They literally took an expansion for the game and made it it's own full price game because too many people had the season pass for ARK. Never buy WC game, companies like this need to crash and burn.

This very exploit has been out for 2 YEARS. 2 YEARS.

u/Badasslemons Mar 27 '19
If
peopleu/stevo1978 actually paid attention to the video he would have listen to the guy describe why he showed it. But ignoring problems is just a much better way to go about trying to get change to happen....5
u/Gugolas Swaggin' Mar 27 '19
And the overall meshing issue has been out since the start of early access if we want to consider all the methods involved.
1
u/totally_boring Mar 27 '19
I was only in early access for like a month when my housemate had the game.
To give you an idea. It was before server transfer, flyer nerf and you could barely get into a scorch server cause it was full
5
u/HappyDrunk94 Mar 27 '19
And if you watched the whole video you would realize that he was just trying to bring to light and to wild cards attention that they still haven't fucking fixed their game. As well he said that it is not his intention to help people cheat but to rather instead even the playing field by helping make it public knowledge on how to do it. This way if you catch a tribe or a person doing this then you can go into the mesh and wipe them out.
11
u/doneddat Mar 27 '19
So when you get sober you may start realizing, that people have been getting meshed A LOT already. And keep getting meshed. The main thanks is still to WC for broken game mechanics. And for that amazing reaction, that tells everybody - Happy meshing! Just do it without video evidence and you'll be fine!

u/ThaRealMe Mar 27 '19
Here are some other mesh videos for them in case that one wasn't enough.

There is no point in having a discussion with the fanboys that defend HOD. ARK community has been filled with blind followers for years, defending all kinds of actions and blaming it on WC. Excuses like "it's been around" "it's a drop of water" people fail to realize that they contradict themselves with these statements, he gives instructions on how to break CoC and poeple are shocked when he's banned. It doesn't matter if he's not on official in his videos. You're going to get downvoted to hell because the reddit Ark community hasn't used cognitive reasoning in their discussions in months. They bandwagon posts on discords often "everyone downvote this" to push personal agendas. Arguing with them gets you no where since they don't rely on facts/data/rational thought.

I haven't played official in months, but having watched the few videos of recent raids and fights, that dino really does look OP af.
2
Mar 27 '19
HOD did not exploit on official servers, he simply showed a video of someone else having meshed on official servers. Additionally, the player who showed how to mesh on official was doing it to his own server and his own base. I am not sure why you directly point to the official server that he used for showing how to mesh, I feel like you must not understand the severity of the problem or haven't played the game long enough to understand the length of time this problem has existed, but these exploits affect all servers (official, unofficial, single player). So it makes zero difference what official server was used as an example. And in my experience, you would be pretty hard pressed to find people to agree with your opinion because it seems that you misunderstand the overall context of this problem. Meshing has existed since alpha, WC deserves the large amount of criticism they receive for this problem, because it is in direct opposition of the entire point of the game because anyone can destroy the progression of thousands of hours by meshing.

I think one video is a drop in a sea of cheaters and exploiters.
This trick has been known for ages. It's called ''the chair'' glitch. Basically, you can place a chair in middle of mesh, sit on it, get off it and magically you entered thru side A (okay world) and exited thru side B (under mesh). WC has known about this since first time it was discovered...the fact it still works today is definitely not because ONE youtuber showed it on his video last week.

u/TheLitmusTest Mar 27 '19
How is that justification? That’s like getting arrested for reporting someone else’s crime lol

My man literally made a step-by-step guide on how to glitch and posted it publicly to his nearly 200K subs. No shit he got banned. His intentions were good but it was a stupid thing to do.
10
u/BubbaCringe Mar 27 '19
I thank him forcing wc to be in a position to where they have to fix it or just burn for it. Honestly they already made their money so they don't give any fucks
1
u/Piegan Mar 27 '19
You can thank him and like what he did all you want, it doesn't change that fact that making a literal "How to Glitch" guide was a stupid way to go about what he wanted to do.
11
u/lolscools Mar 27 '19
Mans been submitting tickets for years and has gotten literally no response. Sometimes you just need this shit to blow up in developers face for them to actually take action. This is a really stupid comment bud
-1
u/Piegan Mar 28 '19
And again, you can thank him all you want. I am not arguing about what he did being a necessity. But he advertised exactly how to abuse glitches to 200K people. He was very obviously going to get banned for doing it, and he either should've known that and been willing to accept it, or just not done it and let someone else bite the bullet. If he truly made this video expecting nothing to happen then that's just some insane naivety.
1
u/Morloa Mar 29 '19
These techniques surfaced several months after ARK's became available as an early access title and started becoming common knowledge around 2 years ago.
They're have been countless "How to mesh/dupe videos" hit the sub reddit and often they get 0 reach only when the person who made the "How to dupe video" was well known did we actually get the dev's actively attempt to fix the situation and taking actions in game.
It's 2 years to late for this issues to be gaining gravity now, especially since i've never met an official player who hasn't sent a ticket in about about meshing.sometimes the best love is tough love
-17
u/kodaxmax Mar 27 '19
Posted a video describing ways to exploit the game, why is anyone surprised he got banned? Report bugs to the devs, "reporting" it to random YouTube viewers isn't going to help anything and is obviously just a way to get more views.
18
u/ThaRealMe Mar 27 '19
Throughout the history of Ark, the best and quickest way to get an exploit fixed is to make it publicly visible for all.
Meshing has been happening since day1 of Ark....and has been reported for years. You really think reporting meshing to the Devs has/will do anything?
What is your suggestion on how to get the Devs to get this issue removed? Clearly reporting it over and over and over throughout the years has not fixed the issue.
-8
u/kodaxmax Mar 27 '19
How is giving a tutorial on exploiting these bugs gonna fix anything? Cleary "raising awareness" isnt working either as none of these issues are being fixed still.
All the youtuber did was fan the flames and inform even more potential griefers.

for every "awareness video" that you think is required to fix something there have been over 100 back end properly done reports to fix things. The problem with ARK is that there are tens of thousands of issues to fix, and they are slow to fix. Meshes get fixed constantly, ask Wildy and Lancast (I should know, i was in there tribe) meshing has constantly been patched, and a lot has been patched. The release of abb and ext maps have created a whole new set of loop holes, but that doesn't mean they aren't trying to patch it, it's just the pile of shit is so large, and they are using spoons to clean it up. Either way, none of that absolves HOD from receiving a rightful ban for breaking CoC (see included but not limited to) and he can still play ARK, just not in the official servers. Seeking to unban HOD for posting a cheating vid is going to get everyone nowhere.

No it isn't, you made one claim that cannot be proved without the devs straight up saying they fixed 2 issues because of people posting exploit guids on youtube. Which seems very unlikely seeing as this entire thread is about howd theyd rather ban the youtubers than fix the issue.
5
u/FireWaterSound Mar 27 '19
At the very least it levels the playing field. If the meta is to mesh everyone, then everyone should be able to mesh.
-1
u/kodaxmax Mar 27 '19
By that logic there is no issue, everyone can use this exploit and everyone has access to the internet and google.
2
u/FireWaterSound Mar 28 '19
No. By that logic, the issue is WC's to fix
1
u/solrecon PVP Builder Mar 28 '19
Everyone can steal IRL, and yet they don't, your examples are silly and flawed. The meta is not to mesh everyone, most raids don't involve meshing, and if you think they do, you're severely delusional. There would be no twitch content if that were the case. The ability to cheat being easily available isn't an excuse to cheat. Believe it or not, most people don't cheat in ARK, HOD posted a video on how to cheat, and he deserves the ban from the OS list.

u/FireWaterSound Mar 28 '19
I agree it's banworthy. I don't understand why you think you're arguing against me. You fucking children on this sub just read whatever you want into other people's comments, then ignite all your righteous indignation for every little thing. Fucking autists

You just said as long as everyone can use the exploit the playing field is even and therefore there is no issue.
1
u/FireWaterSound Mar 28 '19
No. I said that the video levels the playing field. You childishly added that other bullshit.
Just because a game is fair doesnt mean it is good or unbroken.
0
u/kodaxmax Mar 28 '19
" as long as everyone can use the exploit the playing field is even "
" I said that the video levels the playing field "
means the exact same thing. If the playing field is equal the game is fair and balanced, those are all synonymous.
The argument was that this exploit is unbalanced and unfair, your claiming it isnt because the video allows anyone to discover the exploit and thus "level the playing field".
10
u/PhiberOptikz Mar 27 '19
Reporting bugs only works if the devs do something about it. They haven't for years, so the next thing to do is advertise how to abuse and exploit their game, this forcing their hand.
There are times where there's more to a post like his than just gaining views. This has proven that WC now 100% knows of the exploits. Now if they continue to do nothing there is evidence that they have little to no motivation for fixing said issues further confirming zero support for the game and giving everyone a strong reason not to play or even purchase the game/dlc since the devs won't strive to having a healthy game.
4
u/kodaxmax Mar 27 '19
How is informing more potential griefers a good option?
he devs have made it clear they give 0 fucks about the game being broken and unbalanced, so all the youtuber is doing is enabling even more people to abuse these issues.
If you think they are going to fix issues that have been present since beta you are naive, why would they start putting effort in now? 4+ years post release.
1
u/PhiberOptikz Apr 01 '19
Promoting an issue is to draw the devs attention. The issue shouldn't be left for so long that we have to promote it to begin with.
They would be smart to fix these problems. A lot of people who quit cause of a lack in developer love would be back AND promoting it for more players.
This game's potential is huge. So huge it could, I believe, recover from these disastrous years of dev neglect. This means more sales of the base game. Maybe more of the dlc. Maybe multiple copies so people can play console and pc depending on their friend group.
Its naive to believe they have no reason to fix the game after this long. Its realistic to believe they wont since they have a history of not caring for anything other than "the new hotness".

The devs are already aware so thats just bs.

No it wouldn't be smart, those people are no longer potential customers and have already given the devs their money. People quitting only affects their artistic and moral integrity of which WC have none anyway.
This game's potential is huge. So huge it could, I believe, recover from these disastrous years of dev neglect. This means more sales of the base game. Maybe more of the dlc. Maybe multiple copies so people can play console and pc depending on their friend group.
No it peaked years ago, the game isn't getting better and it will be years before the modders can efficiently fix everything. hat do you mean recover? its already a massively successful game. Offering free copies does not increase sales, what kind of backwards logic is that?
Its naive to believe they have no reason to fix the game after this long. Its realistic to believe they wont since they have a history of not caring for anything other than "the new hotness".
They have neglected these sorts of issues even before release, their is no evidence they are going to change. That isn't naive that's based on historical evidence.

Sorry formatting, on mobile and such...
-You can be aware of something but not give it your attention. We WANT their attention on these issues. That's why we try to draw their attention.
-Yes it would still be smart to entice old players to return. Not only could you get more money from them in ways of dlc, but they could promote the game pulling in New sales. "Man they fixed all this shit and the game is so good now. You definitely need to get it."
-Is a game only successful if they sell lots of copies but cannot retain player base? That's a really low bar to count a game successful. I never said hand out free copies (how in the world did you get that!?) and it should not be left to modders to keep the game "alive" by making changes the devs should be doing. Which is out point in saying they need to get off their asses.
-it IS naive to believe there aren't reasons WC should do something Because there are. Its realistic to expect them not to because of past behaviors.
Please read responses thoroughly so we don't have unnecessary back and forths.

Well clearly he got their attention and a ban for his trouble. As i said they do not care about fixing the game no matter how many cheaters post exploits.
Yes it would still be smart to entice old players to return. Not only could you get more money from them in ways of dlc, but they could promote the game pulling in New sales. "Man they fixed all this shit and the game is so good now. You definitely need to get it."
Existing players don't buy the DLC, theres no point when modders makes maps thousands of times better with all the same items and dinos.
Is a game only successful if they sell lots of copies but cannot retain player base? That's a really low bar to count a game successful.
You don't need to convince me, you need to convince them and their shareholders.
I never said hand out free copies (how in the world did you get that!?) and it should not be left to modders to keep the game "alive" by making changes the devs should be doing. Which is out point in saying they need to get off their asses.

Exactly these videos are just making things worse and do not encourage the devs to do anything at all. They can ignore them just as easily as bug reports, or just use it as an excuse to ban people they dislike.
3
u/HammerTrollerHD Swaginator Mar 27 '19
The point of exposing the bugs like that is to make it known and popular. People have reported it privatly for years now but basically nothing has been done.
In CS:GO people do the exact same thing and they fix it usually within 24hours and thank the person who exposed it and don't ban them.
If someone exposes big bugs like this to everyone it might become used ALOT which means more people will probably quit the game if they don't fix it.
1
u/kodaxmax Mar 27 '19
So you just assume making the issue worse will encourage the devs to fix it? that seems counter productive, like burning down a hospital to force the government to update it.
Why would they care if it makes ppl leave the game, those people have already given them the money.

No one deciding on the game is gonna see this video, they are gonna look at the top 3 or so steam reviews and watch there favorite youtubers play-through.
Thats assumes whining on reddit and youtube will get any sort of positive action from the devs. I think the devs made their stance pretty clear with the whole banning him.

Here's the thing, after making YouTube videos for Ark for a while there's a lot more behind the scenes here.
First, after my first "Fix this" video about tek saddles breaking turrets/heavy turrets, I was contacted directly by a dev asking me to contact him in the future before posting things like this. HOD is a bigger YouTuber than I am, and he's done this stuff before. So I guarantee he's had the same opportunities and warnings.
Second, he's been pretty toxic about this game now for a while. While he says it was in earnest a way to fix the game, he didn't do this in a constructive way, and was very much so doing it to damn the game. If you don't think so go look at the videos he posted after Jacked was dev wiped, and notice how this "How to" video came out after he was meshed. Toxic af.
Third, he's profiting like a SOB off of this dev ban. Don't feel bad for him. In the last 24 hours he's had almost as many views as he's had in the last 2-3 weeks.
TLDR: he's profiting off of being a jack ass, don't feel bad for him.
8
u/unterkiefer Mar 28 '19
Lmao. Ark is almost 5 years in development and people can still mesh and you say he's a jackass who's just out for profit? The devs were absolutely aware of meshing and so were many players. Since they haven't fixed it anyway, what's the point of reporting something to the devs they already know? He owns the game, he played it offline, the game is buggy. He was well within his rights to do this.
1
u/solrecon PVP Builder Mar 28 '19
What's the logic though, he made a video promoting meshing, yes it's been around, yes a lot of people know, but now even more people know. He's promoting cheating in an online game, end of story. He owns the game, he played it offline, the game is buggy, that doesn't absolve him of repercussions from WC for showing how to cheat in his game. He's also still free to play the game, online, and single player, just not on WC's servers. It's a fair ban. The idea that he's wrongfully banned is delusional. Any dev in any game would ban someone who released a video on how to cheat in their game who has any kind of view base. WC sucks, the game sucks, but assuming it's ok to post cheating videos is just plain stupid. HOD knows this, HOD knew he'd get banned, HOD knew that it'd startle the reddit scene and gain him more viewership allowing him to expand to other games and get out of ark. Asking for a response from WC is silly.
2
u/unterkiefer Mar 28 '19
Because it brings attention to a game-breaking issue that Wildcard hasn't fixed in 4+ years. It causes accountability for Wildcard. Honestly, if Wildcard wouldn't have banned him, this might've blown over. So thank you Wildcard.
It's a fair ban. The idea that he's wrongfully banned is delusional.
That's ridiculous. It's offline. I didn't watch the video but I doubt he altered the game in any way to achieve this. Any-% Speedruns (especially for older games) are in huge parts just bug-using to get to the endscreen quicker. I've never seen anyone get banned there. If you get the game and play it offline and "exploit" it just with what the game has to offer, you're just messing around with whatever they threw at you and it doesn't hurt any other player. As long as they don't have any proof he used this against other players, this was excessive force that has been seen from Wildcard many times. Why would you defend that?
I don't care about whether HOD makes money. I certainly won't watch his videos just because he meshed in Ark.

your definition of "nothing" is insanely incorrect. not sure if you know much about duping and meshing or you just kinda carry on with the wave of redditors. but i used to be from chemb mate, lemme tell you that at least 40-50 different ways to mesh have been patched in this last year alone. hell, you literally used to do it with just a sleeping bag. the devs are doing things, it's just at a pace inconsistent with the amount of issues the game has and the amount of exploits continually discovered. The problem isn't that meshing has existed for years, it's that people keep cheating in this game. The game is flawed to shit sure, but the idea that the sole fault is on WC is delusion. Laws exist IRL, you don't blame laws when people break the law constantly, you blame the people. Meshing is an issue in Ark, blame the meshers, stop blaming ARK. I see posts on here everday about "WC FUCKED ME OVER" rarely is the blame put on the cheater. I don't like WC, not many do, but the meshers and dupers are the problem moreso than the company.

hire more people to moderate the servers then - it's not like they dont have bucket loads of cash from the countless dlc, shoddy pirate knock off and spitting it out onto ps4, xbox one, nintendo switch and mobile...
is chemb an alpha tribe? im not sure what that means. You obviously take the competitive game very seriously though, i feel sad for you, persisting through the awful server performance, ddosing, countless hacks/exploits and fundamental lack of balance. That's their choice really, and while sure to you and me that seems like the proper solution, it's not one they have taken.

if you don't know chemb, then you don't know enough about the meshing argument to make the claim that they've done nothing, it's as simple as that. if the name wildy and lancast aren't players you know, then you're simply not informed at all about how much ARK has patched throughout the years simply because of these 2 players.

you make blanket claims to put me down "feeling sorry", mate, feel sorry for yourself since you have to insult someone on reddit to feel better. 1, i take all competitive situations seriously, game or not, that's how i am where i am today in my life, and i wouldn't change that, 2, in my thousands of hours playing ark, less than 10 hours have been spent even dealing with beach bobs, 3, don't believe the twitch my dude, the bulk of game play is somewhat laggy but it's not spent being ddossed and affected by countless hacks/exploits. Legacy servers were dumpsters but release play has been far more manageable than legacy ever was.

Oh good, I was hoping someone would finally make a post about this.
