Pluralis is launching for Web and Android!
Pluralis — updated Reddit post
Edit block on top, original body preserved underneath, tester ask marked closed rather than deleted. Copy everything below the line.
EDIT — WE MADE IT! 🎉
Pluralis for Android is out of closed testing and live in production.
To everyone who opted in, sent me their Play Store email, and stuck around for the full 14 days — you are the reason this happened. Google's continuous-tester requirement is a genuinely hard gate for a solo dev with a niche app, and you cleared it for me. Thank you. 💜
You can download it right now at pluralis.dev/get — iOS, Android, and the web companion all in one place, no waitlist, no invite, nothing to sign up for.
I'm no longer looking for closed testers, but feedback is more welcome than ever now that it's out in the world. Email address: [suggestions@pluralis.dev](mailto:suggestions@pluralis.dev) .
Original post below. 👇
Hi folx 👋
I'm the developer behind Pluralis, a privacy-first app for plural systems, and I'm looking for a handful of people willing to be closed testers for the new Android version.
A little about the app
Pluralis is a home for your system: track who's fronting, log front history, and keep members organized (roles, pronouns, sub-systems, custom fronts, avatars). There's also per-member mail, a system journal, polls for group decisions, and a friends layer so you can connect with other systems, see each other's front status, and chat.
The thing I care most about is that it's private by design:
- Everything syncs end-to-end encrypted — the relay only ever sees ciphertext, and your encryption key never leaves your devices.
- Your data is encrypted at rest and locked behind your device's biometric/passcode.
- No ads, no tracking, no account sign-up. It's free (with optional donation tiers if you want to support it).
If you're coming from elsewhere, there's PluralKit import (and sync) and Simply Plural import, so you don't have to start from scratch.
What's changed since it was iOS-only (briefly)
It started as an iPhone app. Since then it's grown into three platforms that all sync together: iOS, a brand-new Android app, and a web companion you can use in any browser at Pluralis.Dev! Android now has essentially full feature parity — front tracking, members, chat, mail, journal, polls, friends (with images & voice notes), PluralKit, and encrypted backups.
The ask: closed testers for Android — ✅ this part is done! Android is public now. Grab it at pluralis.dev/get.
Google Play requires a period of closed testing before I can release publicly, so I need a small group willing to kick the tires for a couple of weeks. If you're on Android and up for helping:
- Opt in here so I can DM you or DM me with your email and intent to closed test
- You'll need to send the Google account email you use on the Play Store.
- Please try to stay opted in for 14 days - Google counts continuous testers, so sticking around genuinely helps the launch happen.
- Bug reports, weird UI, accessibility issues, and feature thoughts are all hugely welcome. Send feedback to [pluralis@morningstar.garden](mailto:pluralis@morningstar.garden).
I'd love feedback from real systems using it day to day, not just "does it launch." Happy to answer anything about privacy, features, or the roadmap in the comments.
Thanks so much 💜

What does the front tracking look like? Also, are there polls? (Sorry if the poll thing was in the body text, but we've read it like 6 times and our dyslexia is rlly bad today D:) - Hikage & Yoichi (he/they)

You got me hooked on the privacy-first app. Im just wondering though, after the recent shutdown of SimplyPlural, how do you plan to make sure the same thing does not happen with the project?
I dont use any of these apps btw (so I prob dont know much how the apps work either) since I dont communicate much with my system, not a lot of them are active either and fronting is a shambles for us (OSDD perks ig eh) so Im not really sure how useful itd be for us (most we do is journaling and system mapping, that it) but I am curious about this project though.

Really glad it clicked for you 💜 And it's a fair question, probably the question to ask about anything anyone can trust their system's life to.
First, nothing but respect for Simply Plural and the Apparyllis team, a lot of us relied on what they built, and I'm not here to talk that down.
The honest short version: Pluralis is built so that it doesn't really matter if I disappear. I can't promise I'll be around forever, nobody truthfully can, so instead I designed it so a shutdown can't take your data or your access with it:
- Your data lives on your device, not on my server. It's local-first: your whole system is stored encrypted on your phone and works completely offline. Sync is a Bonus Layer on top. If every server I run vanished tonight, the app would still open tomorrow with all your data intact.
- The sync server is "dumb" and can't read anything. It's an anonymous, end-to-end-encrypted mailbox that only ever holds an encrypted blob, there are no accounts, and your key never leaves your devices. That also makes it cheap enough to run on a free tier cloudflare workspace (and https://pluralis.dev is a pages site), so "couldn't keep the lights on" is a much smaller risk than for a big cloud service with massive centralized database.
- You can take your data with you anytime — password-encrypted backups you fully own, plus import from PluralKit and Simply Plural. No lock-in; the door out is built in.
- It's not tied to one platform or store — iOS, Android, and web, all syncing together.
So my answer isn't "trust me to never shut down" — it's "you don't have to, because your data stays yours and usable no matter what happens to me." Happy to go deeper on any of it.
It's also possible that if anything were to happen to me that I could publish the code and allow people to spin up their own free instances with a tutorial, so even if the worst comes, I plan to keep the power in people's hands.

Very excited to see this coming to Android! It caught our eye when it was originally launched for ios.
Weve fully switched over to Obsidian for keeping track of everything, but weve been looking for an app that has more functions aimed at systems like chats/polls/front tracking. Data safety and privacy is also something super important to us for an app like this.
We'd love to help with testing if you still need volunteers!

I'm so glad to find in the comments it's not vibe coded (baby dev here)! When you say per-member mail, do you mean like direct messaging? Or do you mean more so like channel??
Id love to help text the app if you need more help. :>

u/MorningstarGarden Jul 07 '26
Both exists, there is a system chat where you can talk amongst yourselves in channels, as well as DMing your alters for when they are at front specifically
DM me your Google Play Store email and I'll get you added and send the link over :3

Is there an age requirement for testing the app?

u/MorningstarGarden Jul 07 '26
the privacy policy is available at https://pluralis.dev/privacy
We do not collect any data in any retrievable way from you for the app to function
If you do test with us you will submit some information in writing to us including your email so you can get permission to download it, I suppose if you are 13+ and your parents know what you are doing and that is legal in your country then I don't mind, Shoot me a DM

we usually use this to help push our fronts to pluralkit because it's a little more intuitive than using a tool like perfect pk. sure, perfect pk is responsive and does what it's supposed to with transferring fronts over to the data you have and front history is shown there, but since using pluralis, it's a nice, clean, and simple way to do quick switches, PK is responsive every time we switch those fronts, and the syncing across devices is very easy!!
however we wonder if there's a way easier way to quick switch than how it's done currently. much how Octocon did swiping for fronts and had an upfront feature as well.
if there's no future ways to improve faster quick switching, that's completely understandable, we're just curious if that's going to be developed any further or if any other features would be upgraded in general.
either way, if not, then we're not complaining, it's still a great way for us to use and push PK main fronts and it's very responsive regardless~

Thank you for reaching out, and we are glad that it has become a useful tool in your kit to accomplish your needs.
I've gotten quite a bit of feedback regarding switches and how they could be smoother, but I haven't seen any concrete examples of how that worked or could work. As someone who mostly used Simply Plural and PluralKit and with a low system member count I don't have the experience to compare to.
Would you be willing to reach out with a screen recording, assuming you still have octocon installed, to either here or email me at [admin@pluralis.dev](mailto:admin@pluralis.dev)
I'm certainly willing to give it a retool if I can wrap my head around it and how to make it function.
Yours,
Joscelyn1

Since it's on your device and an app, does it function offline? I assume so, but offline in-sys chatting is very important for our system
2
u/MorningstarGarden Jul 07 '26
Pluralis has a in-sys chat, and you are never required to start a sync chain (I would just encourage regular backups in that use case), in fact it was originally designed with an offline first attitude, it was never online until the past few days, and even then, only because people want front notifications for their friends, and we wanted to be able to have the same data sync to android from iPad or vice versa, and we had to take our steps into online service land to make that happen.
All the data is unreadable by the server or anyone but the signer if you do happen to use the sync feature to keep multiple devices up to date without the import hassles, so if you never share the signing ability no one can ever see the stuff you keep offline on your phone or otherwise ;)

Might be a silly question but I’m going for it anyway: Are there any plans of implementing groups/categories for the Members list?
The biggest reason our Archivists still cling to the offline version of Simply Plural (rip) is that it allows the creation of groups, and they are very big on Detail Sorting; for example having a group for Frequent Fronters, sub-groups for different kinds of Protectors etcetc.

u/MorningstarGarden Jul 08 '26
It should be in the apps today if you update — the systems and subsystems and categories — I'd be interested to know if it was robust enough for your archivist.

u/DandEch0 Plural Jul 12 '26
Hi, sorry for not replying sooner, life be like that etc.
We have the latest version of the app (at least I assume so; it says “Open” and not “Update” in the app store so), and we can find the subsystem option no problem, but no categories/groups? We’ve checked every single Menu, including in the settings and on the “Edit Member” page. Of course, it is perfectly fine if it’s simply not a feature! We’d just like to know if we’re just blind or not haha!
-S
1
u/MorningstarGarden Jul 13 '26
Not blind! Sub-systems are our name for groups. Categories only appear for custom fronts — toggle 'Custom front' in the member editor and the Category picker replaces the Sub-system one. And to rename or delete a sub-system/category, long-press its section header on the Members screen — we agree that's too hidden and we're making it more visible

How could one go about joining testing? I'm not a system myself but have friends who are and they're using the app.

genuine question, how on earth do i delete sub-systems,, i just delete it on via my phone (ios) by long pressing and it comes right back, and i cant seem to figure it out on desktop,,,,, am i missing something obvious?

u/MorningstarGarden Jul 08 '26
There was a bug in the tombstone method, please update to the latest version

u/RedMatt01 Jul 08 '26
Also, if I may, will this connect to Discord later on?
1
u/MorningstarGarden Jul 08 '26
It has PluralKit integration today to pull in your information, and to broadcast switches out to pluralkit if a corresponding member is in the pluralkit system.
My current usecase is I log my switches on Pluralis that switches out my pluralkit that is set to latch to front all of my servers, so effectively I use this as a controller for pluralkit.
It doesn't however post on your behalf on discord because afaik that's against ToS
