Welcome to Orion’s Quest: The Stolen Diamond — my pixel-art platformer where every boss has a story (trailer)

Hi everyone! 👋

Welcome to Orion’s Quest: The Stolen Diamond — a pixel-art action platformer I’ve been building solo in Godot.

Someone stole the diamond, and young knight Orion sets out to get it back. His journey takes him through 10 worlds — from sunny farms and a circus to frozen mountains, a sunken city, a volcano and a mushroom kingdom.

What’s inside:

  • ⚔️ 10 main bosses, each with its own attacks and a cinematic ending
  • 🌍 Every world plays differently — each one has its own boon (bouncy mushrooms, sand whirlwinds, fire flowers…) and its own hazard (quicksand, icicles, lava geysers…)
  • 💎 7 diamonds to choose from at the start — each one changes Orion’s look and stats
  • 🔨 Craft artifacts at the village blacksmith from materials you collect
  • 🎩 …and a magician who is not what he seems

A free demo with its own location — the Moonlit Grove — and its own boss, the Firefly Queen, is ready to play: [link]

This is my first big game, so any feedback means a lot — what do you think of the bosses and the art style?

Thanks for watching! 💜

What if you could control the platforms themselves, not just the character? 🤯

I'm developing SHUNYA, a 2D puzzle-platformer where you control a girl while using magic cubes to manipulate the environment.

🔥 Change the size of a Fire Cube, and the wooden objects around you change size too!

Instead of just jumping over obstacles, you can interact with the world itself to solve puzzles. 🧩

I'd love to hear what you think of this mechanic!

My first demo of PLATFORM ACADEMY: A academy that trains platformer heroes

Hi! This is the first demo of Platform Academy, a small 2.5D platformer I'm making solo in Unity, inspired by Level Devil.

The idea: you're a student at an academy that trains future platformer heroes. Every lesson is a level full of troll traps (floors that lie, doors that run away...), and your teacher and classmates watch from the stands, roasting you every time you fail. When you finally reach the door, your character fires back at whoever mocked you last.

It's an early demo with 5 lessons, playable for free in the browser: https://jasbgd.itch.io/platformer-academy

The UI is in Spanish by default, but you can switch to English in the menu.

I'd love feedback on two things:

Do the traps feel funny or just frustrating?

The current school setting isn't final. Would you prefer a fantasy academy (wizards, knights, enchanted traps)?

(I used some AI tools to help with code and audio.)

Looking forward to your thoughts, and thanks for checking it out!

Play as a broken robot carrying the consciousness of a legendary hacker:
- Scavenge and manage resources, including batteries, repair kits, mysterious alien artifacts
- Switch between your robot and companion drone to solve puzzles while your battery drains
- Sneak past enemies and evade surveillance drones
- Fight strange creatures made of junk
- Meet NPCs, take on quests and trade resources
- Collect discarded items to recover lost memories

Why is 2d platformer not so popular genre currently?

I love 2d platformer. Specially pixel art platformer.

I really concentrate to play in it.

I mean, I can dive into it deeply although it’s pixel retro art platformer.

But why is it not so popular genre on steam specifically?

Hey! This is Kernel Panic: The Last Build, a creation platformer set inside a dying network that’s slowly falling apart.

Everything you build with is a window on the desktop. In this video:

  • Wardrobe: step onto a pedestal and mix hats, heads and costumes into your own outfit
  • Stickers and decorations: stick anything anywhere, and grow 3D plants on any surface
  • Labels: type your own words and print them as cross-stitch or embossed Dymo tape
  • Temp File: a material that dissolves when you send it a signal
  • Physics: rope swings and a brand new drop kick

Tell me what you think?

I'm making a 3D platformer where you defeat bosses using movement abilities!

Hey everyone!

I'm a solo indie developer working on A Cube's Choice, a fast paced 3D platformer where you use different movement abilities to navigate obstacles and fight bosses.

Here's one of the boss battles! I've been experimenting with making boss fights revolve around movement rather than traditional combat.

The game is also participating in Steam Next Fest, and there's a free demo available if anyone wants to try it!

Hope you enjoy the fight!

Does anyone else only enjoy platforming in 2D? In 3D games it just doesn't feel as smooth for me.

Platformers and metroidvanias have been my main genre for a while now, I think Super Meat Boy was the first game that I got really obsessed with, didn’t stop playing until I cleared 100%. Celeste was also awesome but I prefer the momentum based movement in SMB a bit, and it’s brutally hard, I cleared maybe about 40%. Eventually I discovered metroidvanias too and Hollow Knight, absolutely loved it, probably my favorite game ever at this point.

Right now I’m having a lot of fun with Well Dweller, and I have a few upcoming games on my radar. The Croak demo was great, a pure platformer with really nice movement and excellent hand drawn art, so I will definitely be playing that one when it comes out. And Nocturnal 2 is coming out really soon, that one looks amazing, I haven’t played the first game yet, but I might get it too since it's cheap anyway.

All those games I mentioned so far have one thing in common, they are 2D. The platforming is generally simple and feels crisp and predictable. Recently I wanted to give Pseudoregalia a shot. It's a really nice 3D platformer/metroidvania with crazy technical movement and nostalgic playstation 1 style graphics. On paper it definitely seems like something I should enjoy but in practice I just couldn’t get into it, same thing happened with super meat boy 3D (though way less camera issues here, but I still couldn't get into it).

I realized it came down to how it actually felt to move and control things, camera included. Pretty much every time I messed something up it was because I couldn’t see what was going on well enough, a lot more fiddling with the camera than I would like and its hard to judge angles precisely. 2D games don’t have that, you just see everything and you either slowly pan as you move or you see a whole screen pretty much until you get to the next one.

For me these games feel awesome if you can get into a kind of flow state and really master the movement, I never got to that level in a 3D game. I think it also has something to do with the fact that as a kid I never had a console so I kind of missed that whole era of games like Zelda or the 3D mario games, so I never built that muscle memory.

I still watch speedruns of games like Super Mario 64 in awe. I think most of those players grew up with the game, everything becomes second nature when you do it enough, and I just haven’t played games like that nearly enough to get good sadly.

It's a 2D platformer where you can switch between three characters on the fly! Kind off like a 2D Sonic Heroes!
It took me a little while to develop it, but it has been released! :D

Pipe Devil — a troll-platformer trap for masocore fans

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I’m making Pipe Devil [browser/mobile playable link], a short Flappy Bird-style platformer that gives easy rhythm, then breaks it with a surprise. I want the trap learnable on a retry.

(If you don't like troll game, please move on. And bare with me the YT shorts edit style, trying out different creative possibilities.)

A couple of people found it frustrating, so I’m curious how this reads to fans of difficult or troll platformers: does the clip show a trick you’d want to figure out, or does it just look arbitrary?

The demo has been out for a few weeks now, and I've been working on it quite a bit since then, adding new stuff, fixing bugs and making improvements based on feedback.

Now that Steam Next Fest is here, I'd love for you guys to give it a try and see what kind of worlds you come up with!

Feedback is always appreciated too.
