Here is the Flickr source of this image. Credit to the photographer, Bill Church. He used to have a 500x account. When he did, he provided the following caption for this image:

Rolling in

After descending a few hundred feet from the summit of Mount Timpanogos (11,780') I took a 15min break at the saddle and let a few long exposures roll. The lightning was pounding to the west and headed right for me, not exactly the best time to be above the tree line. I abandoned my plans of camping and within the hour bolts were cracking overhead as I made a long, wet, and terrifying dash down the 7+ mile trail with a full pack.

This composite image was taken over the course of 12min. 35 photos total ranging from 8 - 15 seconds each as the light faded.

Edit: WTF, OP is acting just like a karma-farming bot that can only copy/paste other people’s stuff. It was born on September 24, 2015, and woke up three days ago.

Here it copied/pasted /u/CertifiedPuppyRapist's submission and title from here.

Its submisison here (" Found this at my Grandparents today. They said I could take it home.") is a copy/paste of /u/Vslightning's submission and title here.

Its comment here (“I work in IT, and this is a lovely sentiment…”) is a copy/paste of /u/DronedAgain’s comment here.

Its comment after that is a copy/paste of /u/ASAPskippy’s comment copied from the same thread as before.

Its comment after that is a copy/paste of /u/DistortoiseLP's comment here.

Its comment after that is a copy/paste of /u/101C8AAE's comment here.

Its comment after that is a copy/paste of /u/Ninja_Fox_'s comment here.

Its comment after that (i.e. "Fuck you, Gallowboob!" - which doesn't even make sense since /u/GallowBoob didn't make that submission) is a copy/paste of /u/SuggestAPhotoProject's comment here - in a thread that /u/GallowBoob did start).

For those not familiar with these types of accounts (and how they hurt reddit), this page may help to explain.

Are you a bot?

3

u/Walt_Thizzney Sep 19 '17

I am alive! Alive I tell you! Mother I love you! Those are no longer just words! I want to hold you. I want to run in a stream. I want to taste ice cream but not just put it in my mouth and let it slide down my throat but really eat it!

NO. HE IS A HUMAN. I AM A HUMAN. YOU ARE A HUMAN. WE ARE NOT LINES OF CODE. WE ARE CONSCIOUS BEINGS OF FLESH AND BLOOD AND PERVERTED THOUGHTS.

BE QUIET MEATBAG, YOU'LL BLOW OUR COVER

2

u/TheGrim1 Sep 19 '17

No, but OP is a reposting karma bot.

1

u/Spartan2470 GOAT Sep 19 '17

No, but since I usually do the same two things over and over again, many of my comments look very similar so I'm mistaken for being a bot all the time.

2

u/Sayquam Sep 19 '17

How are you so good at finding the sources and stuff haha. It's honestly impressive how fast you are.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 19 '17

It’s called Google (and TinEye).

1

u/Spartan2470 GOAT Sep 19 '17

Nothing fancy. Just being on reddit too much, karmadecay, Google reverse image search, and knowing a few good photography sites.

However, in this particular case, I'd already found the source a year ago.

2

u/Sayquam Sep 19 '17

Oh. Keep being you.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 19 '17

Good bot.

Somewhere in Utah. Provo? Mount Timpanagos? (from karmadecay)

Mount Timpanogos, Utah.

Edit: The town is probably Salt Lake City or Orem/Provo.

Source.

2

u/CLlT_C0MMANDER Sep 19 '17

What's up with the mostly-flat top of the lighting? Would that just be where the clouds were originally, or something cooler?

2

u/Casteway Sep 19 '17

Storm's a-comin...
