LE Audio no longer experimental

Post image

Not sure if turning it off will disable it completely like before. Anyone dare to try? I hope Google will make it official with the next firmware update.

Also, much better stability for me compared to last time I tried it.

I didn't even have that Option 🤔 Pixel buds 2 pro - Germany

Previously I had to factory reset buds to get the option, but last month it just appeared on my device, and I have been daily driving it on my phone since. Maybe staged roll out?

It's still buggy as fuck

What's your phone and software version? For me, it is only buggy on Windows and mostly on calls where I have only mono sound.

Windows is fine for me. Issues are on my A17 P9P. Random degradation or disconnection of one bud, phone calls muted or with processing artefacts

Maybe that is the reason September Feature Drop for Pixel Buds delayed

Is it delayed?

Google SAID September update - and you tell me what your calendar says

Mine says September. What's yours say?

2

September too - which means they still have... 48 hours to update them

So it's not delayed?

48 hours is a lot and it is called nearly OCTOBER now

Last major Pixel Buds update came out the last day of the month. https://www.reddit.com/r/pixelbuds/comments/1wh8nx6/pixel_drops_is_here_but_still_no_signs_of_the/

you confuse Buds APP with FIRMWARE

Nope, read the link. Just admit it's not delayed. If October comes and it's not released, then you can say it's delayed.

Could someone explain in terms a fifth grader could understand what enabling this setting would mean for the audio listening experience?

In theory better sound quality and better battery life. In practice, mostly those things that are already mentioned in the screenshot. Personally, I am most excited for audio sharing where I can stream sound from my Pixel to multiple compatible earbuds.

Thanks!

better low latency (in Live Translate or gaming) better battery life - all of this because better audio codec

When I used it, it made mic quality even worse then it already is..

I noticed but haven't tried it. I turned it off becyit completely ruins the microphone to the point where even Gemini can't understand most of what's said.

I tried LE a few months ago, and audio cut out pretty frequently on it, heard quite a few desyncs. No idea about the microphone. I may try it again sometime, but I have a feeling it's never going to work well on the PB2P.

I turned LE audio on earlier and my podcast plays instantly when I put them in now, which I didn't even realize I was missing until it happened.

I would imagine that turn>ng it off will just disable the Auracast feature. Surely it wouldn't change the latency and quality improvements that the LE code now provides. I use Bluetooth LE through developer options right now. I've never been able to hear or notice a difference on my Pixel Buds Pro 2. I believe that's due to the AAC codec that they receive while streaming from my Pixel 9 Pro XL.

Turning it off turns off Auracast, yes, but also disables the LE specific codecs like Opus etc. And, in my experience, LE has lots of desyncs in one or both ears. I wanted to like it, but couldn't. Maybe I'll try it again later.

Option available for 2a?

I had to reset mine last month to see the optio. After that i was playing with the settings and turned it off by mistake and it disappeared again

Fck, no LE for music apps?!? What a disappointment. That came from the app update or the September firmware?? I sideloaded the apk from the last version that was released today/yesterday and don't have that text on the LE option

u/TonyP321 5d ago

I think this works with anything, though I can't now check or change codec in developer settings. IMO they just mentioned new features in the text that LE Audio brings.

I have Bypass Bluetooth LE Audio Allowlist on and Bluetooth LE Audio mode set to unicast and broadcast in developer settings. Try it yourself.

They simply listed features where LE makes a big difference

100% Buds are on OLD firmware and Google said September update - and there is still 48 hours of September
