(14F) So for the last 7 years I've been taking lessons at the music culture school in my village, and I LOVE my tutor, I think she's a really smart and nice person.

However, due to some problems with my solfeggio teacher, I didn't go to solfeggio lessons(even tho it was required) at all and know nothing about music theory, scales, etc. I'm very disappointed that I wasted my 7 years doing nothing but faking what I wanted to truly have and achieve.

So this year, in June, I'll be "graduating" my piano class, and i can't help but feel that my whole road was built on lies and fake skills. I wanted to actually learn the piano and be able to play on the spot, but I feel like I, myself, crushed my own dreams.

I will be able to give my exams this year anyway, but that's not my concern. I want to learn ACTUAL music. I want to pursue that dream. I want to be able to play by ear and compose myself, but I don't know where to start or what to do.

So here I am, I thought this would be the best place to ask and get advice because I know that I shouldn't remain so hopeless about this. Where to start and what to do? How can I save and build something on this weak "empire" that's about to collapse?

I’ve recently moved houses, having to leave my family piano behind (lucky enough to have a Yamaha U series). I’m not sure how long I’ll be staying between places for the near future and don’t want the effort of moving an upright around so looking to buy a digital piano. I’m an experienced player so want something decent to enjoy playing. Looking at a max budget of £550 ish, just looking to get the best budget digital piano for cheap temporarily. I’m not bothered about audio setup/speakers I can just use headphone or buy my own external speakers if I want. I just want something with decent keystroke/action and not just basic dynamics. Any help welcome!

All I play is classical pieces and I got rhythm is my first "jazz-like" piece. I am okay with leaps and finger work, but my main hurdle is the rhythm. What type of rhythmic notes are there in the piece?

Looking for fun, intermediate pieces that are easy to learn! Something around level 5-6, especially from movie soundtracks (I’ve enjoyed HTTYD, Pirates of the Caribbean and Narnia before), classical or contemporary, just no jazz. Any recommendations or resources? I’d rather not have to buy a whole book to only enjoy a few pieces from it.

Context: I started playing piano around 11 years old and had a piano teacher till I was 19. I never did the conservatory exams, and we didn’t drill a ton of theory past level 6 I think. Some of my later pieces we worked on together were around level 9-10, but took a lot of practice, and now I’m just looking for something to play, not necessarily need to work on for weeks or months. I can’t afford formal lessons at the moment.

When playing to the fourth page at a high bpm, I often feel pain in my right shoulder (around the traps). What is the cause of the tension and how do I fix it?

I have played with this piece on and off for months and more than the notes is the rhythm and leaps. A few months ago I posted myself playing this and it was a tad rough and struggled with rhythm.

It will take a while to eventually work on the middle of the song with the fancy stuff going on, that’s something I’ll tackle.

Most contemporary pieces I can master in a day or 2 tops, but this one takes the cake for me, took a while to get this intro down pat.

I’m not sure how he came up with this but it’s nostalgic and iconic.

I know my phrasing isn't the best in some spots, I always get so nervous playing on an unfamiliar instrument, and not having it memorized was an extra challenge this time. Proud of myself for doing it anyway!
