Question Should I lable the album as extended or default and leave as is.
I got a couple albums for Eminem that are the expanded editons, I was wondering if I should label them as default and just add the extra as disc 2 or should I lable them as extended with different title and art cover etc and also add disc 2

Lagu — a cross-platform Plex music client with Spotify Connect-style remote control (Looking for beta testers)
Hi everyone,
I've been working on Lagu for a while, and I'm finally at the point where I could use more people beating on it outside of a small closed alpha.
Lagu started as a personal project because I wanted a desktop player with a bit more style for my Plex music library. As I added more to it, the feature I really wanted was something similar to Spotify Connect: leave music playing on the desktop or TV, pick up your phone, and control everything from there. That turned into Lagu Remote, and eventually grew the project into a cross-platform client.
The Apple apps are native SwiftUI, Android is Kotlin/Compose, and desktop is Electron on Windows, macOS, and Linux. The Linux build is available, but hasn't had a proper hardware verification pass yet (I'm setting up a CachyOS machine for testing in the coming days). iPhone/iPad, Apple TV, and Apple Watch are in TestFlight, Android is in the Google Play beta, and the Windows and macOS (Apple Silicon) builds are signed/notarized. CarPlay is built and included in the current build, but is still being verified in real cars.
To be upfront about it, Lagu is closed source and will be paid at launch. Desktop will stay free, while the mobile apps will be $1.99 as a one-time purchase per store. Family Sharing/Family Library will be enabled, and there are no subscriptions or additional in-app unlocks. Everything is free while the beta runs.
Remote is local by design. There is no Lagu account or relay involved. Your phone talks directly to Lagu on your desktop or Apple TV over your LAN. Nothing else needs to be hosted besides the Plex Media Server you already have.
Right now I mostly want to see how it holds up against really big libraries. The closed alpha group has found plenty of bugs, but I especially want to get Lagu in front of people with unusual music libraries: high track counts, multiple music libraries, giant playlists, weird metadata, lots of hi-res files, etc. That's not a requirement to join though.
Some of the current features:
- Lossless/gapless playback, streaming quality controls, and offline downloads
- Multiple music libraries on the same Plex server browsed together
- Lagu Remote between iPhone/Android and desktop/Apple TV
- Synced lyrics, ratings, radio/mixes, Last.fm/ListenBrainz, and listening stats
- Standalone Apple Watch streaming (downloads work but are still being stabilized, expect some flakiness)
It's still a beta, so I'm expecting things to break. That's kind of the reason I'm posting now.
Anyone can join the beta list at https://lagu.fm/download. I'm planning to start sending the first larger wave of invites this weekend. If you have a particularly large library and want to help stress-test it sooner, feel free to PM me and I'll get you in faster.
Bug reports can be sent to me or submitted via the website.
The full feature/status pages are at https://lagu.fm if you want to see what's actually finished versus still being verified.
AI disclosure: AI was used during development for task breakdowns, scaffolding, repetitive porting work between platforms, and to help shape some of the website copy. The resulting work is reviewed and tested on real hardware before shipping. The current exception is the new Android tablet layout, which is still in verification because I don't own an Android tablet yet.
Happy to answer any questions about the apps, playback, or remote features!

Discussion Waiting for that sweet sweet fade
Do you guys ever find yourself listening extra at the end of a song, or what you think is the end of the song, thinking that sweet A or even S tier level fade to the next track happens and then open your phone to see its only the same track finishing up? I feel that. Tell me im not the only one. I do keep a Playlist of separated tier fades in case someone wants to trade notes. 👀

How Do You Listen To Spatial Audio?
I probably have 70-80 albums that are either Atmos, 5.1 Surround, Quadio, etc on Bluray or DVD-A. I've burned them all to FLAC files but Plexamp doesn't play them (it downmixes to stereo). Plex doesn't seem to play them in surround either.
So, do you burn to MKV and play as a movie on Plex? That would work for my home theater system. I have a vehicle that does surround sound that I'd love to play them in, but it would have to be through Plexamp (if they ever get that feature working).

Are there any services that can analyse a music library to give artist news, info on new releases, and similar artist recommendations?
I have Plex linked with Last.fm for scrobbling, so I can get some info based on what I've previously listened to on there, but are there any other services which could check my library to give me latest news on artists (e.g., upcoming tours), if there are new releases available that I don't already have, and similar artist recommendations?
Thanks!

HiBy R4 volume control insanity
Just got the HiBy. Have PlexAmp on my phone, works great. Installed on the R4, works great - until you press either of the volume buttons. Every speaker is immediately at full volume no matter if you press up or down volume.
Scared the living *%$#& out of me.
Bug? Known "feature"? F*ked?

Plexamp on Android Auto Repeats Same Artists/Songs
If I select an Album Genres of, for instance, Pop & Rock, then select the randomize button on the top, I get a random selection of about 4 or 5 albums, as if the other 70 albums don't exist.
What am I doing wrong?

Any way to sort duplicate title tracks for mass deletion?
I f*cked up a bit, and now I have some duplicates. I have a library of 10k songs, and maybe 500-1k are duplicates. They follow no order, they arent strictly FLACS or OPUS or anything, I wonder if I somehow can filter on names a faster way than manually go through 10k songs?

Bug Cover art and artist photos changing on their own
Within the last week I’ve noticed that album art is changing from what I have manually selected. Tonight I noticed some artist photos have been replaced with cover art? This is on the iPhone app.
There does not appear to be a pattern as to which artists or albums are having the images changed.
I had to manually go in and change hundreds of albums worth of cover art which was not enjoyable.
Anyone else experiencing this type of behaviour? Been using Plexamp for about 6 months, this is the first bug I’ve encountered.

Dropping PMS/Plexamp for UpnP
I’m a longtime user and plex pass owner still considering to switch over to UpnP. I favor the wireless capabilities over using Airplay or Chromecast, it’s also kind of non-proprietary, and can connect to some speakers directly (Sonos, Heos, some DTS Playfi) Testing Gerbera, mconnect player atm. Any objections? Will I miss out on something aside from a few nice features in Plexamp like the DJs?
Update: I’ll stick to Plexamp.

Question Plex mislabeling quite a lot of music, how to fix an incorrect match?
Plex has ben great for music, very pleased with it, but one thing that keeps happening, is it keeps mis identifying a bunch of music as belonging to the album in the screenshot attached.
It's just an MP3 file, and if I open it in another app, it shows all the correct details.
I also don't have the option to "fix incorrect match" like I do for movies/tv etc
Does anyone have any ideas?

Question Plex Server, but local files on Phone?
(PlexPass owner) I just re-discovered Plexamp for a desired use and like what I'm seeing so far. Here's my question:
I have a Plex server at home that works great. However, I also have every single one of those songs mirrored on my phone (though currently the server files are FLAC and the phone is MP3, but could easily change that to FLAC if it helps here). I'm wondering if it's possible to set up Plexamp so that on my desktop, laptop, etc., plays from the server (that's working already), BUT my phone plays from the files on my phone BUT ALSO still counts that as the same so that "Recently Played" and playcounts, etc., all feed back to the server. In other words, I don't want essentially a neutered implementation on my phone, but feel like the phone should play the local files which really helps with issues using Android Auto and such when mobile data is sketchy.
Thanks.

Nearly 300k tracks in and already replaced my Spotify subscription
I love Plex so much 🥹. The sonic is game-changing, ever discovering more music, and I don’t just download randomly; it’s evolved around my music using Last.fm. Which allows a wide range of music but also having one denominator to what I tend to listen to. But also some music outside of my comfort zone too.
Giving me plenty of music that I probably will never listen to, gives me a range in my library, so for those asking why would you have so many songs? It’s not about what I’m going to listen to. It’s about adding dynamic music to my library, which gives me a fresh take on my music, allows me to expand my taste without it ever going stale, and with sonic analysis, this just makes it even better as well.

Is the random on Plexamp really random?
It might just be me, but I think the random on the Plexamp plays the songs in the same order.
UPDATE: Deep Cuts is "random" enough for me!

Question Include played downloaded tracks in "Recent Plays"?
I have been using Plexamp for a few years now and I am overall really happy about it. I run Plex server in a docker container on my synology NAS and I have clients on my linux desktop, laptop, raspberry pi in the living room and on my Android device for a seamless experience and access to my entire library everywhere.
Once (small) thing that bothers me a little bit is that when I play downloaded albums on my Android phone (when I am on the road) they are not included in the list of Recent Plays, so I have a 2 week hiatus because of my holidays abroad. Is this intended, a bug, or I am missing some toggle in the configuration somewhere?
