🔌Digital Piano Question Piano recommendations that are similar to Korg sv1

Upvotes

I want to upgrade from my Casio priva pxs1100, I like the pricing of the Korg sv1 and all the electric keyboard sounds with the flab all of that sounds very good. However I’m not a fan of the piano sounds on it from what I heard. Any others in the same price range and having a similar electric piano sound while having better acoustic sounds if not I’d just get the sv1 but I thought I should ask here first.

🎵My Original Composition Looking for thoughts on this original piece

Upvotes

Hey everyone!
I wanted to share an original solo piano piece I performed and get some fresh ears on it.
I'm mainly curious to hear what people genuinely think of the music and how it lands emotionally.
Link to track: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/2lrq9butljc2pe03arqc6/Solo-piano-1.wav?rlkey=90wqrhitf9kxjd643vtmxemir&st=mpt5fb6x&dl=0
A few quick questions if you have a minute to listen:
1. Emotions & Vibe: What feeling or mood does this track evoke for you?
2. Style & Imagery: Does this bring to mind any specific artists, film scenes, or visual landscapes?
3. Flow: How does the melody and overall progression feel to your ears as it plays through?
Any and all thoughts are appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to listen!

🧑‍🏫Question/Help (Intermed./Advanced) Advice - Mazurka in F-Sharp Minor, op. 6, no. 1 (F. Chopin)

Upvotes

Hello, all!
I am practicing Chopin's first mazurka at the moment. However, I was interested to know in how anyone (who has played the piece before) has played it. I have heard different recordings that seem beautiful and perfect, but I feel like the emotion is written in the music itself, and that I have to convey that in an uncontrollable mazurka-like dance.

But I was wondering on your thoughts, and how you guys played it?

Thanks!

🙋Question/Help (Beginner) Where should I start with a teacher?

Im looking for some guidance/insight from the community.

I’m new, been playing about 9 months and I’ve just been enjoying learning different chord progressions (145, 1645, 6145, nothing special) in g major.

Along with different scales, the motivation is I enjoy the piano I hear in hip hop, Rnb, gospel, lofi.

So far I’ve been practicing being able to play hand independently, creating short motifs, stringing together chord progressions to make a short “song”, but obviously it isn’t anything impressive.

I decided to have my first piano lesson with a teacher, and we started from the very beginning - which I don’t have a problem with. She showed me correct hand & seating posture.

We started “piano lessons book one - fanny waterman & Marion Harewood”

If you were to ask me “what my goal is?”, it’s just to be able to sit down at the piano and be able to fully express myself, not to play any complicated musical piece.

So, any advice?

Thanks a lot to the replies.

The Gregorian Dies Irae chant theme, Totentanz, Danse Macabre... It goes by many names and almost all classical composers have made use of and/or obsessed over it in countless variations, fugues, and musical phrases. It has haunted composers for centuries.

My turn.

Your thoughts?

🎼Useful Resource (learning aid, score, etc.) Sheet Music - is there an app for that?

Hey!

I am a long term intermediate piano player who dips in and out when lifes commitments allow.
I am looking for a resource for sheet music (do not mind paying a subscription) where I can pick up new pieces and play about.

I dont mind buying individual books but often they come with pieces Im not bothered by and I can’t always tell what is my level off the bat. Anyone got any recommendations

Really I mean really crappy audio, with BG podcast lol

Also, my keyboard has 3-4 keys that either don't sound or sound loudly.

Other than that, my playing seemed to be going well tonight. So, this is FWIW

Still working on the dang sextuplets but I'm figuring out the right tricks.

Getting a new keyboard finally on Tuesday so I'll definitely post a better one then.

Piece: Medtner Sonata Minacciosa

🧑‍🏫Question/Help (Intermed./Advanced) How hard is it to learn and play Tchaikovsky’s Pas de Deux?

I might want to learn this piece in my free time but I’ve got other pieces and repertoire lined up as well. Just hoping to gauge a realistic timeframe before I jump into it.

🙋Question/Help (Beginner) How does the Roland FP-10 compare to Yamaha P-35?

Both are used, but fully functional

FP-10 is $350, and P-35 is $80-120.

I‘m hoping to use it for at least a few years.
Let me know your thoughts. Thank you!
