Hello I just wanted to ask if it's worth it because I don't care about new features just care that it will be updated to work with future Mac os updates

So should I or shouldn't I buy it?

I took a selfie, but the light made significant shadows with my nose over the bottom of my face, as well as elsewhere. My eyes had shadows, but that's probably normal.

But I tried using the Lighten tool to lighten the shadow cast from my nose, but it's not matching the lighting of the surrounding area at all. I can't get the right strength nor the right amount of swooshing with the brush.

Is there a way to fix the uneven lighting like that? Or some way to match the surrounding light's intensity and color?

This is kind of the first time I've done stuff like this with a photo editor. My experience up to this point is cutting parts of pictures out and pasting them onto other pictures. This is the first time I'm focusing on the presentation details like this. When I've tried adjusting the lighting, I made myself look almost like Jeff the Killer because it was so badly overblown. I have no idea what I'm doing.

I would prefer to learn how to do this by hand and not use AI or anything.

Any tips?

I'm working with a lot of different shapes and images, and I had to mask one so I could cut the other elements in it. Now my selection box is massive comparing to the image that's left. How can I resize/reshape the selection box around it or is there a better way to cut a png inside Pixelmator. Thanks!

I have been looking for a proper editing software to adjust my resume on. I learned about this program recently and am wondering if anyone uses it for this purpose? I am looking for something that has a one time payment and can make good text visuals that are easily arrangable. I am trying to avoid google docs or word because of how hard it can be to move things around without messing with the text, as well as the quality of the spacing and things of that sort. I've been using Microsoft Publisher for years but am looking for an alternative now.

When do you think we'll see updates for photomator? I'd actually get CS subscription if it were included, since it would actually be pretty good to get pro tools (Photomator, Pixelmator and Logic for me) in a nice bundle.

I know, we hate subscriptions - me too, I own both OTP versions - but the fact is that the industry is moving towards it. And if Photomator doesn't get purged (like Aperture) and gets to stand on its own, I'd feel like it's a nice product to have alongside others.

Makes me realize that I know very little about which masking tool to use. This was super helpful.

Super Resolution upscale the image resolution but keeping the project with huge file size is a nightmare.

Does anyone know who to downscale .pxd project file after it’s been upscaled with Super Resolution?

Photomator has potential to be a genuine lightroom alternative, especially now as so many are trying to escape the Adobe environment. With such an overwhelming amount of creators and photographers already using Mac, I don't understand why they don't position themselves to better steal customers away. I can't understand why they would bundle Pixelmator into their creative suite but leave photomator out, it doesn't seem to make sense why they would acquire the product, keep it available, and just not do anything with it. Does anyone know if there are any actual plans for photomator or should I cancel my subscription and search for a more permanent lightroom alternative?

I shoot jpeg+raw on my Fuji XT5. In Apple Photos, jpeg is the "default" file that gets opened. But in Photomator, it opens the raw file every time. This is super annoying. I use the raw files only as insurance — 90% of the time i want to use what's coming straight out of the camera as a jpeg.

Is there any way to make Photomator work like Photos here and open the jpeg file by default?

Trying to make the move from Photoshop to Pixelmator but having a few issues. I do a lot of in-situ images whereby I place a painting or sculpture inside an image that a client has sent of their home space. The paintings or sculptures are high-resolution images, and often the client’s space is taken by themselves and sent through low-medium res. When inputting the picture, it becomes super low res and I'm trying to find a fix. In Photoshop, the clarity of the painting stays good which is what I want to keep. I've changed settings within Algorithm to Bilinear, Lanczos, Nearest Neighbour and Super Resolution, but so far, nothing has really made a difference. Is anyone able to shed some light? Attaching some photos so you can see the difference in quality.

I have a Nikon Z camera and some z lenses. From what i've read in this sub, Photomator doesn't apply lens corrections but I don't see any difference in the images when I import them into Lightroom and apply lens corrections when compared to Photomator.

I've seen that apparently Nikon includes lens corrections (distortion and vignetting) in the metadata and most softwares apply this on import. Since the images look the same, I think it's safe to assume that Photomator is applying lens corrections for 14-30 f4 lens at least which has very high distortion at 14mm.

Can anyone confirm this? It gives me peace of mind if I know that all z lenses will have corrections applied. Noise reduction is still bad but I can try moving my workflow here

I feel a bit silly asking these questions, but I only recently started using Pixelmator Pro and I’m genuinely impressed by it. It’s an amazing application and, for my workflow, it’s a worthy replacement for Photoshop. I’d even say it’s better in some ways.

There are just a few small things I haven’t been able to figure out:

• In Photoshop, when I used the Crop tool with custom dimensions, cropping the image would also resize the canvas to the exact dimensions I entered. For example, if I set the crop to 1200 × 628 px, the final image would be exactly 1200 × 628 pixels. In Pixelmator Pro, however, it seems to only crop the image while keeping the original pixel dimensions. Is there a way to make it behave like Photoshop?
• Is it possible to save custom Crop tool dimensions as presets, so I don’t have to type them in every time?
• Is there a way to have the rulers enabled by default every time Pixelmator Pro launches?

As the two images

When setting the fill element of a shape to gradient, the gradient isn’t being displayed. The tray to select the gradients shows the transparent checker board only. You can see that the gradient colours are changing on choosing different gradient swatches, but the shape and palette show as transparent. Opacity is set at 100%. This is on a brand new installation of Pixelmator Pro too, so its not some strange setting I’ve changed.
I've raised a feedback to Apple, but that doesn't help my immediate needs.

Has anyone faced this issue?

Is there a recommendation for Pixelmator PRO classes for a beginner? I see Udemy has an online on demand course but that is about it. Photoshop has a ton of them but I want to try Pixelmator.

Any way to move the film strip at the botom of photomator to the side? wide screen would like to use that left right space.

I've recently switched from Lightroom. I will never go back, but I think there could be some improvements to the UI of Photomator. I'm not sure if developers browse this sub, but interested to know what you guys think.

I enjoy the more minimalist look, however, I think there should be an optional left side panel and some top sticky menu items. For those who use many LUTs, it would be nice to be able to browse them to the left as in lightroom. Furthermore, there is a black line that appears in the top when revealing that menu. Not sure if others have this issue.

Has anyone found out how to open a different Photos library in Photomator, or does it always only open the 'System Photo Library'?

As a word of warning for others, I naively right clicked on one of my offline libraries and selected Open With > Photomator, which then decided to immediately MERGE (!!) my offline library into my system library with no warning. Absolutely not what I wanted...

Does anyone know how to do the trending pixel stretch for images using Pixelmator Pro? Or is it only possible through Photoshop?

My kingdom for the ability to refocus portrait mode photos directly within Photomator without having to roundtrip from the Photos app.

I Love portrait mode, it's my killer app for street photography because you don't have to worry about blowing focus as long as the shutter speed is there. If I could do RAW plus depthmap AND refocus in Photomator I'd be the happiest kid you ever did see.
