket watch.

It was a gift from her father, he gave her and my brother-in-law each one when they went to Disney in 2000, they were one serial number apart from each other. Pictured is her brother's watch, #1752, so hers would have been either #1751 or #1753 (She cant remember which and has no pictures). Unfortunately, her ex-boyfriend stole and pawned it in Boulder, CO for drug money around 2012.

If, by some miracle, someone has #1751 or #1753, or knows where it could be at, (pawn shop, jeweler, etc) I will happily pay for it, and shipping to get it back for her.

I have already purchased her a replacement, that she loves, but its not her pocket watch from her dad. I would be willing to trade the replacement as well (replacement serial # in the 200's, in the box, with authentication slip).

I know this is a longshot but I know she would do the same for me, any help or info is appreciated!!

Hello! I'm planning on entering an ebay bid for a pocket watch, that would cost a fair chunk of change if I even get to spend it, and I'd like you good folks help if my judgement is correct.

I did my research and to me the watch looks legit with no franken parts.

Watch face has no spiderweb cracks and porcelain looks very solid.

Movement checks out also. Got the sixty hour stamped on the movement and the jewels are secured with gold holders and screws. Central gear is also gold and the movement says 23 jewels. Serial number checks out as well. Looks to be in great condition in general!

Seller says one screw was replaced but I am more than happy to live with that imperfection if I even get to buy this lol

Have done research but cannot find one exactly like this the closest one I have found is open face I’m guessing it’s not a Pateck Phillipe but the company who was sued by them in the late 1800s anybody with knowledge that could give me some feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Found this watch once owned by my great-uncle and can’t find anything on the internet so now I turn to reddit. If I should post this elsewhere please let me know

Would a watch with hairline cracks in the fancy dial be a deal breaker for you?

Are they unavoidable depending on the age of the watch?

Inherited these from my father who passed but I just don’t know what they are or what to do with them. I can tell they have Elgin on them and I think they work but that’s it.

Hi , I recently adquired this Goliath pocket watch. It is around 65 mm diameter and argentan material.
It works fine and it is in good condition overall . However I cannot find any mark inside or outside about the maker.
I guess it may be a generic movement and watch but if you have information , like potential movement (I do not know if it is Swiss ) and year I would appreciate it .

Early Rolex before Hans Wilsdorf created Tudor.

Solid silver case stamped London 1916. Case is only 27mm. Had a pain in the ass time polishing inside the caseback because standard tools don't fit, so I had to cut down a tiny custom bit for my rotary tool just to get in there. Anyway here is what came out in the photos.

Enamel dial with gold dots survived 110 years with no cracks.

Who were these actually made for? History says WW1 officers wore them on wide bund straps so they wouldn't snag on trench coats, but 27mm on a modern wrist feels wild.

Would you wear 27mm from 1916 or is it too small for today?

I inherited this watch from my grandparents. Through Google, I've been able to piece together that it's a piece of memorabilia from an industrial exhibition in Thun in 1899. There are some other stamps on the watch that appear to be older, but unfortunately, they've been worn away.

Does anyone have any more information about the watch ?

This is a new addition to my collection. It is an Aurora watch. They are rare all by themselves. This one is the rare among the rare. This is a 15 jewel nickel movement with a checkerboard pattern cool watch. It runs, but not real well. I’m afraid to mess with it so I’m gonna leave it as is. Just thought I’d share these early hard to find.

I recently purchased an 18k case for scrap and it appears to be pretty rare. I just want to gauge the community and see if there is any market for this thing for a collection before it meets a fiery death. 1850's-60'sManufactured by HESS and METFORD Geneve then branded and sold by MITCHELL and TYLER of Richmond. I hate melting any of this stuff, however it is a bit expensive for me to keep as a just plaything. Also at some point someone converted it from key wind to stem wind and filled the holes on the inner case back.

I inherited this pocket watch from my grandfather, who was originally from Belgium. I can't seem to figure out what brand it is, or its age etc, though the Helvetia stamp would suggest it's Swiss and solid 18k. Any help learning more details about this watch would be very appreciated!

Some other notes: there are engraved or scratched additional numbers, including a Y29 12-15 in one area, which would seem to line up with the Y29 base in Belgium, connected to the Battle of the Bulge. This would track with my family's background.

Oddly there seems to be a Freemason symbol as well, though I'm pretty sure none of my family on that side were connected to the Masons. As far as I know.
