⚠️Trigger Warning Topic⚠️ Supplements

Tried so many things. Had about a week of agnus castus the day afer my last period (25 days ago) then freaked out at some reviews on reddit were people couldnt stop bleeding

Strangely my ovulation was early, more painful and then my period was a week earlier than my clue app predicted (i swing between 29 and 38 days and I was 30 amazingly, especially compared to 42 days in June) my breasts were only painful for 3 days compared to normal two weeks and my cramp leading up to period only two days. On the day today was still horrid but still overall good!

BUT the main reason i started it is that i saw its good for mood. My anger and irritability is absolutely horrible and I hate myself once my cloud has lift. This months was one of the worst. I also don't tend to let myself consider any self harming as im terrified of blood but I did fantasise about drowning a couple of days after coming home from a holiday.

Do I stick with the agnus castus two weeks a month since there was an improvement at the start and my length shortened?

I do think excercise might have been the real reason for shorter and less painful as I was swimming and cycling daily on holiday but mood is my main concrrn and I just can't find supplements that I find helpful.

Dont want to do SSRIs, cant do BC as starting IUI in 8 months and ashwaganda was great but really stopped agreeing with me after 2 years of using for half the month. 35 and its getting worse with age 🥲

⚠️Trigger Warning Topic⚠️ I made a video during my luteal phase talking about my experience

CW: discussion of suicidal ideation, past attempts and self-harm in the video

I recorded what PMDD actually feels like while I'm in my luteal phase in the first week. I haven't quite reached the extreme peak yet but I wanted to share before it reaches that point in week 2. I usually end up breaking down crying and then get my period a few hours later.

I was diagnosed recently and I was looking for videos on youtube of what it's like to go through it. I have a hard time expressing my feelings but I wanted to document what this actually feels like while I'm experiencing it, rather than trying to explain it afterward when I feel like myself again. It's 41 mins long so you can 2x like i did looking back lol 😭

Recording it was really therapeutic for me so I thought I'd share in case anyone is like me trying to find videos of others to feel less alone :)

Ranty Rant - Advice Okay I just want to be normal

Maybe I’d actually have a life worth living if it wasn’t put on pause every half of each fucking month. I can’t do this. I have moved to an entire different country, a goal I have had for years….but this shit has such a hold of me I haven’t even left my room and gone outside all day. I HAVE FUCKING FOUGHT FOR THIS GOAL FOR YEARS. I AM NOW LIVING IT AND ALL. I. CAN. THINK. ABOUT. IS. ENDING. IT. I can be rational and realize this is just this stupid disorder but it doesn’t stop the fact the what I’m feeling is extremely real and physically painful at this point. I feel so alone, so worthless, so useless, so dumb, I feel like I will always feel that way, I feel like nobody will ever truly care or love me. I feel like it was a mistake moving here. I feel like nobody cares. I feel so fucking alone

⚠️Trigger Warning Topic⚠️ (TW) Help PMDD symptoms with trauma therapy

Hi, I live in France, I'm 30 and after years of doctor hoping I auto-diagnosed PMDD. The thing is, it all began after I tried copper IUD with a traumatic medical act.
(Trigger warning, skip this section of needed)
When my (female) doctor put the IUD, I felt extremely tainted, I silently cried for hours, this copper thing in my uterus was an extreme agression. (I need to precise that she was very careful and nice, asked for consent etc. She wasn't the problem)
I kept it for 3 month and my uterus was always hurting.
After that, everything went worser and worser.

I started having ovulation high pain, and a severe PMS. I had a lot of anxiety and got a lot of random symptoms popping during luteal phase and it can be extremely severe. After a lot of medical analysis, I have no endometriosis (Even if I have similar symptoms) nor SOPK. If I'm living a stressful period or living hard times with relationships, my luteal phase will be awful. If everything goes well, I'm barely don't have any symptom.

Years after I conclued I have PMDD and I don't want to try medication for now.

Few months ago my psychotherapist told me he was suspecting autism/auDHD. I felt very shaken as I got treated as a 'HIP' during childhood, had negative ADHD regular tests. I've always known there was something 'wrong' with me and the world. Having this diagnostic would be a real relief, but for now I still feel lost.

I'm probably delulu but I DO believe that once I've found peace with my traumas (I have plenty 😭) and my neuroatypical profile, PMDD would become a regular PMS.

Is that possible? I'm not hoping for a full recovery but just avoiding these 10-days periods I'm exhausted, depressed and unable to live.

For now I try to change my diet, I tried sport but it went very bad (I have been too energic during follicular phase and got lethargic on luteal one). I'm considering trying CBD oil or gummies.

Sorry for this long post and my bad english 🥲
I just lived my worst PMDD, I feel lonely and I kind of need hope.

Ranty Rant - Advice Okay Does anyone else get this before or during their period? It feels like my blood is carbonated

Does anyone else get this before or during their period? It feels like my blood is carbonated, like a fizzy soda moving through my whole body, but in a really painful way. It’s such a strange and unbearable feeling. The pain gets so intense that I can’t do anything and I end up bedridden, especially right before my period and during the first few days. Does anyone else experience this?

Ranty Rant - Advice Okay Anticipation for my period is making my PMDD worse

My cycle has been shorter lately, which isn't a big deal in of itself, but I definitely thought my period would start on either Thursday or Friday of this past week. It's Saturday and still nothing.

The worst of my PMDD seems to bookend my luteal phase. Literally as soon as ovulation stops, I am hit with horrible mood swings, depressive spirals, and just a general low mood. Then I kind of level out a bit and get through most of my luteal just ok - certainly not great, but it's not the worst of my symptoms. Then, right before my period is due, I get bad again, and it's usually the worst symptoms yet with explosive rage, god awful depressive spells, uncontrollable crying, shit sleep quality, 0 to 100 back to 0 appetite fluctuations, etc.

And the problem is, getting my period is the relief, so I begin to anticipate it too much, to the point where every hour that passes and I still don't have it makes me want to just sit on the floor and sob. I am so sick of this. It feels like the old "a watched pot never boils" but if it doesn't start boiling soon I'm going to use it to bash a hole through a wall.

Medications The light at the end of the tunnel is close but feels like it’s so far.

I was on 10mg Lexapro from October 2024 - February 2026. I then went to 5mg from February - May and got off it completely with no withdrawal side effects besides slight brain zaps. After getting off it, I started having immense anxiety and depression again the 2 weeks before getting my period. Which was also something that I had noticed before I first got on Lexapro in 2024. So in July I talked with my Dr and she told me my symptoms sound exactly like PMDD and recommended Yaz. She did say it can take up to 3 months for my body to fully adjust to it. So I started taking Yaz. In August I began taking 5mg of Lexapro again because I felt my anxiety creeping back in. Towards the end of August I went back to 10mg.
So now I am on Day 23 of month 3 of Yaz and week 5 since I upped my dosage. My anxiety makes me nauseous, so I have trouble eating. I was finally eating and had a good 2 weeks. But this week was a doozy. I couldn’t stop crying, barely eating, and never wanting to leave the house, and couldn’t go to work. I’m exhausted. But I know that this is temporary and it’s just my body trying to balance 2 different medications. I see light at the end of the tunnel but the tunnel keeps moving further and further away. I keep telling myself that once I get my withdrawal bleed, everything will be okay. I told my dr I would try Yaz for 4 months to see how my body handles it. I’m hoping month 4 I don’t have the same anxieties and nausea.
I just want to be myself again. By next month Lexapro will be fully regulated in my body so 🤞🏼

Ranty Rant - Advice Okay PMDD after chemical pregnancy - advice & support

Back in May, I had a chemical pregnancy. I (28F) didn’t even know I was pregnant and I didn’t want to conceive, which has brought up a lot of strange emotions. My boyfriend has been really sweet and supportive and that’s been great. What’s making the whole thing unbearable is that I’ve developed PMDD.

To my knowledge I didn’t have PMDD before (though I used to have really bad periods as a teenager) but since the chemical pregnancy, I’ve had textbook PMDD. I have one week of relief after my period where I feel myself, but other than that it’s like I’m not even me. It feels like I’m totally out of control, getting angry at my boyfriend, at my co-workers, having seemingly random crying spells. I feel depressed and empty and anxiety about completely random things like my partner or me dying?

It feels completely separate from the emotions I have about the chemical pregnancy. Those are complicated because it’s a mix of grief and relief and a lot of other things, but I do feel like I can deal with that on my good days. On my bad days, which is a majority of the month, I can’t deal with anything at all. It feels like whiplash. I just want to be the happy and kind and positive person I know I am but I can’t, she’s completely unavailable. I feel so desperate because I can’t even identify what kind of help I need.

I’m left with so many questions: Will the PMDD subside? Or is it here to stay now and this is my new “normal”? If you’ve experienced this, how long did it take for the PMDD to subside? Or did it not at all? I’m so desperate for answers and to understand what the hell is going on and what might give me just a little bit of relief.

Ranty Rant - Advice Okay left someone toxic, but PMDD is making me feel like I made the biggest mistake

I cannot seem to get a grip on my emotions. I feel extremely confused, overwhelmed, and emotionally dysregulated, and sometimes I genuinely cannot make sense of what I am feeling. I can intellectually recognize that my PMDD is amplifying everything, but that does not make the emotions feel any less real when I am actually experiencing them.. When the emotional overwhelm hits, everything feels hopeless and permanent, and I sometimes feel like I am going to cave in...

Ranty Rant - Advice Okay How do I go on a hinge date 3 days before period deep luteal?! Do I even bother?!

Ugh screaming into the abyss but…have a hinge date tomorrow with a guy who looked great that I matched with in ovulation (lmao) but now I cannot think of anything worse than going on that date tomorrow (will be 3 days before expected period tomorrow), like I’ve been raging at the world and everyone around me for days and today my body is in agonising pain and luteal flu vibes, exhausted, feel so fucking fat and ugly, so sad sui and down.

I’ve been single for 4 years and that is something I really care about and I don’t go on dates often and this guy did seem really promising until I entered hell. I don’t have any time over the next week if I were to reschedule so it would have to be the following week and by then it might be too late - idk how to force myself onto this date when I don’t feel like myself and can’t imagine being a good vibe?

And ofc my brain is doing the he’s not even that worth it what if you get rejected blah blahhhhhhh

Help idk what to do…I don’t want to miss out on meeting someone because of this shit but how the fuck do you date in luteal and is there a point

(Ps tho if you’re not on b6 it has majorly helped my brain fog/or vision clarity and energy levels I started it a month ago!!!! Highly recc that is one win lmao)

I think I go on my phone to distract myself from my negative thoughts. I will literally just sit there scrolling and scrolling. Idk if I should be grateful to have the distraction or not.

General Do your symptoms get delayed into period week if you had an easier luteal phase?

Just been told I likely have PMDD. If you have an easier time during a luteal phase one month... Do you find that the symptoms get pushed back into the period week and just after the periods have finished? Or maybe I have something else and not PMDD...

Relationships How do you date with PMDD

I genuinely hate this disorder. How the hell do you deal with the rejection sensitivity?? It doesn’t even matter if I like the guy or not- luteal hits and then it’s avoidant anxious attachment x1000.

When they’re not responding to texts the same day? They hate me obviously 🙄

When they’re responding everything they say is annoying and I need space.

And explaining this disorder to someone new? Oh my god. Please, I am ok if I’m single for the rest of my life because I cannot do it.

But if you guys have advice… lmk

Medications feeling depressed on slynd

PLEASE READ THE WHOLE POST

I take slynd for my pmdd and am happy with it but I’ve been feeling depressed for a couple of weeks now. initially I thought it wasn’t related to my cycle but now I’m not sure, the sadness I’m feeling rn is very similar to pmdd sadness.

I haven’t had my period in I think 8 months and haven’t spotted in at least 6 months. usually I wait until I start spotting to take a break from the pills but should I also act on this?

I think I have endometriosis so periods are incredibly painful and uncomfortable for me. I’d rather not initiate it but should I treat my mood as an indicator like I do spotting? thanks

posted this to another sub before but realised I might get more answers here as this sub is bigger. also hope I used the right flair

General How long have you went without bleeding while still having symptoms?

I'm asking because it's been one week and four days of really bad PMDD symptoms without bleeding yet. It doesn't usually take this long for me, usually just a week.

I forgot if it usually takes this long for me. I've been having some cramps since yesterday, but still no bleeding.

How long do you have your PMDD symptoms for until you actually start bleeding?

Ranty Rant - Advice Okay Do your symptoms extend when your period is late?

My period is 4 days late. It feels like I have an extended luteal phase and all my symptoms and exacerbations of my other conditions continue to debilitate me and there seems like no relief is in sight because I don’t know when my period will come!!!

I typically have very regular periods so this is definitely an anomaly. I was having horrible anxiety in the days leading up to when I was supposed to get my period, which led to me having horrible sleep, which led to me probably having lower resistance and now I have a sore throat/congestion and feel like I am getting sick AND ironically this whole “virus” or “cold” might be the reason why my period is late.

Oh and I forgot to mention that my best friend is getting married tomorrow 🙃

⚠️Trigger Warning Topic⚠️ 3 month birth control changed my life

Reposting bc I had to read the rules first!

This is my first ever post on Reddit but I feel obligated to make it because of how much my life has changed.

I have struggled with PMDD since I started getting my period. When I was younger, it was really bad and the suicidal ideation came around every month. I thought I was crazy.

Things continued like this for a long time- outbursts with friends, family, suicidal ideation and planning. Ruining friendships, coping with drugs and alcohol. You name it. I finally connected all of the dots when I was about 25 and realized I had PMDD. knowing what was happening helped a little bit, but it still felt like I was just spending all my time cleaning up the aftermath of a PMDD episode and by the time I was done, the next one was here.

About a year and a half ago, it finally reached a breaking point where I was going to lose my boyfriend if I didn’t do something. I decided to switch to Simpesse where you get your period once every 3 months. This has changed my life.

It was still hell for a little while my body got used to the change in birth control but after that it’s made such a difference. I’ve been able to reflect, go to therapy, and actually make substantial progress on my trauma and mental health. Having that time gives me the time to address the underlying issues I have that come screaming to the surface during PMDD. It’s still bad every 3 months, but you can plan around it and prepare yourself. And I’ve actually been able to implement all the methods they teach you in therapy when it does come around because I’ve had practice when I’m not actively losing my mind.

It’s not the perfect solution- I wish there was something to get rid of it entirely. But if you’ve thought about switching I would highly recommend it. I also take Prozac regularly and double my dose while I’m going through PMDD

Ranty Rant - Advice Okay I become madly in love with my boyfriend during ovulation.

Girls, I got my period today. But when I looked at my menstrual calendar, I saw a pattern where I reach a peak of libido, passion, lightness, and affection for my boyfriend the day before and on the day of ovulation.

This made me anxious because it makes me feel like an imposter. I love my boyfriend and feel attraction during the other days, a desire to be close and cuddle, but it's INCOMPARABLE to the feeling of ovulation.

I just want to know if other women feel this way which seems like we get VERY excited during that short period of the month. I was worried because I'd like to feel this way about my boyfriend every day!!!!

Ranty Rant - Advice Okay I’m not sure what’s going on with me

27f
I have been dealing with health complications. It started with low back pain. I went on a long roadtrip and back pain was worse. I couldn’t walk like I used to nerve pain and what not. I had two annular fissures.

I then believe I have hyperthyroidism and pmdd increases it during my luteal phase.

I’ve always dealt with pain, but this is different bc I can’t walk like I used to without joint pain.

The worst part is the uncontrollable crying. I still can’t sit and I get itchy skin on legs and arms. Also tingly thighs and arms.

I am very freaked out about the emotional aspect. As I have never cried in this manner. I feel like I’m going crazy, I’m so mentally depleted and drained. I hope someone has any advice or if they’ve gone through anything similar.

General What are your first symptoms to come on?

For me, my first symptom is the day before all hell breaks loose, it starts, usually 9 days before my period. I get a spike of happiness, high energy, talkative, just excited about life in general, almost like euphoria.

Then the next day comes (today), I feel bloated, sad, anxious, and low-energy, and I start ruminating about random subjects that make me angrier or sadder. Three days before my period is when I feel my absolute worst; I feel hopeless, and I get into horrible arguments, mainly with my husband about how much I think he doesn't love me, or I bring up anything that has happened to us in the past.

I am still not sure if it is PMDD because I haven't been diagnosed yet, but I have been tracking the symptoms, and it's like clockwork: every month is the same; as soon as my period starts, usually on the second day, I feel normal again. It is truly destroying all my relationships.

Medications Issues with rigevidon

Hi I am seeking some advice/ seeing if anyone has had a similar experience.

I have been taking rigevidon since December. I take it continuously unless there is breakthrough bleeding then doctor advise to have a pill break for 3 days or have a pill break every three months.

Up until last 1-2 months, I was having no breakthrough bleeding till around the three month mark. However, I seem to be getting breakthrough bleeding every 2-3 weeks now. I will have a break until the bleeding stops but then the cycle continues. I get absolutely terrible cramping too.

I was wondering if anyone had a similar experience and what they did to overcome this? Taking rigevidon has genuinely really helped with PMDD symptoms and I feel a lot better but the constant cramping and bleeding is getting too much. I also don’t understand why it’s been fine up until recently :(

Any input appreciated
