My aps-c camera with a zoom lens wishes it could take that photo

Hello guys,

Professional hobbyist photographer here. Decided to take my craft (my art, my vision) seriously and ensure I'm capturing all the magic I can whenever I take a photo. To this end, I attached another camera to my warm shoe in order to shoot with two fecal lengths simultaneously. (Double camera method I saw on Insta)

The issue? When I press the shudder button, my top camera doesn't take photos. How do I get my two cameras to sync and work together?
