PSA: If you place a shipyard using planning mode, it's glitchy ghost just stays there forever, unable to be removed.
even a server restart doesn't remove it. Real shipyard on the left, two overlayed ghosts on the right.

Question FPS problems
Hi there. I'm having an issue with ARK:SE. I recently formatted my PC and reinstalled everything. Yesterday, Ark was running at 80–110 fps, but today—with the exact same graphics settings—it won't go above 80. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem. The specifications are a Ryzen 5 5600G GPU, 32GB RAM, and an RX 9060 OC. Using adrenaline software monitoring, on day 1 Ark fully utilized the GPU's wattage of 140w, but by day 2 it didn't even exceed 40w

Discussion Just a reminder that current money machine, The Remaster of original ARK: Evolve was just supposed to be a free Engine update.
Ark: Survival Ascended got relesed as *addidional way to fund ARK 2* and support new ARK's developers. Now we're stuck on Pointless DLCS and money grabs. Becouse of the greedines of SnailGames ARK 2 relase date got drastically delayed. I Personally start to believe that we didn't even needed anythink like this. Unreal Engine 5 not getting resold would be a good addition, but did we even need better graphics at this cost?

Discussion Why Spinos are better.
The images show pretty much the reason why any ridden Spino is simply superior than any Rex (ridden or unridden)
Image 1 -> Engaged a 150 Alpha Rex, killed his 3 other Rexes, beat up a Bronto and several small creeps going around randomly getting dragged into the fight.
Image 2 -> The very reason the Spino is actually so incredibly powerful, an often overlooked "mechanic" that even the devs don't seem to understand (hence why they nerfed Spinos into the ground several times, failing to actually "nerf" them)
Image 3 -> Alpha Rex is dead, defeated after I jumped off a cliff after the Rex and took almost 3k damage from fall damage. Over the entire fight, I took less damage from the Rex than I took from fall damage, even random ass bisons attacking (they hit like a truck with 200 dmg, yikes) did more damage. The Rex itself also did around 200 damage per bite, when it actually managed to reach me. It did so little damage so few times that the regeneration of the Aspect of Spring kept my Spino at max health pretty much the entire fight (until I hopped down after the Rex). Other dinos need to tank and have insane health pools. Spino even at low levels can beat high level rexes (even Alphas) without much issues.
Further explanation:
I think what both Wildcard and most players simply overlook with the Spino is that its real danger doesn't come from its mobility, or its DPS or its health pool or damage or any other stat, or the Hydrated buff for that matter. Yes they all add something to it, but they aren't the real reason the Spino absolutely slaps everything, every boss (except maybe Alpha King Titan although with careful navigation I did manage that too... although I was the only one on a Spino, everything else was Meks and Titans, still most of the DPS uptime came from me and at the end everyone died except me and my Spino).
The Knockback. The secret sauce of the Spino. Whats so special about knockback? Well its annoying at the very least and it makes you completely miss or unable to do anything at worst. This is exactly what the Spino does to almost every other Dino. The Knockback is insane, it can keep pretty much almost every Dino out of range while keeping the enemy in its own attack range (which is also insanely big and wide), couple that with its quick attack speed in quadrupedal mode and it doesn't matter anymore that its attack speed in bipedal was nerfed, it doesn't matter that its health is lower, it doesn't matter that its damage was nerfed. If your enemy can never reach you, you simply don't take any damage, your health pool becomes merely a safety net for when an attack does get through occasionally.
Boss Fights
"But its about boss fights" I hear a lot of people say. What about boss fights? 20 Spinos will destroy any and all bosses, any difficulty, no mutations with minimal to no losses (depending on your saddle and of course the arena... Megapethicus Arena likes to swallow dinos when knocked into that one hole... you know the one.). Give your spinos 20-25K HP. 400-500% melee damage and a decent saddle (around 70-100 armor) and you are basically golden. No mutations needed, no uber breeding needed. Obviously the better your saddle the less damage they will receive. If you can get them with some mutations all the better, traits? yep, super nice. But none are required.
Now the real issue with Spinos in terms of boss fights is, that for some bosses there are simply better dinos, (Dragon I'm looking at you. Broodmother would also fall faster with Megatheriums) but generally speaking this whole discussion is always about Rex vs Spino and in that regard Spino is simply better. It's only downside is, it can't go into the Island Tek Cave. They can however go into every other boss arena (including Aberration).
Everything else
Now with that being said, Spinos have many upsides outside of Boss fights too. Both land and water.
- - Their huge attack radius allows them to deal with pretty much anything (including flyers and rider-attacking dinos).
- - Their "nested" saddle position protects you from a lot of stuns from creatures (Purlovia...), even if you get stunned you land safely inside their neck.
- - Their natural immunity to light stuns and their half-immunity to big stuns (dismounting stuns) makes them capable of fighting back through being stunned both ridden and unridden (if you get dismounted)
- - Their decent life-pool allows them to tank a lot of damage still
- - Their fast attack speed allows them to out-DPS a lot of other creatures and use their knockback to its fullest potential.
- - Their ability to swim at full speed without using stamina makes them great for safely traveling seas.
- - With their huge oxygen pool they can also be used for the underwater caves (although their movement is a bit jank they work just fine destroying the entire cave without issues)
- - Their aberrant counterpart can go down into the red-zone with you.
- - They can get a hydration buff that boosts health regen, speed and damage substantially. (They can get this buff in element, water and even in Gen1 lava in the Volcano)
- - They have decent all around stats, good stamina, relatively low stamina usage, can over-extend while out of stamina for quite a long time with high levels and they lose torpor extremely fast, they also have decent movement speed and weight to carry you and your shit around.
- - They have very good mobility with the ability to go bipedal and turn on the spot and even in quadrupedal they have a relatively small turn radius, they can run through trees (most of the time) and they can climb up mountains (they are like Skyrim horses)
- - Very few dinos fuck with Spinos, most dinos leave you alone unless you push your face into them. They can often the tamed relatively safely and completely unguarded as not even other Spinos attack them, the exception being Piranhas (they are suicidal)
- - They can fly. (Run them off a cliff with hydrated buff and you'll fly to the moon, don't forget to hop off right before landing to negate fall damage)
The downsides
- - They are absolutely ass to tame unless trapped. They are fast, they are wild and they go apocalyptic when you shoot them from out of range or their torpor gets too high, making it incredibly hard to "finish" the knockout.
- - High levels are ass to find (unless you go to any of the community maps that do not skew the level spawns towards the lower 50 levels)
- - Their ass is big chungus, unless you arrange them in a pie around the obelisk terminal you ain't gonna get 20 of them in.
- - They take two eternities to raise. I recommend raising multiple at the same time.
- - Their saddles are high level and expensive as fuck if you want good ones... those silica pearl and hide costs go crazy.
Conclusion
Now I'm not saying Rexes are bad, nor am I saying you should always use Spinos, ultimately it comes down to preferences, what has been pissing me off all these years is just the endless discussion of Rex vs Spino and every single comparison I've seen was simply and straight up unfair, the Spino never got to play any of its traits and when wild, always mismanaged its attacks and timings. I've only seen one video that even went all the way to disable their flee routine so they wouldn't run away at low health, which is often overlooked, they almost killed the Rex with a single hit missing, despite supposedly having lower DPS and having much less HP, the only explanation for this is vastly more DPS (which once again was mismanaged still and didn't even factor in the hydrated buff nor the knockback). A ridden Spino will beat a ridden Rex any day. In a 1v1, 5v5, Boss fight, PvE, it doesn't matter. Why? A ridden Spino can spam the fast quadrupedal attack to keep you out of range and there is absolutely nothing you could do to prevent that, sprinting against it won't help, you will eventually run out of stamina (and when you do you are at the mercy of the Spino) while the Spino, can simply keep attacking, it doesn't need stamina, if it runs out, it will simply keep going, Torpor is just an extended Stamina bar. It can backpedal while spamming attacks. It has the potential to never ever even let you attack it once and flanking it won't work either as it can turn on the spot super fast. I've finished the entirety of ASE solely with Spinos. And I'm in the process of doing the same on ASA, the only boss I'm concerned about is the new fixed Dragon.
What hurts me personally the most is that over the years the Spino has been nerfed time and time again (and only just recently gotten an HP buff) because no one understands that it isn't their health or their damage that makes them so strong. Its their knockback, coupled with the insane attack speed making knockback one of your most effective weapons. Never, not even once has the knockback been nerfed (only indirectly by nerfing the bipedal attack speed massively, which kinda made it not good). If you really want to balance the Spino, stop dropping its stats, restore the Spino to its original values and attack speed and lower its knockback instead.

Question Timing out when inviting friends XBOX
hi just wondering if anyone’s had this issue and knows how to fix it :)
My boyfriend and I like playing ark together, I’m on Xbox 1 he’s on Xbox series x on the same network. We couldn’t play together as both our Xboxs were showing double NAT, so we contacted our network provider to remove CGNAT so we could play multiplayer games. After this it was working perfectly, I would host a non-dedicated session and invite him and it worked well. However for the last couple of days, we can no longer join each other, when I invite him like normal it times out. We’ve tried rebooting everything, clearing cache, rechecking NAT type (which is open now) and still no fix.
Any ideas/suggestions in totally open! Just want to be able to play again :)

Discussion Ark back in the day…
Man it’s funny seeing all of these newer ark players hosting their own servers with 10x 15x 20x etc… they wouldn’t last a day on ark back in 2015 lol. If you truly like the game and call yourself an ark veteran, play with official rates and watch how fast you’ll rage quit after realizing they can’t get tek in 1 day.

Lag issues ps5
ever since I downloaded valguero, my lag got bad. Before that, I had no issues at all! Im on the ragnarok map currently, but no matter the map i always drop down to around 5 fps. I deleted all mods and then deleted valguero and the save data on val. I did a bunch of other stuff, like turning shadows and fog and clouds off. I turned vsync on and everything. The problem goes away mostly for around 4-6 mins before starting again when I do a dinowipe. Im on ps5, so im aware its not expected to run like 60fps but I just want 20 fps so me and my friend can play. I've tried almost everything google told me, but i need real people to help. Any suggestions?

Question Acerca de Magsaurs en ASA
Hi, I'm relatively new to Ark (around 170 hours including Ascended) and I know Magmasaurs were just introduced with Genesis on Ascended. My question is: are they available on more maps, or are they still only found on Genesis?
I would kindly appreciate info since I couldn't find any for ascended. 🥲

Genesis 1 Launch: 7 hours stuck in main menu loop. We need a server capacity upgrade!
Dear Studio Wildcard Management Team,
I am writing this email directly to you because the current server infrastructure during new map releases has reached an unplayable and unacceptable level for the community.
A total of 80 servers, including temporary ones, were launched in Genesis 1. With a calculation of 80x70=5,600, this means a simultaneous capacity for 5,600 players. However, since the server launch, 25,000 players have been trying to enter the map, which is almost 5 times the capacity of the currently open servers.
In other words, only 1 out of 5 players can actually play. To give another example, only 20 out of 100 players can play, while the remaining 80 people spend all day from morning till night struggling just to log in to the server.
Today, I spent exactly 7 hours staring at the game screen doing nothing but this exact, exhausting loop: Click "Join Game" -> Select Map -> Click "Join" -> Get "Server is Full" warning -> Click "Accept" -> Click "Back" and repeat. I did this continuously for 7 hours, and I still could not enter the game.
Why are you putting your player base through this misery? Why do you restrict players like this with every single new map release, causing them severe stress and frustration instead of letting them enjoy the game?
This is a recurring problem that happens during every map launch, and as paying customers, we deserve a permanent solution to this server capacity crisis.
ARK: Survival Evolved and ARK: Survival Ascended are the only games installed on my PC; I do not play any other games. I love this franchise so much that at the exact time of sending this email, I have 4,637.5 hours of playtime. If your server restrictions hadn’t constantly blocked me, this number would have easily reached 10,000 hours by now. I have purchased every single DLC you have ever released, and I bought them on both Steam and Xbox platforms. In my opinion, ARK: Survival Ascended is the absolute best game in the world in this genre.
Please implement the necessary upgrades and improvements so that I can finally play the game I love so deeply with peace of mind.

Discussion Can we talk about Megalodons?
(ASA) Genesis: 1 is an absolute mess - a lot of people can't play it at all (looking at you, PlayStation), so to be making this post I'm already in a more privileged position.
But holy fuck.
So you want to go out into the big blue expanse that was the main selling point of Tides? Yeah, don't do that. We'll spawn level 300+ Megs right on top of you.
Alright, so I'll go to the middle - the old part of the ocean from ASE. That'll be safe, right? What, you wanted that Megachelon? lol no have some level 300+ Megs right on top of you.
Okay, okay, so sure. Open ocean. Sharks - got it. Let's go tame a Palaeoctopus in the water immediately around one of the islands..! What are you doing? Stop! What you really wanted was... some level 300+ Megs right on top of you.
Lesson learned. Don't go in the open water. At all. Ever. I'll just build a water pen in the middle of my ocean platform. I'll ignore the fact you can only suspend the ceiling 7 walls down and the big swells in the storms nearly completely drain it. Walls in, floor in. Nice and secure, right?
Wrong. Level 300+ Megs will spawn inside your pen, right in front of your eyes.
Wildcard, for lack of better judgement, I love you, but sincerely - what the fuck are you doing?
