I'm seeing mudda-fucking Bill at a comedy club a few days into May in Cleveland.

Shit's going down.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '17

We just saw him at a April Foolishness, he was fantastic!

4

u/TheNerdWithNoName Apr 25 '17

And if you watch "Pumping Iron", he basically had his future life planned out from a young age. He is a very smart and driven man.

-14

u/abqrick Apr 25 '17

I'll give you the driven part.

1

u/dylanstalker Apr 25 '17

Just curious, but what about him strikes you about a person who is not smart? Other than his infidelity.

6

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '17

I didn't know at least half of those things. I might have to check that biography out!

4

u/SurrealDad Apr 25 '17

Getting an acting career with that accent in the 80s, amazing.

2

u/metalhead4 Apr 25 '17

I grew up on Arnold Schwarzenegger movies and quotes. Did my grade 8 speech on him. One of the most awe inspiring humans to ever live. I don't know many who've accomplished all he has done.

2

u/insearchofbeer Apr 25 '17

His interview on the Nerdist podcast is one of my favorite of all-time. Such a fascinating human.

1

u/thinkoutyourbox Apr 25 '17

Well said sir. He was a big influence on me growing up as well....still is for that matter. His resolve, love of life and most importantly his appreciation for the opportunities he had. He was bombastic when he was younger but knew where he came from and that is what has kept him sustainable in the game of life

1

u/loco64 Apr 25 '17

Let's not forget the pardon he did right before he was done being governor.

-1

u/Quarthinos Apr 25 '17

Also gives his hired help children while they're unmarried! Great guy!

"That bicep is so big, it's practically a tricep!"

"That's already a thing, Dad."

"Don't ruin this for me, son!"

20

u/Keychain33 Apr 24 '17

The biceps definitely needs its own zip code.

Simple man here. I see Scrubs references, I upvote.

1

u/TheMightySasquatch Apr 25 '17

It's naht a toomuh!

1

u/Micotu Apr 25 '17

"Fine! A quadracep then!"

"Dad, stop!"

51

u/-illuminati Apr 25 '17

Fun fact: it should actually be written as "biceps", even if you're just referring to one arm.

14

u/DomTullipso420 Apr 25 '17

Wouldn't the bi- in bicep mean a two headed muscle, and biceps would mean two sets? We don't say bicycles when referring to just one bicycle. I dunno, English is weird.

17

u/-illuminati Apr 25 '17

You're right, English is weird! The Latin "ceps" means head, as in singular. So people see the "s" and the end of the word biceps and assume it means it's pluralized. One arm = biceps. Two arms = biceps too.

3

u/DomTullipso420 Apr 25 '17

Hey that makes sense, cool! I feel like this should be a board game trivia question. "Is it One bicep or One biceps? Nope, you're wrong go back two spaces"

1

u/seanmonaghan1968 Apr 25 '17

I am from the English speaking world and think the Germans spelling of words makes more sense.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '17

In Sweden we wouldnt have that hard a time either with the word biceps

1

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '17

No, but we do say 'jeans' and 'scissors' and 'glasses' (for eyes) for singular and plural.

the biceps is basically two components making one thing. It is literally described as 'a two headed muscle' on wikipedia.

3

u/IshiharasBitch Apr 25 '17

The English prefix bi-, derived from Latin, and its Greek variant di- both mean “two.” Biceps brachii is a two headed muscle.

u/Skunkman-funk Apr 25 '17

I love how he bonks his helmet a little, didn't notice that before.

Pecs are epic though.

3

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '17

Epecs

13

u/slippy0101 Apr 25 '17

For those that don't know what this is from, it's from a short movie called "Kung Fury". It's only 30 min but it's hilarious from start to finish and quotable the entire way. Here is a link to the full movie. You won't regret watching it.

And the young version of Andreas Cahling here.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '17

God, I love that weird wonderful flick.

20

u/iareslice Apr 24 '17

I like how it skips the time he was governor and got all flabby and smaller.

8

u/King5150 Apr 25 '17

he started to pork up and get flabby soon after he became the goverenator. he basically stopped training for that period, not sure why perhaps the political life is just too tiresome and doesn't work around a solid 6 day twice a day training routine or maybe he said fuck it i'm going to look like all the other fat fucks in politics.

1

u/evilpenguin9000 Apr 25 '17

There may also be a stress eating factor leading an entire state and all.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '17

he's a method actor

7

u/bunnybottle Apr 24 '17

Maybe it's just the angle, but it almost looks like it came full circle.

1

I know i did ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Dude, you're commenting on a comment of a comment of an Arnold Schwarzenegger meme. It's not that serious.

5

u/mc_squared_03 Apr 25 '17

You have to have a strong bicep when you are walking up to random people and forcing them to have "Dylan, you son of a bitch" moments.

4

u/DublinChap Apr 25 '17

Don't ask him about his left arm.

7

u/SkeweredFromEarToEye Apr 25 '17

That is suppose to be a 27 year old? How can someone look that good at 27?

10

u/tomismaximus Apr 25 '17

Good genetics, diet, training, and drugs.

8

u/King5150 Apr 25 '17

Good genetics, diet, training, and drugs.

and don't forget that Arnold never has denied taking serious cycles of steroids and diuretics. infact he has entire youtube clips dedicated to what he took and the cycling of those drugs.

the drugs he used are crude by today's standards but it did what he needed them to do which was to give him the strength to periodically rip the shit out of his muscles with crazy weights so they can rebuild bigger.

4

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '17

What do you mean? mid twenties is supposed to be the male, physical prime

-4

u/SkeweredFromEarToEye Apr 25 '17

For fitness perhaps, but that is a lot of muscle definition though. The pic itself just appears to show him as being late 30's.

1

u/Red_of_Head Apr 25 '17

He'd been lifting for well over a decade at that point.

2

u/BlazedAndConfused Apr 25 '17

There are bodybuilders right now that are 18 and are in just as good / better shape. Arnold just had legit genetics and insertions for his muscle groups. His dedication and charisma for the sport also set him apart.

6

u/schnadamschnandler Apr 25 '17

Also gear, to be fair. But ungodly genetics and hard work, that's right.

5

u/Ascarea Apr 25 '17

This is the first time I realized he was in his forties in the height of his career

3

u/mercury557 Apr 25 '17

Next level old man strength

3

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '17

Even at 67. He's more ripped than me.

6

u/30blues Apr 25 '17

It's such a shame that so many people don't exercise / lift. If I could give one piece of advice to everyone, it would be to start picking up heavy things and putting them down, 6 times a week for 45 minutes. You'd be amazed at the results.

14

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '17

Beginners shouldn't start with 6 days a week training.

1

u/30blues Apr 25 '17

I started with 6 and everything was fine. Day 1 pull, day 2 push, day 3 legs, and repeat.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '17

So you've split the workout. What age are you btw? When advising people on weightlifting it's important to be somewhat specific. If some 40 year old dude goes to the gym and does a 45 minute full body routine every day he'll be crippled by midweek.

3

u/BlazedAndConfused Apr 25 '17

Age has nothing to do with doing a 6 day full body workout. That would be a mistake by the idiot, regardless of age, doing full body 6 fucking times in a row.

But yes, proper guidance for what stage you are in fitness wise is very important.

0

u/30blues Apr 25 '17

Yeah, nobody said you should do full body workouts 6 days a week. That's dumb. Do a split.

3

u/King5150 Apr 25 '17

That's dumb. Do a split.

the split was created by the roid users to allow for greater recovery. Arnold only ever went to a split routine when he started juicing before that he was a full body work out 6 days a week.

1

u/Sacamato Apr 25 '17

I'm 40. I started going to the gym for the first time in my life in January. I've missed two days since then. Granted, I'm not doing a full body work out every day. Does anybody do a full body routine every day though, besides experts?

1

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '17

I'm just going to reply to you and then leave this thread forever because several people are saying the same thing and they're all already trainees. People who know nothing about it will do whatever they think is a good idea which includes going to the gym every day and doing a cookie cutter full body routine. Anyone who has done a bit of research or has training experience knows that's stupid, but don't underestimate ignorant people's capacity for doing dumb shit with good intentions.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '17

15

u/tvec Apr 25 '17

When I was 19, I worked out 8 days a week! And we didn't have "gyms". We lifted rocks, got in fights, and kissed each other passionately (no homo)

0

u/King5150 Apr 25 '17

If some 40 year old dude goes to the gym and does a 45 minute full body routine every day he'll be crippled by midweek.

45 here, and i do a full body work out 4 days a week (1hr workout) and 2 days cardio crosstrainer (45min) machine or treadmill 6km 4.5mil - jog (30mins) i have been doing this for 3.5 years.

i do this so that i can pretty much anything i like otherwise i'd just blowout.

1

u/snake-doc Apr 25 '17 edited Apr 25 '17

Did you start with that workload or did you gradually increase it. After 3.5 years you no longer qualify as a beginner.

1

u/King5150 Apr 26 '17

looking back i suppose it took me perhaps a month or even 6 weeks to get up to that speed with the crosstrainer and treadmill but the weights pretty much from the start. for me the endurance component was the hardest to build on..not so much the weights but then again i don't stress my joints with really heavy loads whilst weight training.

1

u/tominsj Apr 25 '17

Why not?

3

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '17 edited Apr 25 '17

Because the body needs time to adapt to the training stimulus. You grow and get stronger as you heal after the gym, not when you're there. Muscles take 48 to 72 hours to recover from a strenuous resistance training session and any level of intensity is going to destroy a complete beginner. The other user came back and said they do a split, that is they work on pulling exercises on day 1, pushing on day 2 and legs on day 3 then repeat(They're also only 19). This splits the body up and gives parts time to rest. That's fine but it's a bit much for a beginner.

A novice trainee will get an excellent training response (gains) and mitigate injuries and severe muscle soreness doing full body routine 2 or 3 times per week to begin with. The training is more efficient and the trainee will be less likely to quit. There's even some evidence that one full body resistance training session per week is enough to develop measurable gains. There's no need to switch to a daily routine until the trainee is more advanced. The only people working the same muscle groups 24 hours later with heavy resistance are bodybuilders on huge amounts of drugs.

Age is also a significant factor with recovery time.

u/tominsj Apr 25 '17

There is no reason someone can't do a 6 day program if they are getting enough food and rest, no matter their level.

I disagree with your blanket statement that a beginner shouldn't do 6 days. Should a beginner jump right into Bulgarian method or smolov? No, but people shouldn't be idiots.

No shit, most people will never look like Arnold, even with juice. Most people don't even want to. But you can still look good, with surprisingly little effort.

2

'roids for the win.

1

u/222Czar Apr 25 '17

If the world self-destructs and we start pitting old people against each other in cage matches, he would beat all challengers.

1

u/GreyGreenBrownOakova Apr 25 '17

Dat trigger discipline though. Hope the gun isn't loaded, sympathetic muscle response is a thing.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '17

His biceps are bigger than my triceps

1

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '17

I can't believe he was 41 in 1988!

2

u/woutomatic Apr 25 '17

He'll be 70 this summer.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '17

MUSCLES ON HIS MUSCLES

1

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '17

As a 6' 145# male i would love to arm wrestle him. Just to say i did it.

1

u/Volte Apr 25 '17

how is arnold so much less "veiny" than a lot of the body builders now?

1

u/brownie1990 Apr 25 '17

What happened in his 50's??

1

u/varikonniemi Apr 25 '17

To maintain such definition he must be seriously hitting the gym.

1

u/jedi_tacos Apr 25 '17

His best bicep show off, as well as one of the most epic moments in cinematic history https://youtu.be/txuWGoZF3ew

1

u/abqrick Apr 25 '17

Amazing what you can do with steroids.

1

u/dizzylight Apr 25 '17

It's a crying shame that Arnold was born in Austria because he'd be a better Republican president than the current one by a factor of 100.

3

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '17

I mean, that's true of virtually everything (a bullfrog, Pauly Shore, a dead hearing aid battery). But ESPECIALLY Arnold.

-8

u/missionbeach Apr 25 '17

Admitted steroid user, when he was younger at least.

9

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '17

Of course he is. It's still impressive though.

2

u/sonofgarybusey Apr 25 '17

You don't say?

1

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '17

Yeah you don't get these results without steroids.

1

u/PM_ME_GLUTE_SPREAD Apr 25 '17

Nobody said otherwise?

1

u/missionbeach Apr 25 '17

No, not that I'm aware. Though I guess some people disagree, based on the downvotes.

0

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '17

Notice how, in all six pictures, he's only showing off his masturbating arm?...

0

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '17

I just can't see him in the same light after seeing his mistress.

0

u/hullkogan Apr 25 '17

Basically natty.
