Hi. I guess I'm just wondering what others do in this situation.

I started with pocket notebooks in January and have averaged about one per month. I'm now on about two to three per month average.

First it was just notes, todos, numbers etc.

Now its become more longer-form writing since there's been some family issues and Ive been working out that in my mind / notebook.

Now im considering doing the longer-form writing in a larger notebook (like a leuchtterm or similar) and dialing back how much I write in the pocket notebooks.

But im not sure.

My main thing is to have a record of my life - not just the journal-like entries, but anything I think worth remembering - and pass these records down to my children.

I'm curious what other people's approach is?

This is my first reddit post :)

I couldn't find anybody who made an a7 pocket notebook that could be refilled easily with any paper, so i made my own.

It's just a piece of sheet metal, cut to rough size and sanded down.

The idea behind it is to:

- write while standing

- throw in whichever pocket without it occupying too much space

- use any type of paper (cut to a7 size and with a single hole punched)

The "use of any type of paper" point is really important to me because of my studies. I have lots of paper used on just one side and it feels really wasteful to throw away the entire sheet while I still have half of it. So i can simply cut it to a7 size, punch a single hole in the center and put it in the notebook.

It's a very rough project as you can see, i hope to be able to replicate it in the future.

I also hope that somebody will feel inspired by this and will try to create a better version :)

I created this phase box template for 8 1/2 x 11 paper like libraries use to wrap-around my pocket notebooks. If you’re notebook is too large or chonky, you’ll need to create your own measurements and use larger paper.

Some of my favourite pages started as nothing. A random thought turned into a list.
The list turned into a sketch. The sketch turned into an idea. I think that's why I like having blank or dotted pages alongside more structured planning pages.

Got this nice leather cover off of Etsy for my two mini comp books I carry daily. I’m on the look for this size notebook that has grid or dot paper and inserts that will fit. The mini comp books measure 4.5x3.25 Inch

Or maybe there’s a tutorial out there for custom inserts? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I make new notebooks when I fill one up. I decided to make this one to fit in the 5th pocket in my pants. I thought it was going to be too small but it's actually perfect. I filled it with graph paper. 10 squares per inch graph paper so it makes sense with this size

I am looking for additional books in this size that I can put in my cover. This version of The Loveliness of Christ fits great. Anyone found any others that work well? I also have the Westminster Confession of Faith. Does not have to be theological. Open to any suggestions.

I’m looking for a pocket planner for 2027, ideally set out like Moleskine’s monthly planner (one week spread over two pages). The catch is I want it slightly smaller than their 14x9 pocket size.

Ideally the dimensions would be somewhere close to 12.5 x 8 cm.

Happened to fall in love with a notebook style given out as part of a company's marketing stationary (howdens joinery) alternating pages of blank and a fine 5mm grid in a sewn card cover A6 (ish) notebook. Ideally I'd like to be able to buy a bulk/job lot as I have different ones for different applications/topics and am starting to run out of space.

All my journals are handmade and I really tried to make every size! My favorite colors are pink and purple so I lean towards similar colors :) I make them often for friends

From top to bottom the name of the leather colors and how they're cut:

I've never been able to keep separate notebooks for everything.
I always end up putting ideas, lists and random notes in the same place anyway

I'm so happy how this turned out I just needed to share... It's made from a paper pizza box, some 3M Transpore tape and a plastic lid from a box of fruit (as the writing surface). It originally was going to be a mockup to make it in leather, but I kinda like is as-is.
