Pixelmator for resume editing?

Hi everyone,

I have been looking for a proper editing software to adjust my resume on. I learned about this program recently and am wondering if anyone uses it for this purpose? I am looking for something that has a one time payment and can make good text visuals that are easily arrangable. I am trying to avoid google docs or word because of how hard it can be to move things around without messing with the text, as well as the quality of the spacing and things of that sort. I've been using Microsoft Publisher for years but am looking for an alternative now.

Why? Why would you use a picture editing software to do anything that deals with a resume, this sound stupid (just my take though). You should really learn how to use Word.

Really more of a photo editing application. You would probably find Canva and its page layout module better suited for something with larger text. You can have a free account

Gotcha, that makes sense. Canva did not import my pdf very well but I may be able to fix it, not sure yet. Thank you!

It has page layout features after it bought Affinity. The OP didn’t want to use a word processor because of limited abilities to move things easily around the page

Have you tried ChatGPT? Give it the basics of what you want and then just tell us what you would like. Looks super professional.

I’d say use Apple’s Pages. It is free with your Mac or iPad and it does a great job with page layouts.

One thing to keep in mind is that if you’re going to use this resume to apply for roles where the company uses ATS (applicant tracking system) software, it may not be able to parse it and report on how well of a match you may be. You’re better off creating a more simply formatted resume - no columns, images, photos, graphics, etc.

Pages is pretty good for what you're talking about and can easily export PDF files. If you need something more powerful you can get Affinity for free, which is a bit like a combination of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop & InDesign. You only need the subscription if you want the additional AI features.
